The hotel was overall unsatisfactory. Although the lobby is upscale, our hotel room itself was run down and dated. The bathroom countertop, the carpet, the furniture were all worn and appears to be from decades prior. Our toilet was clogged on the day of our party's wedding and required maintenance on an already busy day. On top of everything, Sonesta charges fees for everything other hotel chains would offer to all of its guests. For example, there's a charge if we wanted 12pm late check out and early check in.
Overall, Sonesta Redondo Beach feels like a dated hotel that has many defects, all the while charging for every little guest services it could offer.

All I would say is there should be more maintenance! And if your someone who likes a cool room we’ll forget it, they have motion sensors and unless you sleep walk the air will just turn off and room gets warm. No sleep for two days, shower rod fell off I just screwed it back on, toilets are loud. It would be nice to have some type of breakfast earlier than 7am.

A typical hotel room. It was clean. We had a limited view of the ocean and a good view of the car show in the lot across the street. We had no interaction with staff except when checking in. Sol restaurant was very quiet. The servers were very nice.

Not going to lie, but when I booked this room, I got a little nervous reading the reviews. I decided to still take a chance.
Upon arrival, check-in was quick and easy. I am so bad with names, or else I'd mention the receptionist's name (it could have been Crystal). She was so nice and easy to work with. We had an issue with the reservation, but she was able to work with us and find a solution.
Our stay was quiet and peaceful; we enjoyed sitting on the balcony and using the outdoor pool.
Restaurants and some bars are walking distance from the hotel, which makes it easy to find something to do.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel and especially Jessie at the front desk enough!! My mom and I have been in town for over three weeks taking care of my sick grandfather and Jessie made our stay so seamless, comfortable, and just amazing while we have been going through such an emotional roller coaster. Not only did Jessie help us with our room rates to accommodate our budget but he has been so sweet and checked in with us throughout our entire stay. My mom and I would be returning to the hotel after spending the most emotionally taxing day with family and nurses and he somehow managed to put a smile on our faces when we would come through the lobby. I have traveled and stayed in countless hotels throughout my life and I have NEVER had an experience like this before. Jessie and the staff truly restored my faith in humanity and I am not exaggerating. My grandfather passed yesterday and Jessie and Gladys’s sent this beautiful assortment up to our room to let us know they were thinking of us. I cannot recommend Jessie enough, I have never met such a kind selfless human being. Thank you Jessie and Sonesta staff for making this hard time a little easier♥️I will definitely be returning and recommending for life!

Great location for this hotel. Plenty of restaurants nearby and the marina has enough to keep your interest for weeks. The staff has always been great and the rooms seem to be kept in good shape. A good choice for staying in the area

My husband and I had a wonderful night, as a staycation get-a-way at Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina. Location was perfect. Jessie checked us in, and he is the definition of customer service. He was awesome and so helpful. Very patient, professional, and very knowledgeable of the type of room that we would enjoy. He hit the nail on the head. He suggested the room that we ended up in. Amazing staff. Nice bar, with a great list of good bourbons. Our room felt new. It was very clean and spacious. The view was breathtaking of the ocean and Marina. We had a nice size balcony. We ordered dinner from the Cheesecake Factory restaurant which is across the street from the Hotel. We ate our delicious meal on the balcony and watched the sun set. The pool area was immaculate. We went for an early swim and jacuzzi. I have totally recommended this Sonesta Hotel, and we will return again. Thanks Sonesta for a most relaxing get-a-way.
Rooms: Our room was very clean. Even in every corner of the restroom. The bed and pillows were comfy. Housekeeping staff were amazing. They were happy, smiling, cordial, and welcoming as we passed them in the hallways.
Safety: The Hotel is across the street from the beach it was during the week and quiet. We loved the streets somewhat empty. We felt very safe.
Walkability: We felt really safe walking in the evening and morning. There seemed to be a nice bike path, with several riders, and you really feel safe to go for a walk in this area. It is in walking distance to The Redondo Beach Pier.
Food and drinks: The food is always good, but this time we supported neighboring businesses for food. The lobby bar is amazing. The bartender was great also. She knows her bourbons. We were happy with the selections.

Here is a copy of my email to Resort Pass about my egregious experience at this hotel.
"I recently completed my 3rd or 4th booking/stay for the Sonesta in Redondo Beach through your website. I had a pretty horrific experience and thought it was important I share here with your team to protect other guests.
My son turned 6 this past Friday and after spending much of the year in swim lessons his birthday wish was a pool day with a group of friends. On August 25, 2024 I used your site to book 12 pool passes so we could enjoy a day by the pool swimming with a small group of his friends and their mom's. Given we were a group of 12 and I had typically only gone with my son and partner, I called and spoke to the manager two different times leading up to the date to make sure we were okay to move forward. Now let me preface, at no time, was I warned about another event.
Due to the weather the day of and having a cloudy/cold morning, guests arrived to swim around 2 pm, instead of the initial 12 pm. Given the hours of the pool 6 am - 9 pm and the pool pass times, I thought this should be fine and confirmed with hotel management. They told me it would not be a problem because we had pool use through the evening and could even update our keycards for bathroom access should anything go wrong. Again, I was not informed of any other event.
Around 3:15 pm, hotel staff rudely came and began kicking my guests and my son out of the pool. Rudely yelling at children, 5 and 6 yr olds, to get out of the pool. This is beyond inappropriate but not where my issue ends, sadly.
When I spoke with hotel management, they said they could extend the use of the room we had also reserved beyond 4 pm to accommodate. I said this would not work because I live two blocks away, if it was space I was reserving or visiting the hotel for that could work but we were here to swim for my sons birthday. They repeatedly told me all they could do was extend our room time but we must evacuate the pool area and could no longer swim.
Embarrassed and frantic, after inviting 9 guests to join us who were now being kicked out of the pool and trying to drag their soaking wet children away from the pool, I called the manager again and said it was unacceptable and I wanted a refund. She said the best she could do, after making us wait, soaking wet without access to towels (since they're near the pool they made us evacuate), she said she could transfer us to another hotel nearby.
At this point, kids are whining and cranky and it is too much work to uproot 12 people and transfer to another location so guests decided to leave. Desperate to try and save my sons birthday that had now been ruined- my partner and I decided to go to the other hotel so we could at least swim with my son.
Upon arriving, we see a pool that 1/8 the size of the pool we reserved that was NOT heated. It was so frigid we could not use the pool. We then decided to order birthday dinner and at least eat and enjoy the view. When the hotel staff came to deliver the food, they dropped the tray of our food all over the floor. We then had to wait for them to recook all of our food and deliver it again.
Not even five minutes into eating, the hotel manager comes and says we need to leave. I was confused because we had just began eating. She claims she told the other hotel we could only use the pool for 1 hour. I explained we couldn't use the pool at all because it is frigid and we just had our meal delivered. We Aldo had the delivery guy turn on one of their portable fire places because it was so cold. She tells me, we can pack our food to go. I refuse because I certainly didn't just pay $300 for a meal to pack to go. And wine that I would have to leave behind because, I can't leave the property with wine. She tells me, if we are not leaving then she's turning the fireplace off and we have 10 minutes to finish our fo

Overall a spacious well maintained property. It's huge, so there was an extremely long walk from the elevator to our room so we asked for a room closer to the elevator and changed rooms after one night. Rooms didn't seem crowded, the 2 chairs in the room were both comfortable for my 300 pound self, which was great. There was only one grab bar in the bath tub in non-accessible (I think) room. At least I hope it was a non-accessible room! Rooms weren't tidied during the day. No place to hang used towels in the bathroom. Walking distance to the beach ⛱️ unless you have limited walking ability.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD.
I explained this issue several times various staff at the hotel, but I reserved 4 rooms at the Sonesta Redondo Beach for my wedding during Labor Day weekend. I emailed Dinara (their sales manager) and was provided a promotion as part of their wedding inspirations rate, which was supposed to waive the destination fee and discount self-parking. Upon CHECK IN, I confirmed with the front desk staff that all 4 rooms were booked under the wedding inspirations rate. Then, when I checked out, the front desk told me the rate would ONLY apply to 2 rooms out of the 4. I don't know why this was not specified at check in, when I specifically asked about it when I checked in. I even offered to show my email correspondence with Dinara WHICH INCLUDED ALL 4 CONFIRMATION NUMBERS saying that they were part of my wedding reservation. The front desk said they did not need to see the email, THEY PROMISED TO REFUND the destination fee for now, then they said that someone would call me from the billing department to dispute the charges. This turned out to be a LIE as I never received any refunds and no one from the billing department has contacted me (it's been about 2 weeks since I checked out).
Additionally, upon check in at 4pm, I was told I could only check into two rooms after 4pm. They said the other two rooms would be ready after 1 hour. I tried to check in for the other two rooms after 5pm. Guess what? The staff says only one more room is available at 5pm, and I have to wait another 1 hr for the final room. I checked in for the final room after 7pm without any apologies or concessions. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CHECK IN PAST THE PROMISED TIME AT ANY HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. And I have stayed at many hotels across the country and internationally.
To make matters worse, I was incorrectly charged $24.99 for breakfast food from the restaurant to one of my rooms. I have confirmed this many times with all of my family members and wedding vendors and everyone swore up and down that no ordered any breakfast food. I suspect the staff did this incorrectly due the volume of the visitors at the hotel for another conference that was going on at the same time. IF they have any security footage of any room service getting delivered to any of the rooms during my stay or even any footage of my family or vendors even stepping foot into their restaurant, I'd love to see it. Even at checkout, the front desk staff had difficulty keeping the numbers straight for my reservation, even though it should be pretty straightforward as the rooms were all under my name and I had all the room keys with me. This is the most ridiculous experience I have ever had.
The rooms were not in good condition. They were very old, dusty, and not kept up. The mirrors were not cleaned.
Overall, this is really the most atrocious customer service I have ever received at a hotel. Numerous members of the staff lied to me over and over again throughout my stay. Not only is this the worst service I have ever received, they ensured it happened on my wedding weekend, which was supposed to be one of the happiest times of my life. I tried calling their front desk staff manager Gladys several times this morning and of course there was no answer. Don't come here at all costs.

I'm not sure if the landscapers are employees of Sonesta or the City of Redondo, but my frustrations remain the same either way. They're using gas powered weed wackers at 7am which is incredibly annoying, especially as someone who lives across the street and typically doesn't wake up until after 8. It's rude as hell to be woken up by this and something needs to be done.
