*****Do not stay at the Baymont by Wyndham San Diego Downtown or any other Wyndham Hotel! They do not care about your safety.****When we tried to plug in to the outlet next to the bed it sparked! Then we noticed the other outlet on the set was melted! There was obviously a short in the outlet and it was unsafe. We then noticed the metal plate that should be on the doorframe to keep people from forcing the door open was missing! we noticed they were doing some maintenance, repainting the floor above our so we were only a little bothered by the state of the wallpaper and paint you will see in the attached picture. We were more concerned about the door not being secure. When we tried to call the front desk using the phone provided in the hotel room. Instead of getting the front desk of the Baymont we got the voicemail of the Red Roof Inn! After several attempts we used our cell phone to call the regular number for the hotel. We were curtly informed that the hotel had been the Red Roof Inn 6 years ago and sometimes the phone lines mess up.When we informed them about the outlet and door their response was, "We will fix it when you leave." They did not move us to another room. We had no other place to go and our allotted funds were tied up in this hotel. And it was only for one night and we thought we could deal with it in the morning. We have been trying to get in touch with the GM of the hotel for 2 weeks. We have called at various times of the day and left messages. We still have not gotten in touch with them!We called Wyndham Corporate and they told us it was our fault and there would be no offer of refund or help. They went on to say a guest has 15 minutes after checking in to thoroughly check the room and complain. Be aware if you complain after 15 minutes they feel they have no responsibility. We were also informed that they do not have to have a working in room phone and it is not industry standard. "Guests bring their cell phone and should use that to call the front desk if there is a problem." According to a 2020 FCC Kari Law hotels are REQUIRED to have a working phone so a guest can call 911 and the front office!

this place was absolutely horrible!! they placed me next to the custodian room. the maids left baskets of dirty laundry and trash cans right outside my door!! I tried to call the front office after having to squeeze by them but the phone didn't have a phone cord!!!! the bed kept sliding off the rails and was hard as a rock. I asked to move but was told they where full. later on I noticed we didn't have a ice bucket so I walked to the front office, I would have called but you know, the phone didn't have a freaking cord. got to the office and was told ther they where all out of buckets!! I'm the way back to my room I ran into a maid and asked her for an ice bucket and she said she get me one......from the empty room!!! never again!!! don't book here

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE. There were not only bed bugs under our bed but NESTS in our bed as well. They refused to give us new sheets and said if there was no rooms available there was nothing they could do. Check your beds before laying in them !!!

At first I gave this hotel a four-star recommendation, I have since been back there maybe a year later with an adjusted review of one star. I thought that this was the place to go but in the end pristine wind up swindling you out of affordable prices. They took my $100 deposit for evidence of smoking in the room when I'm a non-smoker and left the room in pristine condition. Even going so far as wrapping up the blankets and sheets to make maid service is uncomplicated as possible. Do not stay at this hotel. They will take your money!!

I hope someone can see this review prior to booking.I stayed here and it was a terrible experience. First off I am upstairs media and it said they offer the shuttle service from the airport. I waited at the airport for over an hour and finally called the hotel, because there was no shuttle service. I then had to pay for an Uber to get to the hotel and the hotel didn't offer anything as far as the false advertisement of a shuttle service. The breakfast was dirty, we tried getting water and you can see from the photos the dirt that came with it. There was a female working the front desk and was recording another customer who had fallen at the hotel and was being carried away by paramedics, posting it on social media. The employee continually followed the customer all the way to the ambulance, taking photos and videos of him, her name started with an M. The general manager just stated no refunds and nothing else. The room a/c didn't work and the room was not clean.

Sad to say, I think I would have preferred staying at a Motel 6. At least they have an actual door to the restroom. I've never stayed in a hotel where the shower is connected to where the closet would be. Because of this, it made it feel almost always humid in there and our clothes that we hung in the closet felt a bit damp to the touch. That's just the beginning. When we got there, the front desk clerk had assigned us to Room 101: the room literally behind the lobby. I actually didn't mind this and was relieved since I knew that they were just a couple feet away in case I ever needed anything. I realized later on that this wouldn't matter since where it was situated, there would be a lot of shady men and a bunch of people smoking cigarettes and talking on their phones so loudly right outside our door, it made us feel uncomfortable. When we first entered the room, we do what any normal person would do: check the entire room for any damages or filth. This place had plenty of both. There was a literal hole where someone burned a cigarette butt into the curtain. Most of the wooden furniture were tarnished and in general, everything needed a remodel. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel, but I also wasn't expecting to find crumbs all over the desk chair and all underneath the desk itself. When I asked the front desk clerk to send a maid in to clean the crumbs up, I kid you not all she did was take a yellow rag and swept it off till it was underneath the desk. That was it. Equivalent to a 3 year old cleaning up after themselves. I usually tip housekeeping at the end of our trips but I felt that this place didn't deserve it at all. Plus, the only thing the bed has got going on is the fact that it's king size. You'd probably be better off sleeping on the couch with how uncomfortable that mattress was. It made us miss our mattress back at home. The first night, I barely slept a wink because of that damn mattress and how sucky the pillows are. I know it's my personal preference but I could never sleep on such thin pillows that your head sinks in completely.Don't even get me started on the continental breakfast. I've only ever had continental breakfast from one other hotel before so I guess it'd be unfair to compare but goddamn. It was akin to my high school cafeteria's breakfast. But at least our bananas weren't all bruised up. If the family of four doesn't take a whole stack of waffles and bagels up to their room (even though there's a literal sign that says you can't take any food to-go), you'll have plenty of those. You'll also have cereal with milk just sitting there in a pitcher, not even being chilled. They've also got white and wheat toast. If you're lucky, you get a chocolate muffin with some cinnamon on top (we only saw this our first morning there). They seem to switch up yogurt brands every other day and that's surprisingly chilled just on top of ice cubes. I feel like they have more spreads and jellies than they do the actual food itself. I was expecting eggs and some sausage or something. We were horribly mistaken. Oh and if you wanna grab a beverage to go with your dry, nothing-but-simple-carbs breakfast, you can either go with watered down coffee or watered down fruit juice. Your choice! :)Last but not least, the parking! There's an upper lot and the parking garage that's downstairs. How do we get downstairs? Not through an elevator or anything actually made for pedestrians. You gotta get back down there the same way the cars enter (in this convoluted way because you have to go down two streets since it's all one-way) from an awkward uphill drive. Then you push a button, and voila you've entered the weird, shady parking garage! The only way to exit is through the conveniently located gate that spits you back out onto the street and you've gotta walk up that weird hill again and back towards the hotel. At least you'll get some exercise.

Wish I would of checked yelp before I booked this hotel.. I've stayed in many many places and this didn't even have a coffee maker! Room was so musty n old cigarette smelling. Homeless folks right outside the driveway.. Extra fee of $19 just to park. Breakfast was mediocre and served for 30 min!! Don't do it. Not worth the price, at all.

Recently during a visit to San Diego; I stayed at the Baymount hotel. We had booked the room months prior using the Wyndham Rewards site when we heard of the possibilities of San Diego Comic-Con doing a show over Thanksgiving weekend and were able to find a reasonable rate. The hotel is located about a 24-minute walk from the Convention Center and looked like it would be a reasonably priced locale with good amenities. I called a few weeks prior to my trip and was given helpful responses to my questions which set a positive tone for the visit.I arrived a few hours before check-in so I could see about doing my check-in paperwork early and perhaps leaving my bags and was curtly told by an inattentive clerk that it would cost $25.00 if I wanted to check in early. Being tired from my long drive I was willing to pay this to go to my room even though my original plan was simply to do the paperwork ahead of time.I was then told there was no reservation for me. I provided my name and an alternate spelling and again was told there was no reservation to which I replied by showing the e-mail confirmation. Yet again I was told there was no reservation and I suggested typing in the confirmation number. Once that was accomplished I was told that they found it without any apology for the confusion.I was then informed that it would be $19.00 a day for parking which was not disclosed when I booked the room as I had been under the impression that parking was free. My room was clean and offered a comfy and sizeable bed, a desk, and television with numerous channels as well as a fridge, microwave, and safe. The only real issues were a door lock that required repeated attempts with a keycard and a big shove to open and close as well as a worn area of the carpet and areas of the flood that depressed when stepped upon. The bathroom was a shock as it featured an oversized counter and a toilet that literally faced the wall to the point where my knees touched the wall when I sat upon it. The edge of the counter also poked into my side which clearly made things interesting. The shower was more of a large square than a tub and while the pressure was fine; there were repeated vibrations of significance at random times likely from other people using theirs at the same time. The WI-Fi in the room was ok for e-mail and general browsing but would lose connection at various times and made something as simple as uploading a small video clip impossible. That being said my phone reception was fine and allowed me to stay connected.Breakfast the next morning was a bit of an adventure as while the times listed a 6:30 AM start time; it was actually 7:00 AM. Upon arriving I was greeted with an unmasked guest coughing away without covering his mouth near the coffee machine and combined with the juice dispenser not working gave me amble reason to avoid that corner of the room. Offerings of cereal, fruit, instant oatmeal, yogurt, and bread were available and I took some bread and toppings to eat up in my room. After a full day covering and speaking at the convention, I took advantage of a Convenience store across from the hotel when the vending machine was not working and also found some food options a short walk away to avoid food delivery. On the morning of check out, I noticed that I had no towels as the Maid service had taken the ones from the prior day without replacing them. I had to call down to the lobby and wait for new ones to be left outside the door. The hotel has a small parking lot with a garage around the side and I had been able to find a space near my room. Sadly this turned out to be an issue as there was a Disabled spot behind my car which a large vehicle had used and since they had parked half their vehicle length over the line space; I was unable to back up. The office was unattended so I had to wait for staff to return and locate the owner of the vehicle so they could back up and properly park and allow me to leave.Wyndham has a range of hotels such as Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, and La Quinta amongst their inventory so from time to time we have st
