The Watershed Nursery is a California native plant grower and retail location in the San Francisco Bay area, founded in 2001. It is hands down a favorite nursery for natives, considered the best in the East Bay. The nursery offers a wide variety of high quality, healthy, clean, and beautifully well-kept plants, all of which are pesticide-free. This includes species specifically suited for restoration projects. The containers they use make a huge difference, and their procedures are designed to maximize out-planting success. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, experienced, and wonderful, providing helpful human feedback and great suggestions. The signs above each section are beautiful and give a lot of information about sun exposure and water requirements, going beyond simple categorization. It is a fun place to look around at all the wonderful native species, where one can feel like a kid in a candy store. Prices are good and right. While parking can be tight, there is no stress. The nursery is highly suggested for anyone starting a California native garden or looking for plants like milkweed for pollinators.

Really appreciate that they have the source county for many of their plants, it's rare to get that kind of information! So, you can get some hyper-local stuff! Helpful staff, good selection. Happy to have them around!
