I wish I had read the reviews prior to coming here -- I deeply regret taking my dog for a haircut with Israel at the salon. I knew my dog was starting to get tangled because he had to miss a trim as a result of a difficult recovery after mass removal surgery. I knew going in that he would likely need to be shaved since a lot of groomers don't want to bother with spending additional time brushing out. Unfortunately, my cocker spaniel was completely shaved excessively short that he ended up looking like a beagle afterward. The ears should've been kept long -- they weren't even tangled at all as I comb them often. There is no reason a cocker spaniel should ever look like that even if the rest of the body is short. It wasn't even well done, and my dog was left bald with grinch toes, thick old man eyebrows, and a choppy uneven face. I took him home and finished the groom myself to make it more even and not like he just had the worst haircut of his life. He also left with cuts on his ears and a massive gash on his chest got infected and required veterinary attention. I typically don't like to make a fuss over things like this, but I just wanted to share my experience if it meant I can save someone else from going through this as well.

I have been buying all my pet food and pet supplies at this location for probably 10 years. Less than 2 weeks ago, I bought a bag of authority "all stages" cat food, and when I gave this food to my cat, she threw up three days in a row, I stopped giving the food to her and gave her the regular gut health by authority and she is fine. I went to return the bag of food that I bought 10 days earlier and they refused to take it back. I also, had in my cart - food, treats, toys, etc. to buy. I am furious and ended up walking out of the store. Left the bag of bad cat food and will not be buying anything from this location and company again. Terrible, terrible customer service practices. They just lost a big customer.

This review is for the Mountain View location, specifically the "manager" who is extremely bad at her job. Everyone else has been professional, never a problem with the workers, the groomers, or with boarding. We have four animals and shop there regularly for food and pet supplies. One of our dogs eats a special food prescribed by the vet which is actually just Hill's Science which is a brand sold there. There is nothing special about it other than being a satiety food so that our dog can lose weight. There is no medicine, no magic ingredient, no explosive or volatile component, no way to go "Breaking Bad" with it, and certainly nothing to put the safety of anyone in the immediate area of it in danger. However, the "manager" (who responded as though she were still in middle school) refused to sell it to us because we forgot the "prescription" card. It's dog food. What nefarious plot did this idiot think it would be used for?? We just wanted to feed our dog. There has never been a problem with this before, we are in their system and buy this dog food both with and without a prescription card all the time. But simply because she was having a bad day, on a power trip, or because acting this way just makes her feel good, she refused to sell it to us. The utter incompetence, unprofessionalism, and complete lack of customer service skills was astounding. She needs training. Absolutely ridiculous that this person is a manager. Guess we are now going to be going to another pet store for any supplies that we need. PetSmart needs to do better.

I have been a loyal customer of Petsmart in San Carlos for over two years, primarily for dog grooming and supplies. However, my experience has been far from satisfactory. The quality of service, customer care, and professionalism from the groomers have been inconsistent at best. During my last visit, I encountered an incident that left me deeply dissatisfied and irritated. A groomer attempted to publicly shame me because my dog urinated in the office, supposedly ruining the bandanas given upon completion of services. Not only was this unprofessional behavior embarrassing, but I was also unsure of how I was expected to rectify the situation. After all, accidents happen, and I can't control my dog's actions beyond my care. The implication of unconscious bias, particularly considering myself and my dog are Black, cannot be overlooked. It's disheartening to feel judged in such a manner, especially in an establishment where professionalism should reign supreme. The fact that there's even a notion of "Black Dog Syndrome" exacerbates my frustration. It's a known phenomenon where black dogs, and often their owners, face discrimination in various contexts, including grooming services. Furthermore, I must express my dissatisfaction with the actual grooming services provided for my dog. It's been consistently subpar, often requiring me to quality assure the work done. The only factor that kept me returning was the convenience of the location. However, given the recent events and the overall lack of professionalism and respect, convenience is no longer a sufficient reason to continue supporting this establishment. In light of these experiences, I echo the sentiment of the overall 2-star rating and have decided to no longer patronize Petsmart. Future visitors deserve to be aware of the lack of professionalism and potential biases, including racism and Black Dog Syndrome, present in this establishment. If I could zero stars I would, Trust and believe. Good riddance!

I go to this PetSmart every two weeks and it's always clean and the service is quick (also love to check out those lovely cats!). I have two things I think could be better. First, it would be good to have more kinds of senior cat food, like canned food and squeeze-up treats. Our cat is 17 years old and it's hard to find food for him in the store, even though it's on the website. Second, sometimes when I ask to pay the same price as on your website (because it's cheaper), the female person at the checkout isn't very patient. Fixing these things would make shopping here even better.

Miso had his first grooming appt with Weyla. My pup is a rescue mutt so I wasn't sure what type of instructions I should give for his first hair cut. Weyla has an artist eye and gave me her suggestions and they were exactly what I had in mind. Miso can get nippy when nervous. She told me she just took a break and calmly explained to him she was trying to help. That's the type of patience I want in my groomer. Omg he went in looking like he was living in the jungle his whole life and came out a new dog. Thank you Weyla!!!

A huge, but despite its size, a convenient store where you can buy almost everything you might need for your pets. Shelter animals are also welcome here.

Today, I went to the Petsmart dog camp to try their playtime and camp time. I left my dog in the half-day camp, and when I got my dog back at 1:00, I was told that my dog was inside the cage the whole time because they didn't have time to set up the camp. The whole point of leaving her there is so she can have some fun and interact with other dogs. I spent the whole day just around the area to wait for her to have a good time. When I got my dog, my dog was thirsty; she needed to go pee and poop, and she did nothing but stay in the cage the entire time. If you're going to bring your dog to this location, you have to be aware that your dog might not do any exercise as advertised; it was very disappointing. The problem is, that what was supposed to be a fun day with playtime, was otherwise a very traumatizing experience for her. She already associates Petsmart with going to the veterinarian, so it will be tough for her to return there and have a good time. I was hoping that this place would be a good place for my dog, but I spent money just to have my dog locked down in a cage for 4 hours. I got my money refunded, but the whole point was that we wanted our dog to try something new, and our first time was extremely disappointed.

HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT BOOK WITH ISRAEL @ SALON! I dropped my dog off for a bath & brush.. 5 minutes later I get a call informing me that he took a dump & urinated so they can't wash him because those are "signs of stress". To my knowledge signs of stress consist of DIARRHEA (NOT 1 solid BM!), vomiting, EXCESSIVE urination & nervous licking. I'VE WORKED AS A GROOMER FOR PERT SMAT BEFORE, I KNOW THE PROTOCOLS. My dog had NONE of those signs! And on top of that he was returned WET!!! Extremely unprofessional.

Great selection of items. Only thing is, they don’t let you return opened treats. Kinda sucks when you have a picky pet
