Really neat to see and open to the public during the day. It was really quiet too since most people assume it's private due to the gate. Unfortunately you couldn't go to the end due to the high waves.

An Incredible location where the ocean and the sunset are the most majestic, almost magical. A great place to have a romantic night, a walk with family, a good time by ourself. The lights and the colours of these beautiful canvas changes every night to offer a different paint every night. We had the greatest time over the pier. We enjoyed a nice and long walk. We enjoyed the pier as well, we just nicely asked a man if we could get on the pier to enjoy the sunset and he accepted.Parking was complicated but we found a really nice man who helped us park for free. Undeniably, people in San Diego are the nicest and the sunset is the best. Thank you Mother Nature, I cannot wait to come back next time to enjoy such a lovely city and good people in a great scenery ! I highly and strongly recommend it for all the travellers around the world.

BEWARE! Security is extremely aggressive when it comes to service animals! I was walking with my golden retriever- a 100% trained and working service animal - and two grown men security guards harassed me and followed me down the pier to the make me uncomfortable so I would leave. I get it- they probably deal with people lying about service animals all the time just to get on the pier but I wasn’t asked for proof or anything. I was just yelled at and harassed. It was humiliating!!! And I wasnt doing anything wrong, and neither was my dog! I don’t understand why they take this approach but it is seriously awful. Just a local trying to enjoy a walk with her service animal. I never saw the Christmas tree on the pier and I wanted to experience it before they take it down. It was easy for two grown men to pick on a young girl. Disgusting. There’s got to be a better way.

Unique landmark with a hotel on the pier. It's a public place that opens during daylight. Just open the gate if it's not open and walk right through. Very clean and not crowded compare to other pier. You can park in nearby business for a short walk. Plenty of restaurants and gift shops and street vendors. They even raised a lighted x-mas tree at the end of the pier too. Sure enough that you can pier fishing there, enjoy the view , the surf, and refreshing cold salty air.Highly recommended.

When it was first built in the late 1920s, the Crystal Pier in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood offered a classic amusement park setting above the water.Today's pier offers a much more subdued experience--in all the best ways. The amusement park and ballroom are gone, with only the Crystal Pier Hotel remaining. Guests stay in updated 1930s-era cottages, ranging from studios to two-bedroom suites, each with a seaside sundeck. Reservations are needed months in advanced and the cottages usually range between $250-$600/nightThe historic wooden pier is a serene spot to enjoy sweeping coastal views or watch surfers at play, plus the adjacent beach is an inviting spot to lounge with your toes in the silky sand. For a livelier scene, the intersecting boardwalk offers a three-and-a-half-mile stretch of eclectic shops and restaurants.Just a beautiful landmark in Pacific Beach.

It's a really cool walk on it or under it. There are rental cottages at the beginning with cars parked on the pier in front of the rentals. Fishing is after that. It is a beautiful place to watch the sunset! Although there are limited hours. As I walked back after the sunset, someone was closing the gate and only letting people leave and not enter.

You will have a wonderful time on the pier. Maybe you will try your hand at fishing. Look at those whales! They really are fun. Please, no jumping off the pier for safety reasons. The waves make the water look like it is constantly evolving. Make no mistake, the whales live in the water all year long. The pier is made of wood, so you know it will last for many years to come. There is a place to buy bait so you can feed the sea creatures. The surfers love this area because the waves are capable enough. And the pier closes after dark so everyone can get a good night's sleep. I wonder how long whales can go without sleep. Do they get squirrelly after a couple days of being sleep deprived? If they're anything like me, the answer is still out there.

Crystal Pier is always a great place to watch the surfers ride the waves. The pier divides the swimming/boogie boarding (south of the pier) and surfing (north) areas. Generally, the waves aren't too big, but when they get around 4 feet or bigger, you can feel the pier rock. They close the pier when the surf is too high. Also there's a new bait shop.

Sleep over the ocean! Very unique experience and we love it there. The cottages aren't fancy, but they are very sweet and have everything you need to enjoy a great time in PB. Plan on booking 6-11 months out!
