Everyone at the 3361 Rosecrans Banfield Pet Hospital is very helpful and caring! My two cats receive great care, and I trust they are in kind hands whenever I drop them off. My questions always get answered, and I find their online access to vet care professionals helpful when after hours needs arise.

I called Friday afternoon to see if I could get my dog in Saturday as he wasn't feeling good. They told me the only option was to drop him off, but they convinced me to take him to the ER instead. At the ER they told me to follow up with my regular vet. I tried calling Saturday morning repeatedly and no one would answer. Therefore, I decided to just bring my dog in. They refused to see him even though 14 hours earlier they told me I could drop him off. Yet another crappy understaffed Banfield clinic.

We’ve been using Banfield Point Loma for about 20 years now for the care of our beloved dogs. The staff and the veterinarians have always been most professional and caring. The staff there now in 2025 excels in love and care. I cannot recommend them more highly than I do !

This location is constantly calling me and booking appointments for me without my permission. Avoid them.

Super nice on the phone and will say what you want to hear but in reality super unorganized which will lead to a bunch of unexpected fees from my experience. I’m not a review person but felt it’s time to write my first!
I’ve been going to Banfield since I moved to San Diego (twice in two years) and it’s been a bit difficult working with them each time. I’m going to be switching after this past visit.
This past visit was for flea/tick meds, regular vaccines and a little thing on my dogs eyelid I wanted checked out as well as a travel certificate. I shared this ahead of time with them prior to the visit and was told they would be able to take a look at everything (seems reasonable).
I was told upon picking my dog up that for the eye I will need to go to a different banfield location which will be a separate visit and exam charge to determine what it is and if they would operate (not sure why that wouldn’t be shared ahead of time as I would have gone to a different location to begin with and now need another separate visit which you also have to pay for).
They forgot to do the flea and tick medications so I had to go back and be charged again which also shows as an extra visit after their mistake.
I was told that they no longer do health certificates at this location and can do another separate visit to another location for that. Again would have been great to be told ahead of time rather than needing to pay for another separate visit to a different vet for that within the banfield network.
And also not a big deal but the weight was off by about 12 lbs (25% so seems substantial?) which I noticed and had her weighed to confirm upon pickup. I was told that “their systems don’t update” like that and had them manually correct the vaccination record dates, flea tick dates, and the weight. Just seems like majorly unorganized to not have something simple like that updated and to be treated like I’m a difficult client to simply ask for the records to show the most recent visit.
Again not a huge deal but after my visit and $280 (and then an additional $150 for the flea meds after having to go back same day) I’m told I would have needed a different location to have done everything I asked for.
Seems a little odd to review the record and find nothing updated, and to be treated again like I’m being unreasonable to ask them to update and correct the records (the did manually). Overall very unorganized and treat you like you’re in the wrong to ask for simple things like updating records to current.
Bummer to have to switch vets but definitely won’t put me through the banfield chaos again for something which seems pretty routine. I’ve lived in a few different states and two countries with my dog and this is by for the least organized and not client friendly place I’ve been as far as vets go. Glad to see others in the reviews do occasionally have good experiences but that has not been my experience unfortunately.

The worst. Showed up for my appt. Told me I’d have to drop dog off because they were overbooked. Their website advertises a free coupon for office visit. They refused to take it even tho it’s right off the website. Walked the front office staff through the coupon process on the website to show that it was misleading and the voucher that was sent to my email. They kept arguing with me that I wasn’t a new patient even though they couldn’t find my dog in the system so I had to register. It’s a zoo. I ONLY didn’t walk out because my dog was itchy and it was my only day off to get his allergy shot. And I missed yoga dealing with them. Rock hard pass.

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG OR CAT HERE! They will literally keep your animal suffering and throw a bunch of medications at you to keep them alive to get the money out of you! And their insurance is ridiculous! If your animal passes be prepared to still have to pay the $1,000 yearly fee! All they care about is money!

I’m super appreciative and grateful for the team at Banfield my pup was hurt/ attacked at day care today by another dog ripping his ear. The day care downplayed it but once I picked him up on my lunch break he was pooling blood in the car and the small cut was more of a tear. My poor guy. I called banfield and they were able to fit him in today and get him stitched up and even did his dental cleaning while he was under. They called me throughout the process to update me on his treatment and status. Overall, I’m super grateful for this team- the doctors, assistants and front desk- everyone is great and my Sir Dougie boy is on the road to healing. What a stressful Valentine’s Day for the little lover boy but Banfield came in clutch!

I went to see because I was wondering if i should have my cat insured there. They said yes she has to be seen first and then they would talk to me about the different plans. I dropped her off because that's what they asked me to do so they could examine her and see if she's fit for an insurance. So I did and got charged $144 for that visit for the day. My cat was there for over 6 hours. They told me she was gonna do blood work and other stuff. They didn't do the bloodwork when I came to pick her up they said they couldn't do the bloodwork that day, and they said she needs to come back again to get it done but didn't schedule me an appointment. After that they just said it was gonna be almost $70 a month. They didn't explain anything to me at all . They didn't tell me what was done to my cat and what plan she was put on. and I paid a ton of money. Unhappy I realized they stuck me in a plan that I have no idea how it works. So I decided to call them the next day to tell them I felt tricked into this plan . Well they said i have to pay some difference and proceeded to ask for another $79 dollars to get out of it. It feels like they just want money. I'm glad i got out but im upset that I paid almost $220 all my cat got was heartworm treatment. I feel ripped off. The staff was nice tho the girls are nice but they don't inform people about what we are paying.
Im mad that my friend pays insurance for his dog there and when we took him to get a teeth cleaning they told him the dog needed to get a tooth pulled and billed him 1k for it. Im glad i got out of this crap. I'm already struggling enough I don't need places like this charging me up the wazoo unnecessarily. 🫤 I wish I could get my money back.
