Going to Stanford settlement neighborhood Center allows me to socialize with some great people and eat a small breakfast and lunch if I choose to. The staff is wonderful very caring and helpful. This gives Cooper my dogs and myself a break from one another.

Just moving into the area from Atlanta. This was my first day attending. Seems like a good place to start being active in the community.

This place is listed on myturn.ca.gov as a place where you can get tested and vaccinated for COVID. I needed my booster shot. Stanford Settlement was the closest one with the earliest appointment so I scheduled my appointment for 1/6/2022 at 11:30am. The hours listed was 9am-1pm. I get there about 11:20am and see a long line out the door, about 20-25 people in front of me. I ask where the line is for people with appointments and the people in line says there is no separate lines for walk-ins and appointments. Ok. I walk to the back of the line. The line does not move for at least 30 minutes, it's freezing out. Around this time, a lady comes by and goes down the line apologizing for the wait and telling us that they'll plan next Thursday better. Even though they "closed" at 1pm she assured us that they will ensure that anyone currently in line will get their shots. 1/6/2022 must have been their first time giving out vaccines? I finally receive my shot around 2pm. Even though I had an appointment and gave a bunch of info for the appointment on MyTurn, everyone was still required to fill out a form with the same info. Also, your barcode from MyTurn with your info is useless. They had nothing to read the barcodes. Everyone filled out forms and surrendered their IDs at check-in. You get your ID back after your shot. Was not planning on having to wait 2.5 hours when I had an appointment. I appreciated that the lady came out that one time at the beginning of our wait but seriously, no one in line anticipated waiting that long. That was my lunch break, I was starving and very thirsty. Just saying if your going to make people wait who were definitely not planning on waiting that long, some water would be appreciated. I would have brought my own if I knew it was going to be that long of a wait. It was so disorganized at every point of the process. The check-in desk is right at the door so the line for waiting is outside, it was a cold day-50 degrees. Around 2pm right before I got my shot they must have closed the testing site in the next room because another nurse came to help administer the shots. That means from 9am to 2pm there was literally 1 person giving out vaccines. So the layout was 1 person at the front registering people. 1 person preparing the needles, 1 person administering shots (2 people starting around 2pm) and 1 person letting you know when you can leave after your 15 minutes. As I was waiting the 15 minutes after my shot I noticed that the person preparing the needles was on her phone while the two nurses (and two patients) were waiting for their needles. OMG, I can't even.

We were in and out within a few minutes and all the staff were friendly and informative. They have vaccines and walk in testing. I got to perform the test on my child so he wasn't as afraid.

SS is doing amazing work in an impossible situation. All the programs serving the older population , the teens who rely on the counselors and community to help shape their lives and the kids in the summer n after school programs were suddenly cut off last March..it was a tremendous blow to these programs that an entire community relied on..however Julie Rhoten, the director, Meg, her 2nd in command and her small but mighty band pivoted, fast and creatively to keep serving all these vulnerable groups on a DAILY basis by going TO them...and raising money to keep all these crucial parts moving...its been a lesson in perseverance, creativity and serious, daily, exhausting commitment...theres a reason they've been around for many decades...they do the work every single day..thank you????

Staff is friendly and helpful and they care. I volunteered with my Rotary Club to help transfer and distribute food for families in need. Donations are welcome, they are assisting our neighbors.
