I would write zero stars if I could. I asked if I could get a sausage and cheese croissant and was met with complaints from the cashier about how long it would take and how busy he was. Sympathetic, I asked if a cream cheese bagel would be easier but was cut off and rudely told no and that both would take a long time. I reluctantly paid my $7 for my croissant not without more grumbling from the cashier. I later waited 25 minutes for my croissant and was later told to leave the premises and not to come back after sitting outside near others that were smoking. Would not recommend anyone to come here due to the terrible service and the fact that they took money from me. ZERO STARS.

Such a disappointing experience. My sister and I had EMPTY coffee cups from early that morning that we were going to throw away when we walked in. As soon as we walked in the staff yelled "outside drinks!" I tried to explain that they were empty and that we were customers but the staff didn't seem to care. He told us to leave. I just wanted a croissant and to study for my exam lol. I won't be going back.

Great place to chill and join friends. The open mics they host downstairs are great, with tons of food and drink options. Staff is real friendly, definitely going back.

Not sure why they don't have 5 stars?! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! Great options, Amazing drinks, Great atmosphere and affordable! It's a cute vintage looking cafe, with alot of events that they host. It's my new study place but in the afternoon it gets busier and the vibe is still great! Just not as quiet as the mornings here. The staff is very welcoming and so is the atmosphere and furniture! There's days I've spent 5hrs here and nobody bothers you at all. You start to feel like you're studying in your own home after awhile lol The Matcha Latte with Amaretto is amazing!

I've been here a number of times to try and give it the benefit of the doubt. Though on a few instances it was a good experience (nice vibes, cool ambience), there is just this one barista that makes me not want to come here. He constantly gives attitude while I'm actively being polite. It wasn't even like I was asking for anything extra - quite literally was just ordering some coffee and a snack so I could study. But he had trouble following what kind of bagel I wanted, and instead of asking to clarify, he got frustrated and began to raise his voice. I've worked in food service, and was a barista at a local business for many years while being a full-time student; I know it can really suck sometimes, but that's no reason to act like a child and throw a mini-tantrum over a simple order. This guy needs to learn some basic patience. Lord forbid he's in any managerial role. If it wasn't for this one employee, I would've gladly have given a 4, or even a 5. Disappointed.

Very rude customer service. Didn’t really know where to throw away my plates and napkins so I asked one of the workers which responded with “Where do you think?”

Terrible service here. The girl working here in the orange beanie and anime earrings was extremely rude. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, she "checked" to make sure she had one and said she did. She called my order and When i go to the counter to pick up my food she gave me a piece of bread with cream cheese and said she had no more bagels. I'm standing there trying to figure out what to do because this is not what I ordered and she goes "what are you guys waiting on what's the deal here". I wasn't asked if i wanted a replacement or refund. Then I ask if she has butter or jam instead of cream cheese and she gives me more attitude. Terrible food, terrible experience. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone just based on this girl working here.

?Great Study Space?☕? Huge Selection of Drinks?? Cool Weekly Events? Reasonable PricesBack To The Grind is a one of a kind café experience! One of the biggest reasons that people go to cafés is for the atmosphere and I have never been anywhere that has such a unique identity as this café. The café somehow manages to foster a space that feels welcoming to liveliness while maintaining the coziness for a quiet study session. Couches next to interesting decorations on one side of the space and smaller tables near the front windows ensure that everyone finds what they're looking for. In addition, the interior design has such a special profile of chicano decoration, fantasy, and Chicago style brickwork that will give you plenty of material for inspiration. Finally, Back To The Grind takes advantage of its space for the community of Riverside by offering regular weekly events like jazz night and painting night. I wish I had come here earlier!20/25

Horrible customer service. Not only was I given a poorly made drink, but when I asked if I could have it remade or be given a cheaper drink (after waiting for the rush to die down, at that) I was met with rude remarks. I was told that I was trying to get a free drink and “things don’t work that way.” I could not drink the coffee at all, so it was quite full. When the barista remade the drink, he was slamming equipment and was talking loudly and poorly about our interaction. I was made too uncomfortable and decided to leave, but the barista began to say things loudly at me in front of the other customers. It was humiliating and highly inappropriate. This is not a welcoming environment.

Just discovered this place while on the road, and stopped in for a fruit smoothie. Looks like a great neighborhood place, with lots of community-focused events. Will check it out more next time in town longer.
