No other Thrift like it! The most fabulous things on earth to wear are only found here for a fraction of the cost of new anywhere else, if you can even find such wonderful things anywhere else?. Debbra has magical skills in finding the most beautiful and unique things few would even know were available on the market. She perpetually presents new things to me when I visit, and very few times I didn't buy them because she knows what I want.. I am complimented daily on my unique wears. Your foolish to shop elsewhere. Darrell is awesome too. Located in the heart of our unique area of San Diego called Hillcrest Darrell's Modern Thrift Store is like the Cherry on Top of our Rainbow Layered Cake ???

Darrell came to my rescue when I could not find a reasonable delivery service for a thrift piece of furniture. Not only did he accept the job, he gave me a more than reasonable rate. He and is wife, Debbie absolutely made my day. I would highly recommend his store for a wide range of goods and for excellent customer service.

Love this place! It's definitely a great choice, especially for the area - best, most reasonably priced stuff I could find. The staff are sweeties, and I ended up coming back 3 times in one day since I couldn't find anything else that compared. Huge restroom and a good changing room, both with places to put your stuff and lay bags. I'll definitely be coming back :)

Recently, due to the sudden death of my wife, I needed to move to downsize. By God’s grace, I was able to find a smaller place in the same neighborhood. While still grieving, I was also faced with the daunting task of how to move everything. I had trash, electronic waste, documents to shred and although the place I found was fully furnished, I wanted to move some of my items to the new place and give some away to friends in need.
I knew of Darrell and Modern Trends, as he had dispositioned all of the items in my sister-in-law’s mobile home when she passed, but my case was far more complicated. So what did Darrell and his team do? The list is long, but the major items are;
1. Showed up on time. He and his team always showed up when they said they would.
2. Darrell did a walk through and a detailed assessment of all items. My wife had collected several art pieces over the years, and a couple of them were valuable. Darrell did an assessment on the spot of all pieces and told me which were valuable and which ones weren’t. The valuable ones he offered to place online and split the proceeds with me.
3. He moved items I specified from the old house to the new house.
4. He moved wall hangings and then placed them strategically in the new home, using his interior design expertise.
5. He sold me 2 area rugs from his shop at a very reasonable price.
6. He moved very heavy, large pieces that I gave to a friend. He took them to her house, in another city, several miles away.
7. He disposed of the shredding, trash/junk and the electrical waste items.
8. Everyone was kind, compassionate and empathetic with my situation.
9. When his team was done, they left the house completely vacant.
10. Darrell and team were truly a one stop shop for the disposition of everything in the house.
Left to do this on my own, I would’ve needed to coordinate multiple parties and paid a lot more, and experienced considerable more stress and angst. Meeting Darrell was truly a God ordained introduction that I will forever remember and cherish.

This place ROCKS! Super affordable for nice clothing. Nothing has stains or tears. They also have the best music playing at all times. Debbie and Darrel are by far the sweetest people you will ever meet. I highly recommend not just talking to the owners, but shopping at the store! You will not be disappointed!!

Darrell’s modern trends store is pretty cool . I hate going by there because they always get me. . They have such cool stuff n the people there like Debbra n Darrell and Haley are really Awesome. Their selection of things are incredible. I highly recommend everyone to ck it out. Me myself I have 30 plus yrs in retail n these guys are awesome.

Edit to add: owner called me a “hater” for leaving my honest review, so I would like to add that they’re highly unprofessional (I also wasn’t greeted at all when in the store) :) Prices are so high you might as well just buy new. A lot of the stuff looks like odd overstock items that couldn’t be sold. Didn’t see anything nice or special

Bought an area rug from them. I fell in love with the rug right away. I also loved the fact that I purchased the item on a Saturday, and on the same day, I had my rug thrown on my floor. Thank you so much.
