Great local friendly medical supply shop. Has hard-to-find orthopedic items and a huge selection of medically oriented merchandise. Prices are a bit high, but the orthopedic items they offer are not available anywhere else nearby. Because their building owner wanted to do something different with the property, a couple of years ago they moved from their downtown San Anselmo location to a convenient location with ample parking - at the Montecito Shopping center in San Rafael. Their address is 359 3rd St. Their phone number is: (415) 454-1451. They are located down the central walkway mall (not the very front of the building) - a few doors on the right. Tom is the store manager and is the kindest, most compassionate person ever. He will go the extra mile to help you obtain whatever medical supply or brace or other medical item you might need. Jack's Medical Supplies can provide the orthopedic and general medical supplies that you will not be able to get at the chain drugstores in town. Highly recommend. I advise you do check the Internet for their current days and hours.

Giving 5 stars to Jack's Medical and pharmaceutical supplies located in San Rafael. Tom, the manager at Jacks's Medical has helped and supported my husband and me in the kindest, most patient and knowledgeable ways as we have been attempting to find the best walker for me. He is also a master without my even asking, at adjusting my current walker to perform more safely. When my husband and I have been in Jack's in the Montecito Shopping Mall, I have been able to listen to and view Tom's beyond helpful responses to the many folks who have needed his assistance. They walk in with this post-surgery, or that ongoing medical concern, which needs Tom's wisdom and care, or even just a relatively small pharmaceutical. Jacks' Medical is a gift to our community in Marin.

This place is all around fairly nice. I would recommend this business for hard to find medical products. They carry some of the more obscure products. Although you will have to pay the price, so to speak. This place is not cheap by any means. So expect to pay a little more than you’re use to. However, their selection makes up for it. Also the staff is friendly and if you ask around, you’ll find a staff member that it knowledgeable in the area you’re inquiring. I would recommend this place, especially if you’re not worried about moo-lah.

Absolutely, positively the most helpful people ever. Was looking for a feather weight wheelchair and they sure do know their stuff, because there is a lot to know about featherweight wheelchairs and their different price points and features. Business is done like it used to be with personalized touch and service -- and it really doesn't get much better than this, so they're my go to folks for all things medical for my 92 year old queen (mama) and other family members in need. Thank you!!

Good supply, excellent customer service. They treated my dad kindly and respectfully and were generous with their time.

A first time visit (and last). I'm a teacher and had to find a substitute to get to their establishment on time. I went there to get a compression sleeve due to being diagnosed two days earlier for Lymphedema, due to cancer lymph node removal. It's a life altering disease, that there is no cure for. You can imagine how bummed out I was. I was looking forward to some guidance and compassion. Instead , I was greeted by an unknowledgeable, uncaring, unprofessional store owner, that showed no sign of empathy. This establishment was round down, empty, and absolutely filthy. I actually thought my very reputable PT gave me the wrong address. Unfortunately, that was not the case. This is the only YELP I have ever written, which shows you how terrible this experience was for me. I actually left in tears.

I had a traumatic brain injury, and very specific needs to go with my old house in Fairfax. They had me fixed up and out of there in a half hour after several tryouts.Clearly, people who know what's going on. Expertise is hard to purchase these days

This is a little late, but I am so happy Jacks is still around. They are friendly, get the job done and I don't have to wait in line as compared to the CVS in Greenbrae where the line is 2 aisles long! They deliver too!

So sorry to hear CVS happening there. Over the years Jacks became the last “real neighborhood drugstore”. They would help you find obscure health items and would get them in. Stocked so much medical devices and equipment. As an RN I relied on this place for over 20 years for needs of a wide population and cut my pharmacy teeth with a previous owner, Toni. Most helpful pharmacy ever!!!

Giving Jacks 2 stars ONLY because I use them for the majority of my clients needs and they are the only game in town, however, I will never do personal business with them again. My co-worker offered to help me out when I was dealing with the death of my father and medical issues with my grandmother. She went to Jacks on my behalf and purchased so plastic be protectors for a twin bed. It seems like a simp,e item but cost over $50! I paid my co-worker back on the spot and thanked her. After ten days, we found that hospice delivered the same sheets free of charge to care for grandmother. I was thrilled with the news and promptly attempted to return the sheets WITH my original receipt and WITHIN the time frame allotted. The man behind the counter was rude and aggressive telling me that Jacks would only return the money if the original card was present. I explained the situation and was declined any accommodation. In fact, he told me to call up the cardholder and get her down there that day because the 2 week refund timeframe was up! It was a Saturday, I was not about to put out a helpful co-worker outside of office hours. I asked if the refund time frame could be extended a few days, he said "no", I asked if there was another option, he explained he could give me a store credit BUT only in the name of my co-worker, not me. Well that was just silly.....I told him my father had just passed away and I was doing my best to try and make things work and his only reply was "guess you just bought yourself new sheets"! What? I will never again go back to Jacks and think twice before I use then for one of my 150+ clients.......I am sure we can do better elsewhere......bye Jacks.

My 12 month old child has severely low iron (5.3 of 11, under 5 requires a transfusion). Pediatrician sent in a prescription for liquid iron, which is considered a nutritional supplement and not a medicine, so is not covered. When I called in to see if the prescription was ready, the pharmacist (Reddy), told me it would cost $30, which however ashamed I am to admit, is 75% of the money I have until we get paid in 10 days. I asked him if it was the same dose as the over the counter liquid iron that is available for much cheaper, and he refused to answer. I explained that with 2 small children it is challenging to make an extra trip in to compare medicines, and asked again if he could check (or have someone check) to see if the OTC option was the same dose. Again he refused. I came in within 30 minutes, with both kids, and located the OTC option. Reddy initially refused to let me see the prescription package, first saying it wasn't ready (despite having confirmed that it was less than half an hour before), then telling the cashier that "he had to think about it". Verbatim. He then stood there, hand to chin, staring at his computer screen for a solid 5 minutes while my baby started to cry & my toddler got antsier & antsier. He finally handed the box over to the cashier & it was literally the exact same package/drug. It was so clear that his reluctance was because he had walked out and grabbed that box from the exact same shelf as the OTC option, so he KNEW it was the same dose, the same drug, the same directions. For $14 cheaper. Laugh all you want, that's gas in my car or groceries for my kid. When I looked him in the eye and told him that it was unethical to withhold information on an infants' medication, to create a barrier to accessing that medicine, and basically insist that I buy the box from him vs the OTC option, knowing one was more costly than the other despite being the exact same item, he spewed lame excuses and kept repeating that he was "too busy to deal with this". Despite knowing how VITAL this item is to the life of an infant, he kept saying he was too busy. With 2 other pharmacists and ONE other waiting customer, Reddy was too rude, too busy, and too incompetent to give a damn about the wellbeing of an infant. No supervisor or boss available, either. Nice job Jack's, supposed to be the feel-good local pharmacy? B********

Stonewalled In January, Jack's changed its billing system and with it account numbers. My January ending balance in my old account was different than the February opening balance in my new account. I wrote and called them numerous times trying to get an explanation for the difference. It is now the end of August and I am giving up and have paid them the full balance. They have not been responsive and have stonewalled me throughout. Add my voice to the number of people who have called them out on Yelp for terrible service.

Jack's is the ONLY medical supply store in Marin, however, the owner who works the counter can be condescending and rude. When asked if he could get more of a certain supply he answers, "I don't know". And not politely, either. When I asked oh he could check and let me know he didn't respond!!! I had to continue to ask about it until I could get a reasonable and sensible answer. If he is tired of working he should sit in the back room and order supplies.
