The veterinarians and the vet technicians take consistently excellent care of our best friends. Natalie, Lorraine, Kayla, and Curt working the front desk always do what they can to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible and is squared away logistically - that stuff does not go unnoticed. Thank you so much for all that you do.

Highly recommend Amici Pet hospital if you’re looking for a genuine health care for your pets!! My 7-years old klee kai received the most caring treatment from Dr.Lafey! The team at Amici hospital would not hesitate to help you out when your precious pets are in need.. Also a huge thanks to Natalie for being so friendly and cooperative every time I visit clinic with concerns! My dog Mochi and I safely arrived in South Korea with Dr.Lafey’s health certificate. Sending a great love from South Korea :)!

Everyone here is incredible, from the front desk, to the techs and the vets every time I come here they walk me through everything that’s going on, make suggestions, and explain every step and medication thoroughly. Been coming here for a couple years now and highly recommend this vet over many other SD vets. Dr. Lafey and Meg were great!

Here's the thing- I would love to give Dr. Fritz a good rating. She was always great to deal with. But the problem is that in order to see her, you have to deal with the absolutely TOXIC reception staff. It may not be all at the front desk staff, but I have consistently encountered issues. First off, they will put you on hold for upwards of 15 min every time you call. I understand urgent things can come up but not every single time! And when you are in the waiting room, it becomes clear that they are happy to put you on hold and then just lazily proceed with their day, sometimes even loving on THEIR pets that they bring to work with them and have behind the desk. I had an instance when I called and specifically listed off the things I needed to achieve during an appointment I was trying to make. We were moving and needed to address a few annual things before heading out of state. I was told that the doctor did not have any openings but they could get us in for a tech visit. I reiterated my objectives for the appointment to confirm they would be achieved and even said maybe this isn't the right fit to which the receptionist said she would schedule the tech appointment. Upon checking out of the tech visit, I find out that we did one of the four things I had requested during my booking and my total was still $300. When I asked why the other things were not done, the receptionist stared at me blankly, and rudely stated that it was only a tech visit. I am relatively certain she was the one I spoke to at booking and didn't care to accept responsibility for her mistake. I asked for my pet's records to be emailed, they never were. I called twice waiting on the phone for a total of 30 min to have them send an email that had previously been requested. They also refuse to send prescriptions to other vendors, forcing you to either stop at the office or go through their pharmacy (which I am sure they make money from). With such poor customer service, it always blows my mind when they say they are booked out months in advance for basic annual exams. If you do choose to go here, know they are the type of place that is going to advise you run every possible test even if it's not a logical approach. I brought my pet with an upset stomach and our bill came up to over $1K only to find out she had a stomach bug that resolved the next day. And that's after I questioned some of the suggested testing that would have resulted in the exact same treatment and putting a pause on some of the more aggressive treatment they had suggested; we went with hydration and an anti-nausea med and she was back to new. Dr. Lafey is fine, if not a bit condescending and aloof.

Everyone here is super nice! My dog LOVES coming here and Dr. Laffey is great! He explains things without making you feel stupid or that you don't care for your dog.

Having dealt with the gambit of all types of vets, it's really nice to have one I feel like I can actually recommend to the people and pets I care about.Dr. Lafey is the best. Communicative, honest, understands how anxious pet parents can be, and always trying to make sure I do the best thing, not the most extensive or expensive.Even after an issue, he and Dr. Saltzman have been great about making sure me and my pup feel safe and supported.A lot of vets make you feel like you're dealing with a mechanic. Not here.

Our 20 year old cat Lola has been seeing Dr. Hayes ever since we moved to San Diego, and we could not ask for a better veterinarian. Dr. Hayes and her team are skilled, caring, knowledgeable, and we value their advice and recommendations regarding our little geriatric baby?❤️

The team over at Amici Pet Hospital of Little Italy genuinely cares about their pets and clients. They've gone above and beyond each and every time. I'm very grateful and thankful Robbie, my senior corgi, has a great care team with Amici!Dr. Scott Lafey, our primary vet, has been meticulous, kind and very thorough in all of our visits. He takes his time going over potential causes of infections and injury, risks associated with each treatment plan and potential probabilities of what could happen, if we left things unchecked and alone. He is also patient with his explanations too and I always leave more educated and informed than when I walked in.The staff and technicians also deserve a shoutout as well, especially Natalie H., one of the Client Care Specialists. She definitely cares about all the pets and their owners, and really brings the human into client care and interactions. I love interacting with her each and every visit, especially with how kind, genuine and real she is. Amici Pet Hospital, please give this gal a raise - she definitely deserves it and is one of the main reasons I decided to transfer over to Amici Pet Hospital of Little Italy.Without a doubt, y'all are the best. Thank you for caring for Robbie as he was your own!

I really never leave reviews on Google, but I’ve felt compelled to leave this review because of how kind Amici staff, vet techs and veterinarians have been to my dog. They are simply incredible. So caring, kind, attentive, and really love animals. I am so thankful they are my veterinarian. I could not recommend them more!

I have been taking my dog here for 6 years now and highly recommend it. Yesterday I called them because my dog was having pain and I didn’t want her suffering for a few more days. They could hear I was upset and concerned and made an accommodation for me to drop her off so the vet could check her in between appointments. They were obviously very busy and I really appreciated the care we received from the staff and the vet.

I have felt very comforted since switching to Amici. It's really a neighborhood institution, and my pets love the staff there. The doctors and all the staff love their patients and you can really tell. They are independently owned, and I've never felt like they have done any tests or treatments that were unnessaey or not in the best interest of my babies. I appreciate them.

I can't say enough great things about Amici Pet Hospital. I've been bringing my dog here since he was a puppy and now at 8 years old, I always know he is in good hands when I bring him here. Amici Hospital has an amazing and talented team of veterinary staff that consistently go above and beyond to ensure they identify the root cause of any issues that might come up. They are extremely knowledgeable and take the time to explain things. They are extremely busy, and at times it may be difficult to find an appointment. However, I've had instances where they allowed me to drop off my dog so that they can check on him when they have the time during the day. They'll also call if at the last minute a cancellation comes up. I also really appreciate the fact that a day or two after every visit, they call to check-in on my dog to see how he is doing. It's these little gestures that makes this pet hospital stand far above the rest, Overall, this is the best pet hospital here in San Diego. I always refer my friends to Amici.

Amici is a great vet to take your pets to! I completely trust Dr. Hayes with my fur baby and we've been going here for about 2 years. We have a 15 year old cat who is starting to show his age; I've had him his entire life and he means the world to me. His eye started to have a big brown spot on it, so we took him in. They told us we should go see a specialist to be safe, and not only have a few recommendations, but offered to try and pull strings if it took too long to get him in. We took him to VCA eye clinic and they were not great. They eventually tried to quote us over $3,000 for eye removal surgery after eye drops were ineffective, and pushed getting a prosthetic eye (for extra cost). We reached back out to Amici and they were able to do the surgery for HALF the price of VCA - they also told us prosthetics are risky and they wouldn't recommend it for the cat's safety! Dr. Hayes was completely attentive before and after the surgery, even calling us on a Saturday night to give results of his biopsy right away. She has been so kind and caring and provides really good health care; she is the best vet I've taken animals to over the years. Our cat is much happier and healthier now than he was a year ago. We will be going back for his continued care. TLDR: Vet really cares about animals well being and provides good care and services for you and your pets. Recommend!

I decided to leave Amici Animal Hospital after my last appointment there. My cat had bacteria in his ears and during both visits to Amici, the same ointment was prescribed, not working either time. I questioned treating his ears the second time with a different ointment but was still given the same medicine. And a physical exam was given to my cat that lasted approximately 30 seconds. All I saw performed was my cat's teeth were glanced at from the side of his lips and that's it. I was charged $75 for the exam. In my opinion, Amici has morphed, more into a business than a pet service. I already have a new vet.

Amici gives the veterinarian experience most of us long for. I adopted a pandemic dog, Milo, a goldendoodle. He's smart and handsome and loyal, but not with others. Abused, he has a fear of strangers, who trigger him to lurch and bite without provocation. Dr. Lafey has held my hand, given advice that has given me a path to stabilize my sweet boy. In addition to prescribing medication, he has made recommendations to engage daycare as often as possible ~ a tired dog is a happy dog ~ and a behaviorist who's sessions have been life changing. So grateful to Dr. Lafey and his team, who DO NOT DISAPPOINT.
