The absolute best location for Avis. Super convenient spot and customer service is above and beyond from Joe. About the only time I have gotten the exact car I reserved from Avis, and could not be happier with this particular pickup spot. The garage is around the corner, but they bring the car to you extremely quickly, and they work hard. Highly recommend this location as a longtime Avis renter.

Younger gentlemen I believe named Adam, upcharged me for refueling while I returned the car full a day early. Unhelpful fixing this mistake and telling me I get a callback but I hear nothing. (Just call customer service…?)Please fix the training so Adam is up to speed and can fix issues like this. I wasted half a day and now have to go through credit card disputes with my bank to rectify this.Were all humans but at least try to fix it…

The only reason I even gave one star is I left with a car...not the one I rented and pre paid for but at least a car. I prepaid with points and money and had to pay AGAIN when I came to pick up the car because they couldn't find my reservation! I called customer service who also couldn't find it but somehow they figured out a way to charge my credit card twice and take the points out of my account! We have a business account with Avis also and after this fiasco we'll be taking our business elsewhere! We still haven't resolved this a week after the rental! DONT TRUST AVIS! Joe told me to call customer service then left for the night! I then had to wait for Evan to finish with his customer to help me. Disgusted!

While the selection is more limited at this Avis location, Joe more than makes up for it. Simply put, he exemplifies customer service and professionalism. While renting a vehicle from Avis for several months, I encountered a few mechanical issues. Each time, he worked with me to resolve the problem quickly. He always followed through and did so cheerfully and reliably. He is a HUGE asset to that location and to the Avis brand. I will be back.

I would not suggest renting with this company or this location in La Jolla. I reserved an SUV weeks prior, only to arrive at the location (sketchy building) where I was told the car wasn’t available, and that one other minivan car and two other cars of some kind that were smoked in were available. I needed an SUV, and so was directed to drive to the airport to pick one up, where we would receive a free gas of tank because of the inconvenience. An hour later at the airport, I was told that was false. The company does not offer a free gas tank, and I would still be charged the total $177. I canceled my reservation but still have a 48 hold on my account for that fee. Altogether, I lost 3 hours and had to rent with Enterprise. Enterprise was much more professional and worth the additional $50. Not worth the hassle working with Budget in my opinion. I was lucky I didn’t have a deadline, otherwise this would have been more stressful. What a nightmare of a company.

Really bad experience! Nobody there when I arrived (after I had checked that someone would be in then by calling the day before). Had to wait around for almost 30 minutes and I was in a rush to leave town. Also, the phone number they provided is not direct to the person who works there but to a central number with lots of menu options, etc., and doesn't get right to the missing agent.

Bad start to getting a rental for 2 weeks while staying here in LaJolla. Called yesterday, no return call. Called this morning, no return call. Booked online late last night, walked 2 miles to Avis and waited 15 minutes for employee to take care of 2 customers in front of us. I will update review as we go. Hopefully things get better in the days ahead, although we still are not in our rental car!!! OK - 1 hour later and I'm in our rental driving off and added a star. So far things improving. Hopefully another star by the end of the day!
