“This post is regarding the adoption of our dog Sofee. (Sofee is a dog that someone returned because they were keeping her in an apartment.)I have waited over one year to write this.I cannot comment on to whether VIDA are good or bad people. The person I dealt with was a young lady and we didn’t speak more that 20 words but she was professional and appropriate.I contacted them. I filled out a form online and set up an appointment to meet the dog. The meet and great area is something to be desired, but at the same time this was the tail end of Covid.I am usually not one to write reviews but I felt it would be good because the review of our dog was very negative. We got a great dog. Troubled past being abandoned and then returned. It has taken time to make her who she is now. Sofee is amazing and just remember it is in the training.I have attached some pictures of Sofee’s amazing life.A word of warning. The average person should not own a cattle dog or border collie in my opinion. It is hard to provide what these breeds need , but if you can. They are the best.”

“My father recently died and I was looking for a place to take his old phonograph records. I'm glad to have found this place. I was impressed with this little shop and the behive of activity that was going on in and around this place when I arrived. I was treated politely and graciously. My father would have been pleased that I found this shop for some of his belongings. RIP, Dad. Keep up the great work, Friends of the Whittier Library Bookstore.”

“A friend of mine who volunteers her time with the Assistance League of Arcadia at the Bargain Box told me to check it out and so glad I did... 5 stars!!!!! If you are a fan of the Huntington Collection in Pasadena, you'll be sure to love the Bargain Box. Just like the Huntington Collection, I can't call it a thrift shop since it's not like any thrift shops I've been to! Looks more like an expensive antique shop when you step inside. I was blown away by the quality of the available merchandise, especially the housewares and decor. It's very evident that all of the pieces on sale were meticulously cleaned and staged by the hardworking staff. All of the furniture and housewares are excellent condition, not to mention very well priced. Make a point to visit before Halloween! The store is all decked out with Halloween decor! The Bargain Box is managed by the Assistance League of Arcadia, and one of their worthy endeavors is Operation School Bell, which provides much needed clothing as well as school supplies such as backpacks and books to children in need in neighboring local schools. There's a small parking lot but there should be plenty of street parking available if needed. Also, be aware that the store has limited hours since it's managed by volunteers. It's only open two days a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm.”

“OC United is a wonderful organization that I have volunteered with for several years. They help house young single moms, emancipated foster youth, people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. I specifically have helped with their Jobs for Life program, which is an 8 week class conducted in homeless shelters. The participants are matched with mentors who encourage and help them; acquire employment & housing. They help engage regular people with relational humanitarian work that makes lasting change. They are working currently to help create affordable housing in Fullerton.”

“I am so fortunate to have found this center in our community. I have been going here for a few months now to attend yoga twice during the week. It is a non profit and non denominational organization run by two sisters who are nuns. Both are extremely kind and so welcoming. They are passionate at serving their community and the well being of each other. I have gone to high end fancy yoga studios and have done private lessons before but nothing beats simplicity and coming back to basics. Following the traditional classical way of yoga is about uniting and anchoring the mind, body and spirit. Unfortunately most studios nowadays don't teach this! It is geared towards physical fitness but this center goes beyond the physical aspect, they teach mindfulness/awareness through ancient wisdom. The yogi/instructor is amazing. She is gentle enough to know what kind of stretches her class needs but will also incorporate some challenging posses to strengthen you. She'll explain the benefits of each stretch and pose. At the end of the class I walk out feeling invigorated and limber for sure!! I have taken my son with me a few times to do yoga and he enjoys it. Yoga classes are donation based $60/mo. They also offer a meditation class on Wed evening. They teach yogic breathing-pranayama. The sister will guide you through the different types of breath work techniques. It is very grounding and puts you in the present moment. It also helps with stress and anxiety. Breath work is a great tool to have in your daily practice. This is a great class to attend. The amount of knowledge and deep wisdom from the sister is invaluable! Class is an hour long. Personally speaking from my experience, yoga studios are great establishments , but if you are seeking to go deeper in your spiritual practice, I highly recommend this place. You will find it more enriching physically and mentally. I truly love the close knit community here from all walks of life...older and younger ages. All are welcome! This organization is such a gem to our city!”

“Generally a good place, with one improvement needed: serve the two lines more evenly so it's first come, first served.I appreciate the opportunity to get food for someone that is having a hard time right now. Most of the volunteers are very helpful and friendly. Sometimes they even offer to pray for you. However, they need to be more attentive to serving the two lines of cars more evenly. They claim that one line isn't faster than another, but it's not true.Tonight I made a mental note of the license plate of the last car in the other line (that I wasn't in) when I got in line. That car made it through the line much faster. So, I waited a lot longer than I would have if I had been in that line. I pointed it out to a worker and asked her to tell a supervisor. She agreed that they were "off-balance" tonight (serving one line more often than the other).I realize that it's a free service; however, it's frustrating to see other cars coming after you and getting served first. This has happened on other visits as well. It's about 45 minutes to an hour total from the time I start waiting in line until I leave. So, being served in first come, first served order would help.SUGGESTION: Give drivers an index card with a number on it as they arrive, then call them out in numerical order.”

“Had my daughter’s Sweet 16 celebration there. It was absolutely beautiful. The venue was exactly what we needed. I received many compliments, everyone loved it. The patio made it that much better, especially with the gazebo. Our guests had a wonderful time , both adults and kids(and there were a lot of teenage kids !) Arlene and Linda were very helpful with the process of the rental . Arlene was very accommodating, as there were many last minute details that I had not originally accounted for . I highly recommend this hall , you will not be disappointed.”

“AFL was such a great experience for my son as well as our entire family. I coached in the league for 5 years and we enjoyed the sense of fellowship, community, and fun competitive spirit that brought so many families and players together on Friday nights in a casual and welcome environment. The league is very well organized and offers the opportunity for every player to be an active member of an exciting and supportive, youth flag football team.”

“This is one of the two churches I visited back in Easter since I am new to the SGV and I have been looking for a new home church, after calling the one in Irvine my home church for close to 4 years. The people are friendly and welcoming. They even have a Young Adults group that I checked out once a few Sundays after my Easter visit.Like every big church, it is a bit of a challenge to make friends and build meaningful connections, but just like everything else in life; you get out of it what you put in. If I lived closer and started attending this church regularly, I am sure I'd be able to build a solid group of friends and to find a home in here.Highly recommended church if you're from the area!”

“I would give 10 out of 5 stars, if I could, for Elizabeth Mercer LMFT (therapist). Highly recommend. Dr. Portugal is great, too. This is a safe, welcoming place. We are always listened to and treated with respect and courtesy. We've had no problems accessing the services we need. There is usually a wait-list. Call right now if you need some help. Don't put it off. You may have to wait before getting an appointment. Don't miss your appointment. Everything will be okay.”

“This is probably the best hospital in the whole world! Excellent service! My father stayed in this hospital for a month after being treated in ICU in another hospital. Mani made us feel welcomed immediately and played a big role in keeping my dad stable by monitoring his heart and breathing closely . I am giving this hospital and their amazing NURSES, RTs, PTs and DOCTORS 5 STARS. They provided excellent care to my father. There were so many kind, compassionate and attentive nurses.
