Frustrating Experience with Teacher Last-Minute Communication I've been a parent at nihao for the past few years, and I must express my dissatisfaction with the frequent turnover of teachers at the school. It has been a recurring issue that not only disrupts the continuity of education but also leaves both students and parents feeling unsettled. One of the major concerns is the lack of transparency regarding these changes. It's disheartening to find out at the last minute that a teacher is leaving or being replaced. Effective communication is crucial in maintaining a healthy parent-teacher relationship, and unfortunately, this seems to be lacking in the current system. The sudden changes not only affect the students' learning experience but also create unnecessary stress for parents who are left scrambling to understand the reasons behind these decisions. It's essential for the school administration to address these issues promptly and provide more open communication channels to keep parents informed about any staffing changes well in advance. Furthermore, the constant turnover disrupts the establishment of a stable learning environment for the children. Building a connection with a teacher is crucial for a child's academic and emotional development, and the frequent changes hinder the development of such bonds.

Good teacher and bad director. My child enjoys the time going to school and often talks about the teachers' name(more like yelling their name haha). The teachers are patient and experienced. Through the chat with the teacher, we can immediately know child's situation at school today. However, here're a few points I need to mention. 1. When I recommend my friend, he told me that the director didn't speak Chinese. Just shocked that a director in a bilingual preschool doesn't speak Chinese. 2. One of friends went to pick up her child, the director picked up the wrong child. 3. I heard from other parents say that he has no education background. But I'm not surprised. After all, during school's activities, we can feel that he didn't often communicate with children or parents. After discussion with other parents, most of us chose another preschool. I have to say, the teacher is really great, but the situations above are also important for us.

My 4 year old daughter has been here in Nihao RB for more than half a year. She has a big brother, when her big brother went to preschool in the Bay Area, Northern California, he had a real hard time, he did not have any friend after staying for 1 year there. I started to worry about Julie, she was only 3 and half, being so shy, unable to speak English, unable to make friends, locked at home for 1 year due to Covid... I thought preschool would be so hard for her too. Since we just moved to LA at that time, no one recommended any preschool to me, but we almost decided immediately to let her journey start here in Nihao RB, after seeing how sweet the teachers are and how clean the campus is. She had a hard time in the beginning, crying every noon before nap time. If you had a kid, then you will know how much stress you are facing while your little one keeps whining for a long time, I couldn't always stay by her side and comfort her even though I'm her mom. But her teacher was doing much more than my expectation. Her teacher would take her out for a walk, comb her hair, give her hugs and tell her mom is coming soon every time she misses me. I feel so blessed that my daughter has such great teacher to take care of her in the beginning years of her life, the kindness and love will bring her a lot of power through out her life. Every kid goes to preschool but not every kid is loved by the teachers. One day my daughter came back home, she had a great smile on her face that day at dinner, she keeps telling us that "Ms.Jody says I'm a sweet girl." She even asks me to call her grandparents, uncles and aunts, letting them know that her teacher give her such great appraisal. She never stops telling me how much she loves her teachers, sometimes she would sneak into my room, looking for possible gifts for her teachers, or dig out coins from the piggy bank, or sometimes she even takes away snacks from the pantry, she wants to give every possible thing to her teachers. Kids do not lie on this, I can't imagine how much love the sweet teachers showed her, that she loves them so deeply. In the past half a year, we see great change in her: She starts to have crush on handsome little guys, and dares to hold his hand bravely; can't stop dancing like a tornado at home; keeps singing loud during shower, etc., it seems that non of these above are great achievements, but I know how hard it is for a 4 year old girl to do all those. She couldn't have done those without great self-confidence, since both of me and my husband are so busy, we don't even have time for a bedtime story for her, I would say that Nihao give her 99% of her good qualities.

I am very excited to share with you the many changes that my three-and-a-half-year-old son Anthony has made since he went to kindergarten We are the first time to come to "Nihao Chinese Preschool" on Mar22/2021 in just over two months. The language has greatly improved, from the previous only speaking words to the current short sentences! Of course, this includes Chinese, English and Spanish! The daily work and rest time has gradually become regular. Now sometimes he sits by himself Come down and scribble quietly for a while, know that he has never been idle before! Very good teacher Team! Recommended Nihao Chinese Preschool Redondo Beach School District

Our daughter first attended Ni Hao Ni Hao Redondo Beach school in-person when she was 3.5 years old and the teachers and staff were exceptional in making my daughter and us comfortable with the transition from another preschool (pre-COVID). Our daughter had previously attended a daycare/preschool from 6 months old to 3.5 years old and we were initially concerned about the transition for her. Needless to say, the teachers at Ni Hao Redondo Beach helped all of us with the transition by providing us with daily reports on her progress and integrating her with other students. They also utilized an app (Bloomz) which we found helpful in learning about her daily activities as well as keeping apprised of the school's announcements and news. All of the teachers at Ni Hao RB are warm, kind, intelligent and caring. Our daughter adored all of her teachers, from Judy, Grace, Mia, Zulema and Emma. Besides instructing our daughter in a new language, the teachers at the Ni Hao Redondo Beach School showed compassion in their teaching standards, emphasized the importance of values and cultivated my daughter (and each child) into leaders and compassionate people through their classes and lessons plans. We were amazed at how quickly she picked up the language and was either singing songs in Chinese or saying phrases. We also loved the holistic nature of the curriculum, from learning Spanish, soccer and Kung Fu, to the performances and family activities. Beyond just being a preschool, Ni Hao RB created a community with its students, parents and teachers, and it was felt the moment you stepped foot onto the school. When COVID-19 first hit, Ni Hao Chinese showed how remarkably prepared and capable they were and within two weeks of the mandatory school shut-down, Ni Hao Chinese was able to transition into online learning. Our daughter continued her learning with Ni Hao RB teachers through their online program which did an amazing job of engaging students through projects, videos, and worksheets. Though our daughter has since transitioned from Ni Hao RB, we're grateful it was a part of her early years and it's made an impact. She frequently tells me that she misses her teachers from the school and we still keep in touch with a few teachers and parents. Thank you Ni Hao RB for instilling a love for languages, culture and learning for our daughter!

My son attended kindergarten at Ni Hao Redondo and absolutely loved it. He adored his teacher, Grace, and the Spanish teacher, Ms Zulema. We do not speak Mandarin at home so I'm extremely impressed with how much his Chinese improved while at Ni Hao. He also picked up some Spanish and sign language. Grace is caring and very creative and always has fun activities planned for the kids. I am so pleased with the education he received at Ni Hao.

Great preschool. The director Emma and teachers (Grace, Peggy, Nina, Ms. Zulema, and Ms Brighton) are caring. The kids are well behaved. The classrooms are neat and clean. My daughter has been attending the older kids class since Fall of 2018. She learned a lot of Mandarin and also Spanish in a short amount of time. They have an English teacher to teach English and we feel like my daughters reading skills has improved as well. The kids put on mini shows and they have activities during the holidays so parents can get to know each other as well.

My son attended the summer camp here last year and had a fantastic experience and learnt A LOT of Mandarin. We wanted him to continue in the fall, but they had a long long wait list. This year, I signed up a full 2 months summer camp super early. When we showed up, we found out the director and almost all the teachers were changed, but having been in their HQ Torrance location for after school program the entire year, I wasn't too concerned for my son. A couple of weeks in, my son started to complain about the summer camp being boring, despite that they do have a lot of projects everyday. I was very concerned and wrote a review voicing our thoughts here on Yelp. A couple of hours later, I received a phone call from the HQ to check in and see what was going on. I was impressed with how fast they took action to address our concerns. Then on the following Monday, the HQ sent someone over to observe the school. The director and the teacher also spent time talking to me to figure out why my son was not enjoying his time at the summer camp. I told them I suspected the science projects might be too abstract and not related enough for the kids. Children this age need to be able to relate whatever they're learning to their daily life for the ideas to really soak in and to get intrigued. But on the other hand, some projects were way too simple and not challenging enough for him. When I complained to the director about the English class being too simple for him (thus acting up) and the school actually made adjustment to try their best to accomodate his ability. You must know that most schools will not bother to suit your child's needs, so I was very impressed by that. When my son went to their HQ Torrance location, some of the teachers even worked with him on fractions because they found out he was very interested in math and could tackle fractions even though he was not even 5 yet. For the care, thoughtfulness, and flexibility, Ni Hao 100% gets 5 stars, the reason I still can't give this particular location a 5 star rating is the organization - Schedules are out kind of last minute and notices are usually not put up in school. Once the organization is up to par, I'd be more than happy to update it to a 5-star rating!

My husband and I have toured 30 plus preschool, nanny, daycare etc. options since having our two kids. Having a great place for the kids to be at while we work is so important to us. Here are some things we love about Ni Hao Redondo: 1. Teachers are really caring and happy there. I can tell my kids are very happy there too. 2. Teachers are all native Mandarin speakers and they speak a lot to the kids. Both my kids (aged 2 and 4) speak Mandarin beautifully thanks to the teachers. 3. Teachers are really great at encouraging the students to speak to each other in Mandarin. When the kids use Mandarin with their peers during playtime and projects, this really increases their proficiency with he language. I am very grateful for this component. I think it makes a huge difference. Not all language immersion schools or language teachers are successful with encouraging students to use Mandarin with each other. 4. They have a philosophy that learning should involve different senses and experiences therefore, they incorporate lots of singing, movement, projects, even giving butterfly eggs to interested students so they can observe the life cycle of butterflies. 5. Extra curriculum activities: Kung fu, cooking class, soccer, yoga. 6. All staff put a lot of effort into making ni hao a great place. 7. Time for the kids to draw anything they like. I think that this really allows children to be creative. I have really enjoyed seeing my son's drawings of ceiling fans, electrical wiring, cars, people, fireworks, construction machines etc. Most schools only have cookie cutter art projects where all kids have to produce a certain product. With space to create, kids can exercise creativity, practice having ideas and executing them and confidence can come from these little projects!

I'm amazed at how much Mandarin my son is speaking just being there for 5 months. He recites poems and sings songs on Mandarin. He is learning quite a bit of Spanish as well. All the teachers are so caring, and he loves all the activities and enrichment classes - science, dance, kung fu, soccer, etc. We have experience many different preschools, and this is by far the best.

My son has been enrolled since opening day and he loves it! He doesn't want to leave at the end of the day! That is my first priority when looking for a preschool. It is my hope that he gets a strong foundation in Mandarin and Spanish that he can build upon as he grows older. The school itself is brand new. Very clean and secure. The children participate in lots of activities including a garden plot where they will be planting edible plants! The teaching staff is great! They are very patient with all my questions and seem genuinely interested in my son's success and emotional well being. This school is a perfect fit for our family!

I really wanted our son to attend a language program. Though there are a couple in the area - the schedules were mostly full time programs. This facility allowed us to pick 2, 3, or 5 days a week so my husband and I gradually introduce our son to a new routine. The facility is great - everything is brand new and clean. The instructors are caring and provide updates with every pickup. Looking forward to him learning Chinese, Spanish, and new skills!

A new Ni Hao Chinese location opened this month. The open house was 11/8. With the location being so new, only preschool and weekday classes are offered. This means no Saturday Chinese school or baby story time. At least, not until they stabilize and expand their client base. Other Ni Hao Chinese locations include Torrance (full offerings), Westchester (full offerings), Rancho Palos Verdes (preschool only), Santa Monica (limited offerings, located in third party school building). We are excited for this new location and seriously hope they will offer Saturday (and particularly SUNDAY) Chinese school classes!
