Got a haircut and styling, with great quality and value! I feel bad I never asked the hairdresser’s name but I would come back again.

I've been going there for years. It's changed hands but still offers caring talented stylists.

WORST HAIRCUT AND CUSTONER SERVICE! I made appointment for my 2 daughter's and I asked the lady to cut there bangs STRAIGHT ACROSS. Pretty simple right? I even pointed out how short I wanted it under the eye brows. I repeat UNDER THE EYE BROWS. What did she do? Cut there bangs so short ABOVE the eye brows. I got upset and told her that before she cut my girls hair not only did say under the eyebrows I also POINTED underneath the eyebrows. Instead of apologizing she argued with me saying she did nothing wrong. Not only was it too short it was uneven! This is the worst hair salon in greenhaven. I asked her how much for kids haircut and she said 30 dollars for kids haircut! Are you kidding me? 30 dollars for uneven haircut and short bangs that I did not ask for. She cuts hair how she wants not what customers ask then argues about how she did nothing wrong. Come here if you like bad customer service, uneven haircut, and not what u ask for.

Coming from LA, I used to think that I had to go to Koreatown to get a good, Asian-styled/tailored haircut. Then I discovered Amanda and she's the best! She's very knowledgeable about what would look best on you and she seems to be popular with the young & trendy male demographic so definitely book an appointment with her if you need a haircut.

Had an appointment at 4:30pm, but waited until 5:10. They also refused to wash my hair before cutting it, saying if I must wash my hair it will be another 10 bucks. So I paid $10 just get my hair washed perfunctorily and leave. Will never come back to this place. Awful experience.

Near Matsuyama Elementary School, close to Wells Fargo Bank -- walk in and get a trim after banking, or make an appointment for a complete hair makeover (serving men, women, seniors, college and school students & children). Peggy Phang is the new owner, buying the salon and barbershop after May retired. (The salon will still be known as May's Hair Design.) Four other licensed young Asian women can provide all ethnicities any hairstyle service you desire. Quiet & clean. The prices were modestly increased due to rising costs due to complete remodeling, inflation, and in trying to recover after 2 years of closing and reopening from the Governor's orders due to COVID-19. Give them a try. Discover the stylist you've been looking for. They struggle to remain open in order to serve the Pocket and South Sacramento residents and out-of-towners of course! I'm sure you will find this local neighborhood salon your new go-to beauty parlor and barbershop!

I assumed that walk-ins were fine, according to Yelp. I walked in and was told that they're only taking appointments. I then booked an appointment for the next day. Note that there were no other appointments listed at the time. And there appeared to be only 2 hairstylists in the whole store. When I came in for my appointment the following day, there were 4 boys sat in the waiting chairs and one hairstylist working on a customer. The hairstylist seemed more focused on the conversation with the customer and seemed to be on familiar terms because there was a lot of chatter and laughter. I was on time for my appointment but I sat and waited for 20 minutes before I left. I came on my lunch-time and wasted my gas and time. As with other poorly run (Asian) salons, appointments mean nothing. They don't respect your time either.

I got such a cute haircut today! My usual stylist is taking a break so I booked an appointment here based on the positive reviews I saw. My did my hair, and I look adorable. Great price too! I'll be coming back.

Teresa was great and welcoming from the start. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she was able to get very close (my hair was a bit too short for what I wanted initially). I'm very happy with the outcome, and for the price, I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Descendent *average* haircut by Teresa. Call in the morning after reading the reviews. The gal I talked to quoted me $20. I gave the money to Teresa and she told me that I needed to pay $30 because I have long hair. She may have cut off 2 inches at the most. I guess she does not want me as a regular. Most unfortunate.

Amanda is not only a master cutter and colorist but a true artist in the salon. For my initial appointment, she took the time to get to know me and my long lifeless hair. She quickly came up with suggestions and we agreed to take a few inches off, add a few well-placed layers and color my hair a rich and shiny color. My hair feels so healthy, has volume and style that lasts for days. What I love most about Amanda is that she's an educator too. I learn something new from her with each visit. I now know how to properly apply product to my hair, use the flat iron, and how to extend the life of my style for days. Many thanks to Amanda for bringing out the best in my hair and making me feel beautiful! " A client for life. Call for Amanda she is a hidden gem.

So glad to have discovered Amanda at May's Hair Design by searching on Yelp! My 14-year old son needed a quick hair cut to clean his overgrown, messy curly hair because school is finally starting in a couple of weeks! Never been to this salon before - never met Amanda before, just read some reviews here, and decided to give it a try. Since this is our first time there, she gave my son a quick consultation by checking on his head shape, bone structure, hair type, face shape, and asked him what kind of hairstyle he likes. My shy teen replied..."I don't know...." She asked if there's a celebrity that he likes, but my son just didn't have any idea what he wanted with his hair, other than the fact he NEEDED a haircut. Amanda told him not to worry, and looks like she knew what would be a good new haircut for him. Within the next 30 min, he had a nice clean haircut that really suits him and he was happy with his new hairdo. She had great attention to detail and also at the end she gave him some daily styling tips based on his hair type and she demonstrated 3 different ways he could style his hair every morning with a little bit of hair gel. Haircut (no shampoo) was $30 (cash only) for teenagers and I was very pleased to find Amanda because she did such a great job and my son is happy. Looked like there were two men in their 20s who got their haircut done just before our appointment, and there was a gentleman who apparently had an appointment right after my son's. She must be well-known in the community as a great hairstylist! I read some raving comments that Amanda is also great with women's haircut/style so I want her to cut my hair next time! Make sure to call in advance for appointment and bring cash. Enjoy!
