We needed a getaway so we got one with Getaway House Big Bear. We came in August when there was a hurricane rolling through. We carefully drove up the mountain and loaded all our stuff in the cabin. It was nice, cute, quaint. We were so glad there was a heater/AC unit there to keep us warm during this storm. There were no leaks or anything! The place is quite small for 2 people and a medium dog but we made it work. Can't really complain much since they had a comfortable, decent-sized bed (full size I think), mini fridge, stovetop, sink, and a separate bathroom area.First night, all we did was drink in the cabin since it was a hurricane. We made sure to take this new hangover pill to make sure we were alright to hike the next day. It's always great being surrounded by nature. You have two options to choose from...either the forest or mountain view. We opted to pay up for the mountain view--but this is where my slight complaint is. We had a cabin that was like half mountain/half forest. There were other cabins there where the window next to the bed literally looked outward away from the mountain and had great views. We also didn't have hot water the first night we were there so we couldn't shower. They did come quickly the next day to help us out with this and got it fixed quickly. There are many trails nearby so we went on a long hike. Overall, I'd def come back.

The cabin was everything I wanted it to be except for very clean the bedsheets had not been changed and if they had been changed whoever changed it had hair all over them so my husband went out to our car and we got a couple of clean sheets and our pillows and we slept on top of those... Sadly like I say not as clean as it could be and it wouldn't of been hard to do that

After seeing the endless ads for this getaway on my Instagram, I finally gave in and booked! I am SO glad I did! What an incredible experience this was. We live in central California, so it was about a 4.5 hour trek for us to get here. We spent two nights in Cabin 17 (Mary) and the view was spectacular! I tried really hard to book cabin 18 (Tom) because I did extensive research before coming here and read it had the most epic view and was the most private cabin on the grounds. The company did not promise us that cabin, but stated they would do their best to accommodate us and they definitely came through. Our cabin was nestled amongst 2 other ones, but it provided the most privacy. These cabins are so cute and have all of the amenities you need for a MINIMAL getaway. This is definitely the ultimate "glamping" experience. They really have thought of everything. You literally just need to pack a bag, head over, disconnect, and unwind. The locations of these cabins are not super isolated. It's actually among a neighborhood and close to many luxuries. It's also close to many neighboring towns with grocery stores and restaurants. You can either come here and never leave the comfort of your tiny cabin or explore the surrounding area. You really do get what you see with these cabins. Everything you see advertised is here. The only cons, which are minor in my opinion is you don't get to select the specific cabin you want so you do have the off chance of getting one with a less desirable view. The only options you get when booking is a "Forest View" or a "Mountain View". If you're looking at the map, anything on the Sierra Loop is considered a "mountain view" which you pay premium for, but some towards the entrance actually look out towards people's home. Also, for the thosewho are in need of a vanity and mirror if you're looking to do makeup and hair (I didn't care about any of that while I was here), there are none. So I'd highly recommend not packing all that stuff. You are supposed to be relaxing and enjoying nature after all. We left feeling rested and energized. I cannot wait to book again. I highly recommend this experience.

I recently had a fantastic experience at the Getaway House in Big Bear, and it was a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. There were numerous pros that made this trip enjoyable. First, it's a step up from traditional tent camping as you don't need to bring as many supplies. The cabin comes equipped with a bathroom, running water, electricity, comfortable beds, and a table. Additionally, there's a grill outside that runs on a propane tank, perfect for a barbecue. The presence of a picnic table was also convenient. They even provide a dog leash if you have a furry friend with you. The standout feature of the trip was the huge window that not only allowed an abundance of natural light but also offered shade when needed, thanks to the provided screens. The campground was impressively quiet, and fellow campers respected each other's space with cabins well spaced apart. However, there are a couple of cons to consider. The price per night can be on the higher side, which might not fit everyone's budget. Additionally, you'll need to factor in the time and cost of driving to reach the Getaway House. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience at the Getaway House in Big Bear is a fantastic way to unwind and enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing essential comforts. It's a great option for those seeking a retreat from city life.

We’ve been to getaway big bear twice now and both time our pup enjoyed the cabins so thoroughly. lots of trails for hikers and a panoramic drive nearby for anyone not interested in strenuous activities. Cabins look small but the rooms are plenty sufficient for two adults + a 60lbs ? can’t wait to check it out in the winter!Nearby activities: lots of hiking trailsSafety: you could sometimes see your neighbors but definitely far enough where we felt alone with natureWalkability: very walkable around the campground

I've stayed getaway for 2days last week and had such a high expectation but it's got totally ruined.First of all, they had so many ants in the cabin(found out them on second day night). Even though we throw away most of our foods in the cabin and put the bug spray everywhere but It's never went away. We were requested either changing to other cabin or provide a refund. But they only offered 25 bucks for refund lol. So initially we were supposed to be stayed there for 3 nights, but we had to give up one night bc we couldn't stay any longer, sleep in the bed with ants.Second, frequent power outage. We stayed there only 2 nights and few hours for third day but there's 2 power outage and AC and fridge, etc everything ran by electricity were not working.Third, responsiveness and serviceWe had couple of calls to complain about above issue, but CS person or cabin crew was not responsive at all and wasn't able to provide any helpful solution.Based on all these stressful stay, I don't think I would recommend to stay here because I heard from staff that they had pest control few weeks ago but some of cabin are still affected by it and it's not worthy for the price

I booked a 2 day weeknight stay for my dog and myself and had a great time. The cabin was cozy and well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. They also decorated it with balloons and left a thoughtful card for our birthdays which was so sweet. The large window looking out into nature is even better in person and my dog especially loved laying in the bed and taking it all in. Unfortunately there was a fire ban during our stay so no fire pits were allowed, but I was still able use a portable butane burner for outdoor cooking and enjoyed some great meals at the picnic table. Staying here made me feel like I was in adult summer camp lol each cabin is positioned far enough away to feel like you have your own space, but you'll be able to see the other cabins and guests while walking around the property which was nice and gave a sense of community. The surrounding area was beautiful and my dog and I really enjoyed walking the nature path and taking in the views. We took a morning walk around 5am to enjoy the sunrise and it was one of my favorite moments of my stay.Only downside was the day I was checking out there was an unexpected power outage scheduled from 8:30am - 3pm and got notified of it the day before. A bit of a bummer since checkout wasn't until 11am and AC would've been nice to have that morning since it had been quite hot the last couple of days but Getaway credited guests $25 for the inconvenience.Overall, I would definitely stay here again. As long as you do your research and pack intentionally in terms of food/drink and entertainment, it's a perfect quick getaway especially if you have a dog.

I had been eyeing this place for a while and am so glad that me and my boyfriend pulled the trigger. It was the perfect escape after a day of fishing at big bear lake. The view was breathtaking (Mountain View) . I couldn’t believe how quiet it was. I love that there’s a no outdoor music rule. You could hear the birds chirp and the wildlife around you all day. The most peaceful thing to listen to nature unobstructed. Fire pit was super easy to work. They left a personalized note which was so sweet. Best part? We went on the nature trail they have on premises and saw 2 deers pretty close up for a while! We just stopped and watched them in awe. My boyfriend is kind of hard to impress and he was just in awe the whole trip with me. We did a weekday and would do a weekday if/when we return because a weekend is just too out of our price range. Awesome stay . Highly recommend.

My husband and I came here for a quick getaway for memorial weekend. It was a nice trip away from the city life, the cabin was just the right size for couples and it was really relaxing. From the beautiful sunny mornings and from the lovely cool night amazing. It was so nice being able to grill by the fire place and just be one with nature. It was a very cozy stay and Next time I come up here I'm definitely going to get the Mountain View just to get the full experience of this place. Thank you getaway house for an amazing stay . Will be back soon

This was my first time taking a trip with Getaway house and I absolutely recommend it. I know when I was looking to book I scoured the web looking for good information and helpful reviews of the cabins so I hope this helps! The Pros:I booked my cabin very last minute for a 24 hour trip during Memorial Day weekend and they were able to accommodate. Getaway House offers both early check in and late check out for $25 additional each. This was SO worth the money, I really recommend it. I wish all hotels had these two options. The drive to the campsite from the highway is through the most beautiful windy mountain (drive carefully!) and once you're up the mountain you're only about 10 minutes from the site during which you'll pass plenty of businesses and homes so fear not, you're not totally off grid ha.The view!! I totally lucked out and was given the cabin "Martha." Martha is situated on a small lot with one other cabin and has a beautiful view of the trees when standing in your cabin and when in bed it has a marvelous view of the sweeping canyons and mountains around (best of both worlds!). I had no immediate neighbor for the night so this cabin was incredibly peaceful, I was able to really relax and getaway. They supplied a wonderful goody basket for my dog and a personalized note for me -- very cute. They also provide a great heating and cooling system (seriously that cabin cools down FAST), books to read, games to play, pots, pans, cups, mugs and common kitchen needs like salt, pepper, sugar, creamer, olive oil etc.The hot water in the shower was great in my cabin and my cell reception with verizon was pretty strong! Even though it was nice to avoid social media and texts (as is recommended) it was really comforting to be able to listen to a podcast and watch Netflix in the evening with my hotspot especially when traveling alone.Oh, and the night hours are so quiet because of the strict 10pm sound curfew. That was wonderful.Cons:Communication. I'm not sure what was going on but it seemed as if they avoided responding to any concerns I had along the trip, even to help dispel them. Weird.Booking: You cannot choose your cabin when you book online and attempting to call their phone line was futile, after 3 attempts. I left voicemails however, and maybe they listened because I did in fact get close to what I wanted, so can't really complain!Beware, your neighbors might really make or break this experience for you (being that the cabins are so close together.) I lucked out in my area because my neighbors were amazing, kind, and quiet. There really was no element of "seclusion." I could see 4 other cabins, multiple cars and a road from my cabin window plus anyone on a casual stroll walking by my cabin could make direct eye contact with me if I was sitting on my bed. I didn't necessarily mind, but if you're really wanting to have a trip where you don't see anyone else, I'd keep that in mind. The best cabins for some seclusion are the ones that are on the outer parts of the loop.Price: I wonder if the price has gone up? I've watched reviews of these cabins from only a year ago that quote them at $125/night. They are now around $450. While I still think the stay is absolutely worth it, it would be great, at this price, if they stopped charging for things like firewood, s'mores, coffee, tea, swiss miss etc. Half of these are items that come included at much cheaper hotels around the country. All in all, would I stay here again? 100% I'm already planning my next (much longer) trip and will probably snag one of their "cabin packs" which is a much better deal. This was the most fun solo trip ever, I didn't want to leave at all!
