A wonderful book store. Just want to hang out here all the time. And because I have to write more to post, again just want to hang here all the time.

Beers features both new and used books. I thought their prices on used books were a little high. Better prices than Barnes and Noble but still high for used books. Example, you could see the book's original price of say, $18 and it would be priced at $12. I'm used to the used bookstore from my hometown where the most expensive used book is $5, so that was a little shocking. Atmosphere is a little cold and sterile. No places to sit and peruse books before deciding, they want you to grab books and get out. Lol. Positives are that they did have a HUGE selection and everything was very well organized. Not my favorite used bookstore but worth a visit if you're in the R street area anyway.

Nice little bookstore, good selection but somewhat limited. Love that they mix used books in.

Sacramento would be so depressing without Beers, my favorite used bookstore here. even though the atmosphere may sometimes feel a bit intimidating / cold, i don't care because the staff are true bookworms-- shy, introverted nerds, humbly & gracefully waiting on you, ready when you are. (note: this is a broad generalization, & i mean it to be a compliment, bc i myself am a huge, usually shy, bookfreak.) i've sold books here several times & though they can be quite selective even with bestsellers in excellent condition (imo), they are ultimately more generous than free & i always take store credit over cash bc they always have a book i want. more insight into how kind & generous Beers staff can be-- my husband & i got our engagement photos done at their old location on S St. they were so kind & let us act like fools, free of charge. highliest recommend, 100/100.

I bought a bunch of books from this location. I left them in a bag and opened it after the holidays and discovered they were covered in book lice. When I called the store asking for advice they said to google how to get rid of it and that if I had a receipt I can get a refund. Unfortunately, I live 6.5 hours away and I no longer have the receipt. The bag also contained a bunch of brand new books as well that I purchased while on vacation and I am unable to replace. I could tell the book lice came from the Beers books because the majority of the book lice were inside the Beers books pages and inside the spine. In total 34 books were ruined :(. This location does have a very nice selection and when I bought the books the worker was very nice. Please check your books closely before purchasing from this location.

One weekend day in the Fall, we stopped here at the request of my 21 year old daughter and she picked up a couple books. They have quite a large selection for these days as many of the bookstores, like record stores are shrinking or dying. Nice easy location for parking. Nice place to raise your IQ a bit with some fresh libros.

Got a good haul for less than $100 with stuff for me and my toddler. We'll be back to fill out my fantasy and history shelves. There was also a good selection of golden books to choose from for the little one.

I've always liked their wide selection of genres. For a local business, they have very affordable prices. I also like how they help advertise other local book stores on their social media - not a lot of businesses would do that and it reflects their confidence. Pop in and check them out

New location... good at some categories and weak at others. They need a small coffee shop or similar given the location. Indie bookstore with some f7n gifts

I am in love. If I lived in Sacramento, I'd camp outside of this bookstore until they gave me a job. Lol! They have a lovely selection and some great hidden (or not so hidden) gems. The store I organized in an easy coherent fashion. I found a lovely copy of pride and prentice (folio society edition) for $45 in pristine condition. I am a happy woman. The staff is friendly, the bathrooms are clean, and there's plentiful parking in the area. I am a fan.

New location is really nice. We got a thick book for $10. I miss the cat. I didn't see him there.

Great new location. Same welcoming staff. Spacious among the stacks. Located on R Street, this is a convenient space to find. Parking is easy on the street. Would love it if some space to hang out and read, maybe with simple coffee and iced tea options would great. Good kids books to choice from. Some kid seating would also be great. This book store is a local classic and lived. Go in and check it out. You'll be hard pressed not to find several gems to bring home.
