The Candy Barrel is one of the original candy stores in Old Sacramento, having been in business for over 30 years. Recently, it moved to a new location after 35 years. The store is big and offers a dizzying variety of sweets, providing a walk down memory lane with many nostalgic candies and chocolates that are hard to find elsewhere. This includes old fashioned hard stick candies, rock candies, Necco Wafers, Charleston Chews, Zolts, and a whole wall of anime themed specialty sodas. It is especially known for its huge selection of salt water taffy, with over 70 flavors, including unique options like dill pickle and coconut curry, sold by the pound. There are also over 40 flavors of jelly beans. While there are not tons of chocolate candies, there is enough stuff for pretty much anyone to find something they will like, from gummies to national and international candies. The prices are a bit high, as is common in tourist areas, but it is worth a look. The staff are super helpful, friendly, and offer assistance. For anyone with a sweet tooth or looking for a sweet gift, this is the place.
I love saltwater Taffy, and this was the place to go! They have so many great options! Coconut and black licorice are my favorite, and they both were delicious! Taffy is $10 per pound.

This place used to be my favorite candy store but things have changed so much now that it’s really sad from the over pricing to the stale candy it’s just sad.
