The Balboa theatre is a beautiful historic theatre. Our seats were in the upper balcony, aka nosebleed section. I felt like I was in the middle seat on an airplane. It was tight and no leg room at all. I am 5’4” and my knees hit the seat in front of me.Perhaps the seats down lower are better - I enjoyed the play we saw, I am glad it was a shorter one because I was very uncomfortable.

Great place for a show. Plenty of staff to take care of everything. They can improve on the Drink lines... they were a little slow.

Balboa Theatre is a small venue. The lobby is very small. The seats are comfortable, but there is no leg room. If someone wants to get by your seat, you have to stand up. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. There was no line to get into the ladies' room. We saw Whose Line Is It Anyway. The show was hilarious! The performers were incredible!

I love this hidden gem in San Diego. We showed up about 15 mins before opening, and the line to get in was quick and simple. Our first stop were drinks, I recommend going directly to the 2nd floor and around the corner towards the elevators. There is a bar just out back that way with usually a much shorter line. I didn't care for the drinks too much, a bit overpriced and very basic. So, just make sure u grab your drinks before or after hand at the many other bars and restaurants in the gaslamp. The overall atmosphere was really nice. Staff were friendly and helped us find our seats. Our seats were located at the balcony in the first row, and the view was still pretty amazing. I can't wait to see another show here and return back.

I thought this theater was located in Balboa Park, but it's not. It's in the heart of downtown SD and within walking distance of the Horton Plaza parking garage.Nice location, intimate venue and well organized. ?

Lovely intimate theater in Downtown San Diego, adjacent to Horton Plaza. We came to see Josh Gates LIVE! Perfect venue for this event.Save time and park in the Horton Plaza parking garage. The theater offers validation stickers for that lot.The theater lobby was a tight squeeze accommodating the entry/exit, 2 bars, restroom access, and merchandise stand.Bar prices were what you'd expect for a venue. $$. Great variety though.Restrooms were down a flight of stairs, although I do believe ADA restrooms were accessible via the main floor at a separate entrance.

Nice theater. Line moved quick. Like all old theaters refreshments are terrible. They’re always a table in the main walkway and absurdly priced. They making navigating to your seat an adventure. Once inside the theater looks well cared for. I would add photos but they’re militant about not taking pictures.
