Their website allows you to book a car for driving with Uber with a confirmation number and everything. Then when you get to the place they inform you they haven't had any cards available for a couple of days. Apparently That's a normal practice. That's the worst flaw in a system I've ever seen. The one star is for the guy at the counter who was very friendly.

Love this location. Super easy pickup. Friendly staff. The cars are great. Everything is clean. Jorge and Ysidro go out of their way to make clients happy with their rentals.

After picked up the mini-van, we discovered the interior was covered full of pet's hair (dog probably). Avis didn't have any other van available to replace....so terrible!

The salesperson at the store did his best to screw me over by changing my reservation, and charging me more. He also said that the vehicle I reserved was not available at another location, even though it was.

Avis OK, Balboa Ave., not so much. Dirty car with 48,000+ miles, stained cloth interior & a screw in a tire. Fortunately that enabled us to replace at the airport after 1 day.

AMAZING experience. It is so rare these days to get service in which someone treats you with kindness and respect. We had an unfortunate family emergency which meant we had to turn our vehicle in early and at a different location in San Diego so that we could fly out immediately for a funeral. On the phone we got the standard "You have to pay $500 for the one way drop off fee", BUT when we went to the Avis on Balboa Avenue, we were treated like people. The manager listened and understood our situation, and he didnt charge us the $500 drop fee. Thank you for such kindness and proving that not everyone is out for money. May God bless you for your compassion.

BEWARE!!! Made a reservation through Costco for a rental car from this horrific place. Advertise as Avis and Budget. Which company is it you ask? Who knows. Wanted to add a second driver, as this is a free add on with a Costco reservation. Was told I could only add on a driver if I provided the drivers license and a major credit card for the additional driver. WHAT??? When I told them I have never been asked to provide a credit card for an additional driver from any rental car agency and why was this necessary I was told, "this is our requirement in case the person renting the car doesn't pay for the rental." WHAT??? I RENTED THE CAR AND PAID FOR THE ENTIRE RENTAL PERIOD IMMEDIATELY SO THERE IS NO CHANCE THAT I WOULDN'T PAY, SINCE I PAID IMMEDIATELY. THIS PLACE IS OPERATED AS A SCAM!!!

You WILL get RIPPED OFF here. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!1) Rented a Nissan Sentra for Uber. Car was really dirty inside (dead leaves on floor in back and liquid stains on seats, gooey stuff on interior door handles) and they said "we don't detail the cars". Basic cleaning is NOT detailing. So they vacuumed, rinsed the exterior, and delivered it to me SOAKING WET.2) I drove it 5 minutes to Walmart (on Shawline, 1.7 miles away) to get a phone mount and it DIED IN THE PARKING LOT. I couldn't even roll up the windows and THEIR roadside assistance told me I'd have buy a new key fob battery, or pay for a jump start, or tow. I objected to that, since I had had the car less than one hour. She transferred me to another guy who told me to get a replacement car from SAN airport. I said "ok, but what happens to this car because it's dead with the windows open in the Walmart parking lot? Should I just leave it here?" He didn't respond, but just transferred me to ANOTHER guy who told me THEY could NOT call the office on Balboa, that **I** might be responsible for the tow charges, and that he could NOT arrange for a replacement car. Then the tow truck driver called to reassure me that he'd be here in LESS THAN AN HOUR.I could walk back to where my own car is parked by their office.Total £€√•%_&-ing headache.Phone system is circular.Manager likes to argue.$340/week ($260 plus taxes, fees, and their collision insurance).

terrible service. decided to charge me a $450 detailing fee on a rideshare rental and not mention it. They kicked me off the app because my card was locked and still charged me another week even though i couldn't use the car for the service. i had some issues with my card before but the service wasn't great even before they pulled this detailing fee outta their behinds
