UCR ARTS is a vibrant cultural hub located in downtown Riverside, California, combining the California Museum of Photography and the Barbara & Art Culver Center of the Arts. This venue stands as the West Coast's premier university photography museum and contemporary art center, showcasing a variety of groundbreaking exhibitions, performances, and programming. Visitors appreciate the importance of UCR ARTS as a public resource, especially for educating younger generations about the diverse forms of art. While the museum is spacious and features rotating exhibits, some visitors have noted that it can occasionally feel underwhelming due to limited displays, especially when parts of the space are being prepared for installation. Despite this, many find it an enjoyable and free experience, ideal for leisurely visits or casual dates. The interactive exhibits, such as the goggles for enhanced viewing, add to the appeal. The museum is not usually crowded, allowing guests to enjoy the art in a serene setting. Free parking is available nearby, making it accessible for all. Overall, UCR ARTS is a unique place to explore photography and contemporary art, with a focus on student works and a welcoming atmosphere.
Free admission. Wonderful photography collections. Docents were very helpful. Note that no food or drinks are allowed, and large bags must be left at the front counter. Pencils also available for use, as pens are not allowed for sketching.

Although it is a large museum, there were not many works of art to see because much of the space was being prepared for installation. It was very disappointing.

there was absolutely no diversity in the photography museum but everything else was pretty good
