This review took me a while to write. I really tried to push it away as I’m not about spreading negativity. My motto is if you don’t like it, don’t say it. Writing this review though was some sort of a duty for me. I have membership for all So Cal clubs so you name it, I’ve been there. Very unfortunately, I happened to be in Palos verdes area on a Sat a few weeks back so I thought to myself to give this location a try. To this day, and as I’m writing this review, it makes me vomit what I saw… the locker room (women’s) was so filthy and dirty. Hair everywhere on the floor. At some point, I had to literally close my eyes (how sad) so I didn’t have to look down to see the floor filled with hair while dressing up and I thought to myself, if I don’t leave in the next 2 min, they are gonna deal with my throw up on the floor (this is how disgusting it was). The showers (I checked all I could) were 3 feet by 3 feet, no hook to hand your stuff and one would bump into the walls with the tiniest movements while showering. The yoga studio has such an unwelcoming vibe (the ceiling was like an industrial ceiling rather than a warm welcoming soothing vibe a yoga studio should have). The only thing that was worth a star (hence I gave one star) was the staff. They weren’t rude or anything. Thank god I don’t pay for this club only. I don’t understand how they are a part of Equinox clubs with this super low level of quality and standards. I felt obligated to share my experience here so hopefully they do something about the issues. Other equinox clubs shine from cleanness . It an amazing feeling to be at any of the clubs I’ve been to. This one though, was the first and last time for me.

The gym is clean, but the hours are terrible for paying $200+. All other gyms are open from 5 am - 11pm or later. This gym closes at 8pm on a Friday and 5pm on weekends. That's ridiculous.

I've been a member a two different locations, but I have frequented several. I recently moved to Torrance and decided I would switch from the Culver city Equinox to Palos Verdes. I wish I had read these reviews before I made that decision. I agree with the majority of the complaints. Especially regarding the arrogance of some of the staff there.I am a big fan of relaxation and massages. So when I joined this club, I inquired about massage services from the massage therapist. He was really nice and informative. I thought he might be a personal trainer as well, because I always saw him talking with them and in meetings with them. At the Culver city club I purchased 12 personal training sessions, which wasn't cheap! But very useful, and I thought that would be a good deal to have a personal trainer and a massage therapist in one. Because they would know my work out routine and areas of focus. But soon after that, the guy wouldn't even look at me or say hello. When he is at the front desk with other staff members, and everyone says goodbye, he won't say anything or even look at me. It's very very strange. Because I wanted to ask if he was a personal trainer as well. But incense he started acting like he didn't even see me, I started to think twice.....I didn't understand what was going on. It felt like I did something to offend him. But I know I hadn't.I am black and also part of th LGBTcommunity. So im not sure if hes homophobic or racists . It's just weird. Then I started to notice all of the personal trainers stopped speaking to me anymore. I feel truly like the black sheep when I go there. I usually go to the steam room to relax, as I mentioned. But it's almost more stressful to go there, just based on the awkwardness of how they make me feel. On occasions the steam room had broken down so they allowed us to visit Manahttan Beach Equinox, without charge. And it's like night and day. It's much more diverse, accepting, and friendly. I am now considering transferring. My only hesitation is that the PV location is so close to my home. But I'm not sure if PV is worth me paying this price, just to make feel like an outsider. I think I'd rather drive farther, so I can feel relaxed and not feel so tense around certain members of the equinox team. It's like walking on egg shells. And when I say that and then think about the massage therapist, it makes my mind go crazy. Considering thats like their primary objective to help you relive tension, stress, and etc. ...That's just my opinion. The gym is always clean, but the welcoming part is something to consider, especially when paying the prices they ask. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, I just thought I would share my thoughts. Something just made me decide to read their reviews, so I wouldn't feel like I'm the only one experiencing this same situation, and it's very clear that I'm not.

Passed by that referenced place enroute to medical appointment nearby. That Equinox enterprise has no attraction to me or my ailing wife. Best regards to those who do choose to subscribe and accordingly participate in the programs offered by the Equinox chain.

I witnessed my girlfriend cancel a membership in person. We made a trip to the gym just to do that. Her son went to confirm it was cancelled too. We just found a renewal charge, for another year-long commitment. This place is unprofessional. It preys on the Palos Verdes community, with unreasonably high fees and fraudulent hiccups in cancelling membership.

Too many risks of exercising during extreme heat. Equinox failed to address HIGH heat in the Club for months. Expect muscle cramping, dizziness, headaches, and disorientation, especially after cardio. Cancelled membership.

This facility is unresponsive to patron complaints or concerns. Vinyasa Yoga is NOW called Vinyasa Yoga (HEATED). This NY company doesn't care about California patrons. Contract terminated.

Was spoken to in a rude and condescending manner by the gentleman at the front when exploring membership options.I know others that work out here, so I’m giving three stars because I know they’ve got good equipment.

The AC has been broken for over 9 weeks. The indoor temperatures are now routinely over 80 degrees when I'm there.I was told by the regional manager TWICE over a span of a month that the AC was fixed. BOTH times it was not fixed. It is Still broken. In my opinion, this gym is basically unusable at this point. I wonder if that's the "Luxury" experience they justify charging $200/month for

Been a member since 2018. They are starting to slip on maintenance. Today for the third time in 6 months, no razors in men's locker room. Also no q-tips. Sometimes when I complain they are able to restock on the spot, but today again (3rd time for razors)they said their supplier didn't deliver. There have also recently been times where no soap in the showers, no shaving foam, and had to wait on towels. There is a Target 100 yards away, so I suggested to the front desk they send someone over to get some supplies. This is an expensive gym so we shouldn't have to deal with this.

The AC has not worked for about 2-3 months, now with summer it’s getting even hotter inside the gym making it uncomfortable to workout. For months they have been trying to fix it but never seems to actually get fixed. Parts taking too long or not getting approved by management seems to be the story.I also don’t like the shorter hours and have to drive to Equinox South Bay to work out and have AC. Kinda ridiculous for the amount paid monthly, I hope this AC thing gets figured out already it’s been way too long

PV Equinox is a weird in between of great and terrible. There are so many nice things about the club like the layout, cleanliness, and the people who work there. On the opposite side, there are a lot of unpleasant things about the club like some subpar conditions, no enforcement of member standards, AND the people who work there . . .The maintenance and cleaning staff does an amazing job of keeping the facility spotless and sanitized. So that's a major point in PV's favor. However, the management of the facility does not do their job to ensure the facility is taken care of. For example, as of late the air conditioning for the gym has been broken. They can't open any doors or windows, so the solution has been to put one large fan in front of the cardio equipment. That's the solution for a gym without air conditioning in California in the summer. Last I checked, this was supposed to be a five-star gym. You need air conditioning. Members are still paying full price and not getting a full experience. I'll also say that there are quite a few malfunctioning cardio machines that have been pointed out over the years that are still there, so . . . yeah.In the interest of keeping this review as concise as possible, let's just get into talking about the people who work there next.As mentioned, the maintenance and cleaning staff are awesome and hardworking. All the front desk/reception and shop people have always been amazing and friendly as well.On the opposite side of the spectrum you have the "office people" -- the ones who give tours to new members and such. In general, most are people who are super nice to prospective members but never smile at current members--a lot of death glares and stone-cold looks. Would it kill them to say "hello" or give a smile/nod to people they pass? With the exception of Robin; they're really stuck-up, unpleasant people to have wandering around the club.Management fall in that in-between area. There have been some crummy managers here and there have been some cool ones. They change periodically though. The fitness managers, however, have always been SUPER nice. A recent one named Lindsey was great; their new one Jen is also a delight.Trainers also fall in the middle. There are some really kind, competent, solid people who work there like Aimee, Patrick, Yensil, and Hannah. Then there are some people with the personality equivalent of a wet cat like Nathan. And there are people like KRISTIE FOX, who (if I had their contact info) I would email Equinox corporate's legal team about because she is a lawsuit waiting to happen.I have seen a lot of trainers come and go at this gym, and I don't know if Equinox has tenure like universities do so they can't get rid of her, but I've never seen someone at Equinox less qualified to work there than Kristie Fox. She just doesn't know what she's doing, and I cringe when I see her working with clients because they trust her and they have no idea how many physical injuries she's caused others because of her reckless programs that she doesn't tailor to individuals. Speaking just plainly--Kristie Fox is bad at her job and shouldn't work here. So, to sum up, PV Equinox has some amazing aspects and amazing people, but some awful aspects and awful people. It is what it is. As long as you stay away from certain people though, it can be a decent experience most of the time.

$200 + per month JUST to use the weight room.... laughable. They don't seem to understand that just because some of us are affluent they will charge a silly rates and we'll just say sure. It's not if we can afford it, it's whether the service has meaningful ROI. This is a $125 per month club, charging $75 per month more than they should. That's how I see it.

The hours aren't friendly at this location and the toilet stalls could use a reno/upgrade. It's also a bummer that there's no dry sauna here. Otherwise, staff and equipment are great!
