“I picked up freshly cooked whole turkeys for our work potluck here. First impressions: plenty of parking in their dedicated parking lot, inviting market with lots of specialty products, and helpful, efficient staff. An employee helped me and the turkeys to my car. The turkeys, while on the pricier side, were the best I have ever tasted. Both the white and dark meat were tender and flavorful. Funny story: we forgot to bring a carving set to our potluck. These turkeys were so tender we literally cut all three with a plastic butter knife. Incredible! I look forward to returning and exploring more of their offerings.”

“Oakwood Market has been a staple in East Palo Alto. The owners are very customer friendly and know their customers and community. They have variety of produce and proteins. The chorizo, breakfast sausage, party wings are a must get. Again they have a variety of things so go ahead and give them a try. Weather you're in Palo Alto , it's literally right over the bridge. They have a huge parking lot out side so you don't have to worry about that. Thanks again to the Oakwood family for taking care of the community and people. Much love.”

“Looks nice! The owner offered help when I need, but there was a lot of food I'd never seen, so I thought I need to more learn those for my next visit. Some reviewers here said that they didn't show a food price, but I can now find the cost with food.”

“Fresh sushi made on site. The Maya in the butcher case looked amazing. Awesome drink selections on the back wall! Small store with a surprisingly big selection and super friendly staff. Ample parking, Wells Fargo, and a Starbucks in the same shopping center.”

“Just chiming in to say the sandwiches are still as good as I remember them from 20 or so years ago when this area was my stomping grounds. I happened to be in the area today around lunchtime. My first thought was to go to Sam's Sandwiches, but I found out they had closed for good. Next thought was Adeline, and I was happy to see they are open and thriving! I think what makes their sandwiches so good is the liberal use of thinly sliced red onion. Whatever it is, there's just something really great about what appear to be very basic sandwiches.”

“Quality and healthy foods but be prepared to pay much higher prices. 7" pie at Draegers costs the same as 10" at chain stores Higher prices for slightly upgraded ingredients and service”

“Good selection, quality and prices. The deli fried chicken is as good as KFC or Popeye's at half the price. The deli makes tortilla chips fresh daily that are great. Rarely are there long check out lines.”

“Draeger's Market in San Mateo is a culinary haven that never fails to impress. Here's what makes this place a standout: Beautiful Store Ambiance: Draeger's is not just a grocery store; it's an experience. The store exudes elegance and charm, creating a pleasant atmosphere for shoppers. The presence of a florist adds a touch of beauty to the environment, making every visit a delight. Irresistible Bakery and Cakes: The bakery at Draeger's is a sweet tooth's dream come true. The cakes are not only visually stunning but also incredibly delicious. From classic favorites to unique creations, their bakery never disappoints. Exceptional Prepared Food Department: For those days when cooking is not on the agenda, Draeger's prepared food department comes to the rescue. The variety and quality of ready-to-eat options make it easy to enjoy a gourmet meal without the hassle of cooking. Upstairs Extravaganza: The upstairs area is a treasure trove for kitchen enthusiasts. From home goods to unique kitchen tools, Draeger's offers a curated selection that elevates the shopping experience. The added bonus of special events and cooking school sessions upstairs makes it a multifaceted destination for food lovers. Celebrity Encounters and Book Signings: Draeger's goes above and beyond by hosting special events, including book signings by culinary legends like Lidia Bastianich. The opportunity to meet and learn from such influential figures adds an extra layer of excitement to the Draeger's experience. It's disheartening to hear about the potential changes to the building, but the prospect of a smaller version of the market on the first level provides some comfort. Draeger's Market has become a local culinary institution, and I hope the essence of this wonderful place continues in its new form. For now, I'll continue to savor the unique offerings that make Draeger's a true gem in San Mateo.”

“We each got a taco platter, so two tacos each--2 chicken, 1 lengua, and 1 al pastor... Tacos were more than decent--they exceeded my expectations. You see, I was led to believe we walked in to El Palenque, so I was excited until I discovered that we were actually somewhere that had only TWO stars, so I was a little nervous... Turns out the lengua was tender and flavorful, and the al pastor was very tasty! Fresh tomatillo salsa was VERY fresh, and the chips were also fresh and very tasty...rice was fluffy, and the beans were rich and well-seasoned...was a relief to see that it was actually pretty good!”

“We were lucky enough to find the deli section open. We perused through the foods available but still chose the tacos we wanted. I chose two tacos with tripas, the lady fried it a bit first, added onions and cilantro and pico de gallo. It was excellent, we liked the texture. My brother requested a couple of carnitas tacos with red sauce. He found it great as well as he was craving something spicy. We brought home a caldo de res, it was nice and meaty. We also picked up some produce. It was mostly self serve at check out and glad the veggies and fruits had scanning codes. Service is nice but they are busy.”

“Better selection / fewer out of stock items than Safeway - especially milk! Less hectic parking and store = better ambiance / shopping experience! Easter steak & potatoes from the deli were better than Town (popular steakhouse)! The lady preparing these really went above and beyond!”

“It can be walked on foot, and there are elementary schools and bus stops nearby. There are parking spaces for disabled people, and there are many businesses nearby, which is very convenient.”

“Got a chance to checkout the sandwich shop while I was in the area. It is a delightful sandwich stop conveniently located within the grocery store. If you are in a rush this shop has a wide range of options, and it's a go-to for a quick and tasty sandwich. Fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations make their sandwiches a solid choice. The service is quick and the people there are extremely nice. If sandwiches don't appeal to you they have plenty of other options that look delicious. The sandwich itself isn't out of this world but gets the job done. It is extremely filling and quite nice. They also toast the sandwich if you would like. Overall I would recommend this place if you are in the area.”
