Stopped in to grab some groceries while on this side of town. I love shopping here because you can walk into almost any store and expect great prices, brands, and similar layouts in all the stores. The staff asked if I needed help multiple times as I walked through the aisles, but this was a quick trip for me. Got what I needed and got out, noticeable price difference between here and other grocery stores.

As I prepared for the 4th of July weekend my family and were lucky enough to land a navy beach cottage on extremely short notice. So like most folks on base that need food— we headed to the commissary. It was very clean and well maintained. Prices were affordable and there were plenty of cashiers in hand to help with the large influx of people getting their last minute dogs and burgers for the weekend.

My favorite Commissary, staff is so friendly, good grocery options and everything is on its place!

Ok selection overall... the produce is always great- the best of the 3 commissaries.

I feel they have fresher produce than 32nd street. Plus, there’s always a shorter line here. It’s a bit smaller but I feel it’s worth making the trip for convenience.

This is one of my favorite commissaries to shop at. Always very clean staff is very friendly. It can't get busy doing lunch hour. But they are pretty well stocked

The great thing about it is it's a lot emptier than 30 second street, serious as far as customers. But not as much product but it is smaller so that's expected, but could use some remodeling but same bathrooms for the last 30 years. Overall pleasant shopping experience though in the staff was right on target as far as their job.

A little enthusiasm among the employees would help. After all you're serving the world's greatest naval fleet. Show some pride y'all.

If you use the commissary I would not recommend North Island for families. This commissary seems geared towards the single Sailors that live on base. There's not much of a selection, 32nd St and Camp Pendleton has much more selections.

Very rude employee who shouted at me "you need to put on a mask without providing me with one!

Mask mandate back in place... except one overzealous employee (older aged Asian female) won't let you take your mask off even to eat, which makes no sense. When that employee left, another employee said it was okay to eat.

Decent place to do grocery shopping but a tad expensive if you asked me. It’s more of a convenient store that just got an expanded. They don’t have much variety. The meat area rarely have anything and the checkout line is always short of cashiers. Only 2 cashiers open with a long lines stretch to the back and the self checkout always have some issues that it’s not worth it.

This review is based off of multiple visits over the past year. Staff is friendly, but this Commissary has the worst selection of items out of all the Commissaries in the area and a lot of things need to be restocked. It's easy to see why many things are sold out when they have four to five Cashier's working and only one person restocking items.
