I was referred to Charles Schwab by friends while traveling because they don’t charge foreign transaction fees, which is a big plus if you travel a lot like I do. The only downside is that since it’s a brokerage firm, most things are handled online.
I recently visited this Sacramento branch after having trouble depositing a check through the app. I was very impressed with the service I received. Ed at the front counter greeted me with a warm smile and was super friendly and helpful. The whole process was quick and easy. Highly recommend!

After reading the reviews, I suppose I dodged a bullet. I had planned to switch from Chase/Wells Fargo Bank to Charles Schwab Banking. I recently had the three bureaus frozen, and I ran into issues with Charles Schwab approving a checking account that I thought I already had with them. I encountered problems every time I tried to log in, so I thought I missed something and reapplied.
The funny thing is that a couple of months before that, they sent me an email saying everything was approved, and they were waiting for a PDF signature email from me. Now I'm going to have two hard inquiries from them for nothing. Their customer service is overrated.

Woke up to an "Account restricted and will be closed" email.
I invested over 10K+ to start investing and within 1 month my account was closed. I called and asked for a reason and they said there was none and they didn't have to give one. I had to liquidate everything and move to another firm. Customer service did not care to help at all and just kept saying closing accounts with no reason is something they can do. Be careful, its your money and they can shut you out from your investments. Wish I could give no stars. TERRIBLE

my account has been suspended for no reason, due to suspicious activity after a single initial deposit through zelle from my own external bank, no other activity on this account.all that while i was told i will receive the funds multiple times by various different staff and even the investigator herself, after 3 months of investigation my funds have been transferred, without my knowledge out of my account to a "safe place" they said.4 months later, after calling daily, visiting bank in person, resubmitting my id at the branch 3 times and following all their requests without any resolution i was convinced i will never receive my initial deposit, the bank manager would tell me my bank account is 0 and to leave the bank as there are people in line.after filing report with external government agencies who protect people like me who cannot afford an expensive lawyers, i was able to get my money back and received a check quite swiftly.i was absolutely disguised with this bank and how i was treated, i would not trust them with a glass of water.

I gave a 1 star as I had to choose something. If it were up to me I wouldn't put any stars. I will never ever again have anything affiliated with Charles Schwab. I have been trying to get a direct rollover to IRA since JULY. Paid for overnight shipping and still have yet to receive my check and I was told it was just mailed September 13th and went through normal mail. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. I will be contacting the BBB on you and your affiliate Newport Group.

About 6 years ago Schwab blocked me from accessing my online brokerage account for unspecified reasons. So I opened a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade. But now that Schwab has purchased TD Ameritrade, my TD Ameritrade account will be transferred to Schwab which means I will be blocked once again from online trading. I called Schwab and they said they cannot guarantee I will have online access to my Schwab account once my TD Ameritrade account transfers over despite being a TD Ameritrade client in good standing for 6 years.

Beware. My father was a client for 20 years. It has been more than 18 months since he died and schwab keeps coming up with reasons why they are refusing to distribute funds. Also, they have held his money captive and it has dropped more than 20%.

Carrie was so helpful. I had to go there twice due to a mistake maybe on both my part and the part of a worker from another location. I could have misunderstood and maybe the explanation wasn't the best. Either way Carrie helped me out and got everything fixed. I think it took 3 hours the first day and a week later was super easy. They seemed to be short staffed so make sure you have an appointment. I didn't and the second time I tried to call to make an appointment but no one picked up the phone. So I just went in super early and had no issues. Parking is easy and plenty of them.

Difficult if not impossible to meet with a person unless you are initially opening an account. Also phone calls leisurely returned. You get the impression of the Wizard of oz behind a curtain when you go into their office. Lots of empty cubicles. Have gotten conflicting information. Their online forms come with lots of problems and don't seem to accomplish what they seem to promise. Been trying for 10 days now to get a straight answer. Speaking to someone finally about misinformation, was told...well he's new. Is that an excuse? very disapointed with my experience with them

Used their website to open a new online account. Even stopped by their local office to deposit a check to fund the online account. Then, they blocked access to my online account. That was 5 days ago. I have call every day to resolve the issue. Same run-around every day I call in. My recommendation, choose another online broker. The customer service at Schwab is sub-par.

I live close by and I pass businesses on Fulton Ave on my daily walks. For the past year the leaf blowers employed by Charles Schwab have been harassing me. It upsets them that I do not wave hello when I pass so they began to blow leaves in my direction when they see me coming intentionally, they became disgruntled because I pass daily without saying hello. During the corona-virus is when they choose to do this, when keeping 6 feet distance is making everyone feel safe and healthy. I'm also often on the phone, or listening to music, their behavior is very odd, they are supposed to be working and focused. I began crossing the street so that I could feel safe and pass in peace, and one of the men on several occasions will cross the street to heal his wounded ego, and let me know that he knows that I've crossed the street because of him. This behavior has happened upwards of 10 times this past year and it has got to stop. It happens to me almost any day I pass on this block in the morning at the Charles Schwab. The men are intimidating and larger than me. It feels terrible to have large men who remember me from the last time I passed on this street angry with me and retaliatory at 7 o'clock in the morning. It makes the businesses look insane. The workers from the landscaping companies must be spoken to immediately. I am not required to say "hello". I have a boyfriend who would not like it if I did this, I also have a life and am generally not especially social, and certainly not with the leaf blowers at 7:00 in the morning in front of Charles Schwab. Its such a nice block to walk on, I hope this is taken care of immediately.

I called twice to schedule an appointment. They didn't pick up the phone. I drove to the branch on Fulton with my questions and all they could say is "Check out the website." Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........... I won't be doing any business with them.

I used referral code to get $100 promotion on opening a new high yield checking and a brokerage account.
