this lady is very interesting... i called on a thursday afternoon to ask if she did kids haircut and if so how much. she asked how old my kids were and i said 5 and 6. she said she does and cost would be $25/child. when we arrived, she saw that i had a girl and a boy. and said that the girl would be $35. im irked at this point, but i needed to get their hair cut since we were going out of town the next day, so i agreed. she cut my daughter's (5) hair first and that was fine. it was a simple cut, just taking some length off. no layers, nothing. during this time we were making small talks and asked what school my kids went to, blah, blah, blah. then she went on to my son. i was distracted when she was done and just wanted to get out of there, forgetting to look at his hair. we leave and when we were about a block or so away, i looked at my sons hair and this was a hot mess. so i immediately called her and asked if she could fix it. she said, "your son moved around too much" and wouldn't agree to fix it right away. eventually i got her to agree to fix it. so we went back and to make sure she didn't have the excuse of him moving too much, i held his hair as she continued with the clippers. she then mentions that usually for his kind of haircut its $35. at this point i'm appalled since the most i've ever paid for his haircut was $25. she then continues to tell me, i should know that $35 is the going rate as i live in burlingame! first of all, I wish i lived in burligame! just bcuz my son goes to school in burligame it doesn't mean you get to charge me "burligame rate" whatever that is in her mind. long story short, if you're ok with bait and switch scam for a below mediocre cut, then go ahead. but if you want honest, upfront, no shade service, you're better off looking elsewhere.

I had to give a review. I am so happy I stumbled upon this Yelp page and found Julie, who was absolutely wonderful and so sweet! I made an appointment for a haircut, and I showed her how I had wanted mine to look (a french bob). Julie was very attentive and as others have mentioned, she knows Asian hair very well, and based on the photo she cut my hair and gave it LIFE. Like, my hair is typically limp and dull and she gave me that volume and fullness that I needed - this was before she even styled it! She even taught me how to style it to give it volume because we were just talking about my struggle, ha. I loved the shampoo and style, in addition to the cut. Julie fixed a haircut that I got last month that just wasn't doing it for me. I'm so happy I found her, and I'll definitely be back!

Used to get Korean style haircuts in LA. She knows how to do those cuts, and I thought she was nice.

Worst hair cut I’ve ever got. And the owner was rude. Don’t go you’ll regret.

This is the only place that I found in the Peninsula who can handle Asian hair really well. My family has been going to Allure for a few years now, and Julie who is the owner and stylist is very talented. Even though it says she takes walk-ins, there were a few times when the salon was closed or she left early, so make sure you call in advance to make an appointment. Men's haircut is now $35 before tip.

The owner, Julie, is extremely rude and unprofessional. I don't recommend this place for anyone.

The owner, Julie, is extremely rude and unprofessional. I don't recommend this place for anyone. First, when I came in for a bang cut, she first told me that it was $25. When I referred to the sign which said it was $15 and up, she said that she could do it at $20 instead. Seriously? I have never had any hair salon (even super boutique ones) which charges $20 just for a bang cut. Second, I had already made an appointment with her. When I came in, there were other family customers. Suddenly all the family members wanted a hair cut each, so she told me that I would have to wait longer. After some time she told me again that she couldn't do it today and I had to come back. What? There is a reason you make an appointment. If she cancels guest appointments on her own, what's the point of making a reservation? The worse is her attitude. When I was explaining that I had a reservation and it didn't make sense just to wait until everyone was done, she rudely yelled at me saying "I'm working." In the end I wasted a lot of time driving back and forth to be treated horribly.

Stylist: Julie My hair type: Asian hair. Damaged, thrice-permed, and dyed with split ends. Bias: I drove here from Portland to see family for the holidays. And since I'm in SF, I might as well get my hair fixed back to a healthy and professional look before I return to work. I was also aiming for an authentic East Asian style after living in that region for years. Service: Shampoo, cut, blow dry, quick curl with straightener and hair oil. Julie and I bonded over learning languages and our passion for traveling to Asian countries. She kept checking in on what I wanted and consulted me on managing my hair type. Julie transformed my hair into shiny locks of luster. Mission accomplished. Timing: It was Dec 30th and at 4pm I called for an appointment for 5:15pm. I arrived and we started right away. We finished at 6pm. Price before tips: $55. But haircut for women can be as low as $45 at this salon, depending on the cut.

The best salon on the Peninsula. Joohee has cut my hair for years and I've always been happy. Great salon, plenty of parking, always professional, and a great experience. She's fantastic.
