Dr Kamboj is awesome. He's always been very honest and direct which I appreciate. All my pets have always been seen at this location and I have no complaints. We've had two cats that we've had to put down because of medical conditions and the staff has always been extremely supportive and understanding.

This hospital made a very difficult situation as easy as they could have. My elderly dog finally reached her time and needed to be euthanized to put her out of any pain. Yesterday, I was calling many places asking about a walk in/emergency euthanasia procedure. (I've never had to go through this before so I was crying on the phone and trying to ask the right questions) and most of the vets told me that they couldn't get my dog an appointment until over a week later. This wasn't going to work for me. There was an emergency place that would take her, but the cost was so far from the funds I had available. Made me feel like the worst parent in the world. I called South Sac Hospital and they told me that I could come in tomorrow at 9am (I called around 5pm or so and the Dr already left for the day) with an appointment because it would be cheaper than a walk in. I was so grateful that they were open on Christmas eve and that they were willing to take me in so soon. I asked for prices and the receptionist was so kind talking to me about how much everything would be. It was very reasonable about $240 which included the exam, euthanasia, and communal cremation. I came in today with my mom and my sweet Lilly absolutely a wreck and ugly crying all over the place. Everyone was so kind and really made me feel like this was the place that my sweet Lilly could be laid to rest at. While the nurse was getting Lilly ready, she came back with 2 small vials of Lilly's hair for my mom and I. We completely lost it because it was just so so so kind and unexpected. It fits perfectly in your hand and the best keepsake. When the time came they let us spend as much time as we needed before and after the procedure. After the Dr and nurse left we spent a bit of time mourning in the room. Afterwards, the receptionist were still very caring even though I had to run out to my car bawling my eyes out. I'm so appreciative and sorry for the long review. Everything just happened today. Thank you guys so very much. I still have the sweet vial of hair in my hand now.

So far our experience has been very expensive. Our veterarian recently retired and sent our dogs medical record to this place. Having a lot of confidence in our past vet. we took our dog to this place. Took her in for her yearly physical and shots. First thing we did not like is we waited over half an hour just to get into the examination room. Another wait for the doctor. He seemed very nice. Second thing we did not like was they took our dog out of the room to give the shots. The third thing was price shock. It was over $300 for what we used to pay $150 max for. Had an appointment for a shot that was required by our kennel. Arrived on time and was told we had to wait until they got back from lunch. Waited again. The price for the first shot $89.30 !!! Have to take her back for a fallow up which will cost $30. Like the other reviews stated this place is all about $$$

South Sacramento Pet Hospital is a great place and the doctor and his staff appear to be compassionate to your pet's needs. When I brought in my 1/2 Australian Terrier - 1/2 Yorkshire Terrier, I was not too coherent, because I had little sleep (worrying about my dog), because he had purple diarrhea and vomiting white fluid. As the staff person was explaining things to me, I thought they would give my dog (named Story) blood work first to determine what was ailing him. But, what happened is that they gave him the blood work, which determined he had pancreatitis and then later they gave him an X-ray exam. Perhaps they explained this to me, but I was not focused. My bill came out to $975.49. What I wish they had done, like my previous veterinarian, is tell me that the blood work is done and do I want to take it further with the X-rays. $975.49 is very, very pricey and I have a limited budget. I did not know that they would automatically jump from blood work to x-rays, I thought they would do the blood work, then inform me about it and then ask me if I want to continue with the x-rays and I would have told them NO. They need to change their method of procedures.

I would like to thank Dr. Kamboj for helping me out bout 3 years ago. I'm kind of late on this but I'm not much of a reviewer on yelp. My Dino(in pictures) caught pravo, at the time I was only a college student barely making by, and he helped made me a deal that I was able to afford to give my dog the medication. After my dog got better, unfortunately his intensities got knotted together because he was barely able to eat during his time in sickness. He was up and lively for 2 days the. His stomach started to expand. I took him in and the doctor says this is the second case he seen in all his years that this happened to a small dogs. It's uncommon to happen to this breed of dogs and especially small dogs. Unfortunately my dog didn't make the night, the doctor called me first thing in the morning regarding the xrays and bloodwork. But I inform him about my dog's passing, and he offered to dispose of the body for me free of charge ! A doctor that really cares for the animals and people !!

When I first walked in, I truly believed I finally found the right vet hospital for my little girl, but unfortunately I will not return. I will say the staff and Dr. Kamboj were very friendly, but I did notice they seemed a little nervous to touch or look at my 4 lbs chihuahua. Since I work at an animal clinic I can understand why they are cautious because small dogs are usually snappy compared to their bigger friends, but she showed no signs of aggression and it worried me how they were going to treat her when I was no longer present. But back to the story, my little girl has been sneezing for awhile and I wanted a rhinoscopy done (scope in her nose) to see what the cause could be. So I made an appointment for the rhinoscopy and dropped her off. This is where my 1 star comes in. After the procedure, Dr.Kamboj explained they didn't have to right size scope to fit in her nasal passage so they weren't able to perform an accurate service. I didn't understand why they would try to shove a large scope in a small dog's nose that could potentially cause harm and then charge me for a service that wasn't complete. RED FLAG! Then he informs me, the hospital will purchase a smaller scope for future occassions and if she continues to sneeze, to bring her back so they can do a proper rhinoscopy and I would not be charged for it since I paid so much. As weeks passed, I received no follow up call to check on my dog's health status and she continued to sneeze. I gave them a call to give them an update on her sneezing and requested another rhinoscopy when their new scope arrives. I was put on hold and later told the machine is broken so they did not order the smaller size scope. Months later, I found out they wrote in her medical records that they were unable to get the scope because they are no longer making the part for that machine. Two different stories. ANOTHER RED FLAG!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I was so upset I put my baby through all of this for nothing. So I found another vet hospital that specializes and performs emergency care. They listened to my needs and did everything possible. They performed the rhinoscopy I initially asked for and found two foxtails in her nasal passages. These findings is what forced me to write this review on South Sac Pet Hospital because the veterinarian that performed the procedure told me he couldn't believe the previous vet (Dr. Kamboj) did not see these foxtails since they were located near the tip of her nose. FINAL RED FLAG!!! It made me question if they even tried to look in her nose in the first place. Please be cautious of this hospital if you decide to take your fur baby there. Just be observant and ask alot of questions before finalizing on any kind of service.

This place has really gone down hill. I've been going there for over 30 years, and each year it gets worse and worse. Even if there's no one in the waiting room, you're going to wait at least a minimum of 20 minutes over your appointment time. And it'll be longer than that if any emergencies come in while you're waiting. It's overpriced and I finally had enough I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I have taken both my rotts here and my rotts are 14 years old and 6 months, they take great care of my babies, I couldn't ask for better! Staff and the doctors are wonderful! I have no idea why people are complaining about this hospital? The only people I've seen complain while I've been there are those who don't want to pay to get their fur babies to get vaccinated! Boy do they come up with excuses lol I heard one lady say her other dr never charged her for services before so why should she have to pay them! While another said she's never gotten any of her animals shots so she's not paying! People bringing their animals in after they neglect their health and then get mad cause its going to cost to try and save them after the fact? Really people?? If you can't afford to get your fur babies vaccinated, don't get them! Its the law for a reason!

I really wanted to like this place because my current vet just joined the group. However, they are all about the money. My dog had a loose tooth and I took her for her first visit at this office, with a vet I didn't know. The vet said that my dog couldn't just get a tooth pulled but instead would need an entire teeth cleaning procedure. That sounded fair to me. I could understand the need for a dental cleaning. Then, the vet said before getting the dental cleaning, my dog would first need blood work to make sure there were no hidden problems, an EKG to make sure my dog's heart was fine for the procedure, and an x-ray to make sure there was nothing wrong with the jaw bone. All of this was necessary to get a very loose tooth pulled? The estimated cost was well over $1,000. Plus, they were going to charge extra for the loose tooth to be extracted during the procedure. I said no thank you. I was able to get the dental cleaning procedure (and tooth pulled) elsewhere for $350. It was also kind of strange because even though we paid for an office visit that day, the vet refused to touch my dog. It seemed like the vet was afraid of dogs. Maybe he had been bitten in the past. However, my little dog has never bit anyone or even growled at the vet. So that was strange. I actually had to lift my dogs ears so the vet could see inside and raise my dogs lips so the vet could see her gums. He never felt her belly like a vet usually does in a dog exam. Please be very careful going to this clinic. For a vet to be so interested in testing everything before a dental cleaning and yet not even touch the dog during a physical, tells me something just isn't right. Best of luck!

STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Major turn offs (key points) during my visit: - front desk employee, maria; horrible service. extremely rude and has a horrendous attitude. - Veterinarian Dr. Imani; did not thoroughly examine my 2 1/2 month old puppy. Careless towards any and all concerns. Will not directly answer your questions. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING ANY OF YOUR PETS HERE FOR ANY REASON. If you truly love your pet, this is somewhere you MUST AVOID at all costs. (If anything, try BANFIELD PET HOSPITAL) - It was my first time taking my puppy to get his first exam and checkup. We originally decided to go with the puppy package. The first visit of the package included an exam, flea sample, & de worming. Our appointment was at 4:00 pm. We weren't called back into the office until 4:40pm and that's after they called the people who came in after us to come in before us. The nurse who we initially met as we first entered the office was UNWELCOMING and RUDE. she treated us as if we were clueless. Then Dr. Imani comes in. He comes in and examined my puppy's teeth and ears. That's all. When we asked what food he recommended, his response was "I don't know" since one brand may not be better than the other. His following example to that was, " If I go somewhere and ask ummm if chinese food or japanese food is better, there is no answer." Please let me remind you that my family is a chinese/vietnamese family. So we were quite shocked. He then went over the puppy package telling us that the price was wrong and he will go check it and come back. That was the last we saw of him. After my puppy was taken to the back to get his microchip, we paid and were sent off on our way. ONLY TO OUR DISCOVERY THAT THEY HAD CHARGED US FULL PRICE FOR THE FIRST VISIT AND HAD NOT GIVEN US EVERYTHING INCLUDED WITHIN THE FIRST VISIT. we initially were supposed to receive a flea medicine sample but were not given it. When I called and spoke to Maria, she was extremely rude and had a ginormous attitude. Her response to why we didn't receive something we paid for was because "they didn't want to wait" for my puppy. I was extremely shocked. Maria continued to argue with me about the flea medicine until finally telling me to come back and pick it up. Will not be returning at any cost.

I had the worst service at this vet. I felt as if they were trying to up sell me everything and turning around my words and talking in circles. It was like pulling teeth to send my dogs prescription to cosco, and then they only did it for 6 months and I have to go through this again to get the rest of the prescription. So disappointed and frustrated and will not be going back to this again

As a first time pet owner and customer, I had no idea what to initially expect first coming here to get an exam and multiple vaccinations. First, my appt. was set at 4 PM and we were brought in at 4:40, after customers that arrived after us were taken in before us. I was immediately unwelcomed with their poor customer service, specifically from front desk representative, Maria. Aside from that, when we were finally consulted, Dr. Naser Imani did a poor job of thoroughly examining my pup and left after giving very little information that did not answer any of our questions nor assist our needs. The most upsetting thing was finding out we were charged FULL PRICE but were purposely not given the Heartworm/Flea prevention sample due to "not having enough wait time." It was frustrating to know that my puppy was not given first priority after we put in careful consideration into selecting this place. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CHOOSING THIS VETERINARY HOSPITAL.

Overall a terrible experience I have never left a vet filled with so much disrespect and anger. If you are not an adult (cis)man and want to be treated with respect as well as have your pet to be actually examined with kindness and concern this is NOT the place for you. (Explained further below) I recently got a puppy about three months ago who is just now five months old. She had a couple episodes of vomit so I decided to take her to the vet. Since she is new to my family and still young she hasn't had any official vet check ups or visits other than for her vaccines so we were really looking for a good reliable vet to check on her today as well as in the future when needed. I had high hopes for this place due to so many great reviews but after my visit I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they are an older adult male or know of a specific vet they want to see. Upon arrival I was greeted with nothing less than kindness and respect by the woman at the front desk and was checked in and sent to wait until a doctor could see us. We were taken back to a vet room for my puppy Honey to get her weight and temperature checked before the doctor came in. The vet assistant who took her information was also very kind and respectful. We were then told to wait until the vet could come in so we did very patiently for about twenty minutes. Then finally the vet came in and the first thing he did was start attacking me with questions. I understand is important to ask questions to understand the situation but where the problem started to occur is the level of respect I was given from this doctor. I am a trans male but am often perceived as female which I presume was the situation here. I was standing at the table directly in front of the vet with my puppy on the table while he interrogated me with questions. My father came with me for emotional support as this was the first time i had taken a pet to the vet and was sitting behind me in the chairs provided. Upon every question the vet asked I would go to answer and he would interrupt me and move his body and head around me to look at my father to get an answer from him instead. He interrupted every sentence that came out of my mouth. When asking questions about the parvo vaccinations of my puppy he was very accusingly asking in an almost attack and before finishing my answer interrupted with more accusing toned questions. When I adopted honey it was a requirement that i follow up with visits until she had received all her vaccines for parvo as well as kennel cough and bordetella but not until then was i even allowed to officially adopt her. This vet questioned her shots as well as the age at which she was given them even though thats what I was specifically told to do by the shelter and vet i adopted her from. On top of all the disrespect I received this vet didn't even acknowledge my puppy or say hello until his half-assed examination where he less than gently poked and prodded my five month old puppy. Then the vet tried to put together a treatment plan of over $700 for things that my puppy clearly didn't need because the minute we got home she was running and playing and had a healthy p*** and ate a bunch of food showing she is probably feeling just fine. The vet didn't even introduce himself until half way through the exam and his name was not given to us on the treatment plan he put together. Not only was I disrespected and not treated like a person, but this vet didn't seem to care about my puppy other than to see what kinds of things he could charge for. If you want a good vet who will be respectful to you and kind to your pet I highly recommend you go somewhere else.
