I came here with a family member who was in need of urgent care. She had been battling pain for a couple of days and needed to go to the emergency room. I dropped them off and then parked. As I was making my way towards the entrance where I left them, One of the workers came out to meet me. He asked if I could be helped by him and I said that I was here with my family member. He then rolled his eyes and told me that the emergency room was packed and that there was a potential for infection as there was a high case of Covid patients. I thanked him for his concern and stood outside to communicate with my family member via text message. What makes this a one star review is the fact that two new people walked into the emergency room, and this worker did not speak to them or stop them or even meet them outside as they were walking in. I understand that the workers have to do their job to prevent the spread of any type of sickness, but I think it is important to be consistent across the line. Someone might think that what he did to me as opposed to what he did to them is discriminatory. There were other people who went in after me and I found it a little uneasy that he allowed them to at least get into the entryway and he made an appointment to meet me outside to stop me. Again, I understand that he needs to do his job as do the other people but consistency is key. On another note, if there is a high risk of Covid infection, would it not make sense to go back to the protocols of extending the emergency room to the parking lot? Anyway, none of this makes sense to me. The hope is my family member is treated, and treated with respect while I am not in there to advocate for them. When I told my family member that I was not allowed to go in, they found that rather odd because they were not stopped the same way that I was. Again, consistency. On a sidenote, workers were on break should not be in the front of the hospital on their cell phones. It looks bad. And if these workers are going in and out of the emergency room, should they not be in a place where they can prevent the possible spread of anything? I doubt that disestablishment will read this because of how large of a business it is, but I thought I would put it here anyway just so people know.

The doctor was awesome however, the nurse was about as heartless as nurse Ratchet! I hope I never have to go through her ever again...such a rude woman!

The nurse here in Department A turned me away even though I got in a horrible bike accident telling me I needed an appointment. I also made two calls prior to arriving to confirm this location accepts walk-ins and they said yes both times. She also gave false medical information and said I could get a tetanus shot “whenever, a year or many years after” getting major open wounds on my body. Multiple medical experts in and outside of Kaiser said I need to get it within 72 hours of the injury or I risk getting tetanus.I am really astonished at this poor treatment of patients who are undergoing severe pain and are at risk of infection.

Trying to understand why my co pay has gone up so much. I just don't understand. This place is pretty clean, lots of foot traffic. The doctors are great. I think they just have too many patients to really give you accretions care.

I have 2 different stories about this Redwood City Kaiser location, all of them positive experiences. Let's start off with the past.Year 2018: For years I've had the worst tummy aches. Time finally caught up to me one night where I just couldn't shake my pain away. Called up Kaiser's hotline, told them my symptoms. They had a doctor call me back and he told me to head toward the ER immediately! My husband drove me and by the time he had parked the car and came back, I was already assigned a bed, and hooked up to an IV. Found out after being there all day, took an MRI and Ultrasound, to find out that I had a inflamed gallbladder that needed to be removed ASAP! A surgeon came into my room, talked to me, gave me the rundown, I gave him my thumbs up. They did an amazing job. Yes, there was a lot of pain having my abdomen cut up, but they saved my life.Year 2020 (COVID): Back in 2015 I was told that I have 2 fibroids living on my uterus. My OBGYN back then wasn't that great, she said to wait out menopause. Got a new doctor who said, girl you can get this fixed, do you want to? I figured during this time the world is closed, lets do it! I opted for the Uterine Fibroid Emobilization surgery. Was assigned a surgeon who did a video chat with me, told me what to expect. My experience was outstanding, during the procedure I had no clue it was happening! The gave me enough pain meds and anti-nausea meds, that I was able to leave the same day. Checked in at 6:30am and left at 6pm.I'll end on the note that my father in-law is a local retired medical doctor. After my first surgery, he expressed that this specific Kaiser is really good, and that I was lucky to go there. I highly agree with him. To those of you out there who are like me and have some body hiccups, please don't hesitate and find ways to heal. Best of luck to you all.

I'm impressed by Kaiser and their ability to provide preventative care. It's a little annoying to get transferred around to make an appointment on the phone, but it's made up by having great medical care and pharmacy integration. I went to Lynn West, NP in OBGYN. Great bedside manner. She's super easy to talk to and is very knowledgable and professional. She's fast and efficient so I was quickly in and out with everything handled. One area to improve on is sharing information between people at Kaiser. I swear I answered the same questions 10 times. A few times on the phone to make the appointment, a few times during the appointment to different medical staff.

Thank you Kaiser ICU doctors, nurses, and staff for taking great care of our mom during her last days here in this life. Thank you for being understanding, patient, sympathetic, and compassionate towards our family and letting us call everyday at every hour to check on the status of her. You were there for her when we could not be there due to this covid situation. You made her as comfortable as possible and you did all you could. On behalf of our family we appreciate all you've done. I truly believe she had the best team and care. Special thank you's to Dr. Rao, Dr. Cullen, and the neurology team. We appreciate all you've done and being transparent yet empathetic to us towards the situation. You guys hold a special place in our hearts.Donor network team- Sal, Ron, and Margie. Thank you for making this process smooth and easy for us. Your communication with us was amazing and very down to earth every step of the way. Our mom is blessed to have been able to give the gift of life to others who need it. We are so proud of her. Her legacy will live on. Went into the emergency room due to some skin inflammation that had gotten worse. Checked in and was ready to go home in less than 30 minutes with prescription in hand! Huge shoutout to Vadim Keyfes (M.D)! Super polite and outgoing! Makes you not feel scared of going to the hospital for a doctors visit lol. Not too many doctors working long hours with that great attitude but I understand! Please make sure he gets recognized by my gratitude.

What an amazing team at Kaiser Redwood City. I had the unfortunate need to go to the emergency room and was amazed at the quality of care. Everything was perfectly organized and they got me in and out as quickly as possible. My thanks and appreciation to the nurses, the doctors and personnel of the hospital.

I really have to give Kaiser a shout out. I've met with some of the kindest, most compassionate doctors and nurses there. Every time I have an appointment I feel truly cared for and walk away with a smile on my face. It's really wonderful.

This place is a joke!!!! I brought my mom in because she COULD NOT SPEAK, or STAND, and half her body went numb... I went in with my mom to get her treated & the nurse requested I move my car from the red zoned loop, so I did. but upon returning they said I couldn't go back inside... WHAT THE F***? She can't speak, she can't stand, & she can't comprehend what's happening. She's calling me on her cell phone from inside, scared, straining to get the small mobility to text me and ASK for them to let me in & they're refusing. I could go on but in sum, this place is trash. Don't take your loved ones here, save this place for your absolute worst enemies. Even then, I'd feel bad bringing them to RWC Kaiser.

It was my mom's first time being at Kaiser Redwood City and we needed help in regards to the medications needed and many questions about her health conditions. It was a humbling experience to see one of the Internal Medicine doctor's (Dr. Kirth Cucueco) take time out of her day to help us out and settle everything we were stressing about. Usually my mom goes to a different branch but today due to certain circumstances we had to go here. Don't hesitate in coming to this hospital. To see her compassion in helping patients I can definitely see a reflection of the hospital's mission/vision through her. Thank you again Kaiser Redwood City for your help today. Today is definitely not my last time I'll be going to the hospital and I'll definitely recommend you to my friends and family.

Original review ~ Dec 2019 My experience as a patient at Kaiser Permanente: In 2018, I scheduled a preventive care checkup with my primary care physician, Collin Reed, MD when it was due. His office canceled my visit less than 24 hours in advance, leaving me unable to, instead, schedule a client in my business. I rescheduled my appointment with the doctor. And again: one of Dr Reed's assistants canceled less than 24 hours before the appointment. Concerned about the delay I chose to meet with another physician in Dr. Reed's office. However, I was only allotted 5 minutes for an entire yearly check-up that year. Come 2019, I again scheduled my annual checkup with Dr. Reed. As in 2018, his office canceled with less than 24 hours notice. Two more times this year I scheduled with the Collin Reed, my primary care physician, and those appointments as well were canceled with insufficient notice to fill the allotted time with clients in my business. In total then, Dr. Reed cancelled five physical checkup appointments with less than 24 hours notice during 2018/19. I consequently incurred hundreds of dollars in lost income. If I ran my affairs as Dr. Reed handles his appointments, I would lose my business, and certainly my clients' confidence. The strong message of these events is that Kaiser does not value patients' time. If the organization invested a quarter of the money it spends on TV advertising on customer satisfaction, Kaiser might run more productively. UPDATE Jan 27, 2020: After registering a complaint with the member services team at Kaiser for the series of canceled appointments with my primary care physician, (see below) I was assigned a representative. She told me that my experience with Kaiser was 'abominable' and then asked me what Kaiser could do to ameliorate the situation. I suggested to be reimbursed for my out-of-pocket expenses that resulted from the series of late cancellations. She got back to me a few weeks later with the happy news that I would be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses and that a check would be issued. No check arrived for those expenses and the member services representative subsequently rescinded the promise to me in an encrypted e-mail. One might imagine that maybe Kaiser's law department reversed the decision, putting the member services representative in a bind. If that was the case, I would have appreciated an explanation of this fact. As it went, the retraction of the promise of reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs was cold and without explanation. After announcement of the reversal of reimbursement, I reached out to the representative through e-mail and voice mail and there was no response. I have no insight as to what caused this reversal.
