I just had a wonderful stay at this fantastic and tastefully decorated hotel! The hotel is located in a quiet part of the Marina, very close to a many things to do and good places to eat. My wife and I did the bike ride along the beach. I highly recommend The Portifino. Also, booking the Oceanside room was worth it!

Beautiful ocean view. I am here on a Saturday with no restaurant or room service during the afternoon or the evening when I returned just before 9:00 pm. Their room service is Extremely limited and the closest restaurants are about a 5 minute drive away. I am visiting alone and I did not want to venture out at night by myself, so I chose a hotel with room service, but that did not work out for me.

Deeply disappointed and jaded by this experience. Like a user below, we were also visiting for a 1-night staycation (we are locals in the area wanting to celebrate our 8 year anniversary) which the staff was aware of. We even upgraded our room for a fee because of the occasion. The first evening was fine except for upgrading to an ocean view with the patio covered in seagull poop and the screen door falling off its hinges all on its own- but the following morning at around 8:30, I woke up to find vomit on the ground outside our front door. I checked because i wanted to make sure our room service breakfast order we were to leave on the door handle before 6am was retrieved (it was). I then, verbally alerted house cleaning that happened to be down the hall at the time. All they did was put towels over the mess. Our breakfast was expected to arrive between 8:30-9 but by 9:15, there was nothing. We tried using the room phone but that was non-functional saying the batteries were dead. My husband then went down to the front desk where they said they must have lost our ticket and unapologetically re-took his order that we gave from the night before. When they arrived with the food, it was 2x the cost that it was originally listed as on our guest menu. ($48 for a plate of fruit and American breakfast)...and we didn't even get the coffee and juice we also ordered. We are redondo beach residents who travel often and have never experienced such a disheartening, "smoke and mirrors" situation before. This hotel puts money where the general people can see it but do not invest where it truly matters. We will never return nor ever refer this place to people who are looking to visit. Unfortunately, because we were so shocked about our visit here, we will continue to share our story to anyone who asks about Portofino hotel and marina.

I had the most marvelous vacation I've had in many years at the Portofino. I had a wonderful room in the northwest corner overlooking the pool and the ocean. The room was perfect and very well appointed. In the closet, I found a large beach towel and a lovely cotton robe for pool and jacuzzi. I enjoyed visiting with local friends, walking around the marina and a couple of meals at Baleen, the Portofino's signature restaurant. There are a number of pleasant restaurants in the area and enjoyable walks. In addition, time in the jacuzzi was well spent and relaxing. Returning home, I'm enjoying the opportunity to reflect on my trip. While I miss the elegance and comfort of my short term abode, I brought a whole new catalog of sights and activities home to enjoy at my leisure like a favorite wine. I would have liked to bring the staff home. From the front desk, valet and waitstaff to the dedicated cleaning service and hotel maintenance, this local institution is first rate and loaded with smiles. I highly recommend a visit!

Where do I begin?!! The Portofino Hotel & Marina was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! We booked this venue for our wedding . From day one all the way to today, a few days after the wedding, all the staff we encountered has been excellent!! Specifically I want to give a shout out to Sierra, Rain, Luis, Paco, & Mac & Melanie. Sierra was my main hotel wedding coordinator and contact. She was so responsive, attentive, organized, sweet, available, and amazing!! I couldn't be happier with her and her services. The entire experience was seamless. We planned an entire wedding in under 2 months together as I was eager to marry my man this year. She was so helpful and explained any and all things when I had questions. Starting with booking the venue all the way to the day after the wedding. Everything was so organized, including the deadlines of decisions I needed to make, and payment info, and what to do if it rained (which it didnt! phew!). She had everything covered and made my life so easy. THANK YOU THANK YOU SIERRA!! Rain was also another venue coordinator & catering sales manager who helped us too and he was amazing as well. He stepped in when/if Sierra was out of the office and he attended our tasting and answered so many questions as well. He was so nice, sweet and great to work with. Very organized and never missed a beat! Thank you Rain!! Luis, the director of Banquets, handled anything food and drink related and everything was perfect. He even placed two of each hors d'oeuvres at our sweetheart table (knowing we probably wouldn't get a chance to eat them during cocktail hour as we were busy mingling) and he was right!! It was such a sweet, simple gesture that made a big impression on us. Paco was one of the Bartenders from the day of (I never got a chance to meet our other bartender) and he was so fun and cheerful and positive and an overall great spirit. Guests kept telling me how much they loved Paco and me too! Mac worked on the hotel side and we met him when we checked in and he handled ALL our luggage and he also golf carted me around on the actual wedding day so I didn't have to walk too much. He was super sweet and was so helpful and had a great vibe! Also, my initial point of contact was Melanie who responded to my initial venue request. She was so great and helpful and responsive that right away we were sold and we booked the venue the next day without ever even seeing it in person. On top of all the AMAZING staff, the venue is just absolutely beautiful!! You can't find a prettier ocean front venue in the So Cal. Just gorgeous. We chose a type of all-inclusive wedding package that included a sit down 3-course dinner, open bar, ceremony, hotel room, wedding cake, and many more perks such as white linen, candles on each table, arch on the ceremony grass, champagne toast, etc. It was perfect, efficient, organized and made my life so easy. I really didn't have to do much except invite guests and show up!! many of my guests told me afterward they were so impressed with the staff, venue and the food!!! Seriously, the food was excellent. I know all of this sounds too good to be true but honestly it was. I had zero problems, no horror stories, nothing. It truly was a PERFECT day. I also found out afterward that a coworker of mine got married here too this past summer and she said the same thing. Her day was perfect as well and I am not surprised at all. Thank you to everyone at the Portofino! We cant wait to come back just to enjoy the restaurant, the views and the excellent service

Love the Portofino! Luxury accommodations that are worth the price. This is the only hotel in town and prob all of LA where you can enjoy a true ocean view from your room's balcony. The balconies extend out to the ocean and so it's a truly unique experience. It's expensive to book an oceanfront room vs the Marina side but worth it if you can spare the expense. Or if you're lucky enough and you've booked directly through the hotel you MIGHT get your suite upgraded to the ocean side, which I had happen the first time I stayed here! The rooms are beautiful and picturesque inside (great for wedding getting ready photos), and the in hotel restaurant (Baleen Kitchen) is pretty tasty for breakfast or dinner with nice service: There is also a nice lobby bar downstairs with live music and a gorgeous fireplace.Tip: look through the packages offered on their site to get a better value that includes the parking and/or resort fees covered.

Stop the Cap! This place is awesome! I'm biased because I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite for my birthday. Now I can't imagine this happens to everyone but I'll share what I did and it may help you're experience. I booked with the hotel direct. I mentioned it was my birthday and I wanted to see the sunset. I originally had beach side 1st floor. I can't imagine it would of been the same thing. Someone in the background was looking out for me because they made it happen. Ashley, who made the reservation, was helpful and patient as was all the staff I encountered. You need to be on the beach side on either the 2nd or 3rd floor. It's all about the sunset. Now would not be the time to save. If you're going to do it, do it right! The room was incredible.

The location of The Portofino can NOT be beat! The marina with the boats can be seen from the hotel as well as the Baleen Kitchen. The ocean front property is gorgeous. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout. The lobby is fabulous with ocean views, a bar, and a fireplace. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The organic products in the bathroom and robes were a nice touch. The receptionist was very warm and welcoming. We had dinner at the Baleen Kitchen and it was really tasty! I'd highly recommend staying at The Portifino.

This a a cozy yet modern hotel that is close to lots of popular beaches in the LA area. We've stayed here a few times now and Chelsea at the front desk always goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thanks Chelsea! Also want to give a shout out to Ben for help with our bike rental.Last but not least, the restaurant here (Baleeen Kitchen) is a hidden gem. The scallops, California burrito, and Swordfish are some of our favorites. If you are looking for a nice hotel to stay that is clean, safe and close to Hermosa, Manhattan, and Redondo beach, this is a great fit!

All things considered (view, staff, rooms, bed, tp, & layout ) this place was a 5 stars.... Technically maybe more of a 4 star when compared to hotels everywhere but when compared to hotels in the area and the price paid... this was hands down a near perfect experience One way to always know where a hotel stands on the little things is look at the tp- they had angel soft which isn't cheap and they care about guests private parts and having a smooth experience The ocean view rooms were amazing and the layouts were a little different with the 2 we had. Still awesome !
