I had the unfortunate misfortune of booking a stay at Lamplighter Inn & Suites at SDSU, and to put it lightly, it was a complete disaster from start to finish. What was marketed as a comfortable stay with modern amenities turned out to be a nightmare filled with deceit and attempted theft.Let's start with the basics: the advertised WiFi. Upon checking in, I was assured that the hotel had reliable WiFi access throughout the premises. However, to my dismay, the WiFi was nonexistent. Multiple attempts to connect were met with frustration, and the staff's response was utterly unhelpful. It's baffling how a supposedly reputable establishment could blatantly mislead its guests regarding such a fundamental amenity. Then, we were assured that we would be given a discount/partial refund for our stay since the WiFi wasn't working... Surprise surprise, they offered us a discount for a future stay. No chance. The rooms were old and outdated, not modern and not worth the price we paid.To compound the issue, upon realizing I had inadvertently left my headphones behind in the room, I returned to retrieve them only to find they had mysteriously vanished. Utilizing the "Find My iPhone" feature, I discovered they were still within the vicinity of the hotel. Upon contacting the hotel staff, I was informed that the housekeeper hadn't reported finding anything. Nevertheless, I was invited to search the room myself. I intially stopped at the front desk and again was told, no luck but I could look through the room myself. As I made my way to the room, situated at the rear of the property, I noticed the headphones had been relocated from our room to the front desk area via the "Find My iPhone" feature. After searching the room and unsurprisingly not finding them, I know I left them on the desk in plain sight, I returned to the front desk. They were showing up and connecting to my iPhone and then the chubby Mexican girl said they may have been wrapped up in the linens and that she would go and check the laundry. I watched her waddle out and turn a corner for all of 3 seconds and then return while pulling my headphones out of her pocket.Coincidence? Highly unlikely. It seems that in addition to failing to provide the services they advertise, the staff at Lamplighter Inn & Suites at SDSU also dabble in attempted theft. In conclusion, my experience at Lamplighter Inn & Suites at SDSU was nothing short of a disaster. From the false promises of WiFi to the attempted theft of my belongings, it's clear that this establishment falls far short of even the most basic standards of hospitality. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of other accommodations in the area that actually deliver on their promises and treat their guests with the respect they deserve.Noteworthy details: No wifi. Don't leave anything behind.

Great value for money.good location for anyone visiting SDSU where you can catch the trolley service which is excellent. The rooms are good with super comfy beds and pillows. The WiFi is excellent and free, and the TV has a good choice of channels. And lastly if you like bbq food, Corbin's is less than 5 minute walk and do the best bbq I've tasted..

This is a Japanese review. I stayed there for two nights and three days at the end of the year.My room was at the end of the second floor on the top floor, so I thought it would be a quiet room. There was a family of 4 with 2 young children in the next room, and from morning until 9pm I could hear people jumping on the bed, laughing, and voices I couldn't understand but I was stressed out. did. It seemed to be an old building, so the walls were thin, and if it had been on the first floor, I think I would have walked out halfway through, but I was out sightseeing during the day, so I guess I could barely survive. The room had minimal cleanliness and amenities, and the staff's service was good, so the only complaint was the noise from other guests. Also, if you want to see the ocean, it's a little far from overseas, so that's a bit of a disadvantage. It's good that there are restaurants nearby and parking is free.To be honest, if I were asked if I would come here again next time, I would be disappointed.

I loved it for several reasons, including the location, cleanliness, safety and breakfast, and the most important advantage is the large size of the room and it has two and a half beds..

I found the perfect hidden gem in San Diego. My husband and I travel to San Diego frequently for work and have stayed at many many motels and hotels here. Lamplighter Inn is slightly further out than we normally stay but so worth the extra few miles. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and the grounds are so well kept. The biggest bonus is that they offer rooms with small kitchens. I like to cook instead of eating at restaurants the entire time when traveling. Plus they have a breakfast room where I can get coffee , hard boiled eggs, waffles, yogurt, pastries and fruit included with the stay. I am so glad I found this place after doing extensive research online. Kudos to the owners and staff for the amazing job that they do here. Every day I have been here I have watched many employees working to higher standards than I have seen in a long time. The cleaning crew cleaned the outside of the windows, I saw them wiping the walls down and the gardeners also do a great job. As I am writing this it is my fourth night here and can say that the beds are comfortable and it has been very quiet here at night. So nice to have a good nights sleep when working away from home. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you very much to the amazing staff. We will return when scheduled to work in San Diego.

It’s a vibe. Rooms big. Retro and clean. Close to college and amphitheater. If you are uptight about rooms, you may not like because the decor is a bit dated. But that’s what I loved about it.

We were looking for a place near the Soda Bar for a concert, and this place kept popping up and man it was PERFECT! We got a king room and the room was clean, the bed was the good kind of soft and the water pressure was incredible. The pool was open, water was clean and wasn't over-chlorinated like most hotel pools. Breakfast had lots of options and we were able to get a few snacks for the road, too!We were probably in the hotel a total of 8 hours but it was a great 8 hours!Walkability: You are smack in downtown San Diego, there's food and nightlife on every corner.
