I am writing this complaint to warn others to be cautious when joining Anytime Fitness. Two months before my membership was supposed to renew, I sent an email advising that I would no longer be a member and that they needed to not renew my membership. I followed proper procedure to ensure that there would be no issues, and I received a written response stating that my membership would not renew. (I have a total of 10 emails from the gym and corporate, as well as my responses.)
The person who confirmed the non-renewal never updated my account and they were taking money out of my bank for the membership fee fees. A few months after my membership should have been canceled, I noticed fees on my bank statement. I contacted Anytime Fitness via telephone and written response and I was being ignored. The woman who was supposed to cancel my membership, then texted me and said that I owe money. I sent a text back with the email showing that she was the one that confirmed the cancellation and never heard anything back from them.
After a month of going back-and-forth, I finally heard from the owner or manager of this franchise and he said I needed to come in to cancel my membership. I tried to refuse, but figured I might as well go in just to ensure that it was taken care of. I showed up at the door and my key fob did not work and no one would answer the door. I called and no one answered. So I sent another message in writing and said that they needed to cancel this, and no one answered when I needed to come in. No one would help me, so I went to my bank and they took care of everything and also refunded me some of the money. Anytime Fitness still owes me around $100 but I figured if I could at least get this taken care of and they can’t take any more money, I was fine with that.
Recently, I started getting phone calls from collection agency and I didn’t know why. I thought maybe it was a scam. So I didn’t answer them, but then I got something from my credit report saying that there was something on it that was negatively affecting my credit and it turns out anytime fitness sent this to a collections agency. I have contacted corporate. I have Contacted the Better Business Bureau and I’ve also Filed a dispute because my credit should not be affected for something that they had no right to do.
I am hoping that it doesn’t come down to this, but I may have to go to small claims court and spend more money just because they refuse do their job correctly and won’t correct this on their end. Anytime Fitness, if you are reading this do not call me. I want everything in writing. You need to fix this as I did everything I was supposed to do per your terms to non-renew my membership.
To anyone reading this, I am not the only one that has gone through this. You can search Google and find that there are so many people who have been fighting Different Anytime Fitness franchise locations because of situations like this. Please be aware before signing up for a membership.

This gym is a complete waste of money. Staff is almost never around, and when they are, the posted hours don’t even match. Customer service is terrible—no greeting, no help, just indifference. I sent an email to cancel my membership, followed up, and they’re still charging me. That’s dishonest and unacceptable. On top of that, they’ve overcharged me, which shows how careless and unprofessional they are. I’ve been to other Anytime Fitness locations and had great experiences, but this one is the bad apple of the bunch. Save yourself the frustration and go to a gym that actually values its members and honors their word.

Visiting from out of town. This facility needs a lot of work. It's dirty and has An
atiquated, worn, poorly maintained equipment. Weights and accessories are scattered all over the place and weights left racked by customers. People just hanging out in the parking lot in their cars coming in and out to get water and use the bathroom. Not the Anytime Fitness experience I am accustomed to.

This place is clean and had more than enough space for what I needed to do. I like the variety of equipment that they had available. The weights are downstairs and spaced out along with an open mat for calisthenics or other activities. Upstairs you’ll find the aerobics machines like stair masters, elliptical, treadmills, and stretching chairs. There are cubbies by the door as well as along the wall upstairs. The restrooms are clean and have showers. I like that it wasn’t crowded but it was also about 6/7 in the morning when I went. Parking is alongside the building or you can park on the street.

Big warning to anyone looking to join this gym. They make canceling a membership impossible. You have to prove you've moved away or have experienced a permanent medical injury in order to cancel. I'm currently in touch with the California Dept of Consumer Affairs about this. It makes no sense that a gym membership should be this difficult. Literally any other gym has a sane, rational membership policy that you can cleanly walk away from.

I've been coming here for years, and month by month this place was slowly falling apart, then Adrian and Rik showed up and everything completely changed. Complaints we had about things we didn't like suddenly were answered. amenities like bathroom doors and exercise equipment were suddenly fixed in a timely manner. And I don't know how he does it, but Rik is always in a good mood and takes time to greet people in a friendly way, I really appreciate him. Anytime Fitness should definitely use Adrian and Rik as examples of how to run a gym location properly. Much respect you guys 💯

Only sign up if you want to go here forever because it’s impossible to cancel your membership. They make you go there in person to cancel and then you still get charged. Currently disputing the charges with my credit card company.

Very little cardio equipment and the entire gym smells bad. I had to leave after less than an hour, I couldn’t get over it.
