My friend was visiting from out of town who loves thrift stores. We walked about half a mile to get there before they closed and they closed early, rude staff as well. The other time I’ve been there experienced the same attitude

Upon our arrival the staff warmly welcomed us, displaying exceptional friendliness and ensuring that everything was impeccably organized. However, it's worth noting that the dressing room is somewhat makeshift, so be prepared to change in very dimly lit quarters (almost dark) with limited space. Furthermore, if you want to see how your clothes fit, you have to step outside the makeshift dressing room and be in front of other shoppers to look in the mirror. On a positive note, the pricing is quite reasonable, and the overall quality of the clothing left a favorable impression.

We liked the place until we came recently and the old lady that worked there tried to stop us from walking in twenty minutes before closing. We came in and she said they close the register 15 minutes before closing and to come back tomorrow. We live an hour and a half away! If you close at 645, then list that on google so people don’t waste their time driving over. She also didn’t make us feel welcome by asking if my husband had a lit cigarette in his mouth when he was chewing on a licorice stick. Won’t be returning.

Walked in the door the older lady with a horrible curly blonde turned and looked at me directly, I said hello, she turned around didn't utter a word. I browse and find 2 mugs that I liked. I get to the register she asks if I had a rewards number, I stated no- she didn't bother to explain. She rings up my mugs and sits them on the counter. I asked for a bag she acted as if I could not have one saying I'll show what I have- a huge pink bag- that's perfect I think. She puts the mugs in the bag with an attitude. I say thank you she doesn't say a word.As a first time shopper to this very nice LGBTQ+ safe space I didn't feel very welcomed and will probably never return. Moral if you can't get the customer what they need within reason and be friendly to ALL you probably shouldn't work in customer facing customer service. Do better Teri- the right customer can change your life!

Loved this store OMG! I found two dresses for a total of $2 and couldn't believe it! They have a ton of stock and it made for a fun trip to look through it all. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was amazing! I'm definitely going to become a regular here.

The staff was very friendly and I loved the selection of items. Wish there were changing rooms or something but a very nice and cool store.

Shouldn’t call themselves a thrift store. More like a resale shop. Overpriced

I have a gripe with their selection but oh my god, they charge ACTUAL thrift store prices.

I have to admit, walking in and seeing a pair of Madewell jeans for $28 was a little off-putting. At a thrift store? Yikes!! After that, I had my guard up, but, little by little, Out of the Closet drew me in, and before I knew it, I was walking out of there with 5 dresses/rompers for $30! Prices: I will admit, the rack with the designer clothes at the front of the store is a bit pricey-- don't let that deter you. And, regular prices around the store are a little higher (i.e. skirts around $7-8, dresses around $12-$15) than you'll find at other thrift stores . However, it's all about the discounts!Discounts: Toward the back of the store, there's a rack or two with clothes that have discounted tags. This is where the treasure is! I only shopped off this rack. There were lots of trendy options to choose from.Quality: The clothes here were good quality. It seemed like it was a bit more "curated" than other thrift stores (think Buffalo Exchange). The selection was a bit smaller than other places, but the quality (aka cuteness) was higher. Though there were less clothes, the fact there were more stylish clothes (at least in my opinion) increased the chances I'd find something I liked. Wait, isn't that some kind of math theorem? The Inverse Law of Cute Clothes?Organization: I never walk into a thrift store expecting any form of organization to be present. I feel like you gotta work to earn those deals. Embrace the chaos. Out of the Closet was a whole different realm! The racks were impeccably organized by item type (pants, skirts, etc.), everything was clearly priced. This is totally THE thrift store for people who don't like thrift stores.Dressing Rooms: There's not a super formal dressing room-- just one of those foldy room divider things-- but it served its purpose. You have to walk out of the "dressing room" to get to the mirror. Not as ideal as your own little room with a mirror, but no big deal.Though Out of the Closet and I had a rough start, we soon became fast friends. Would recommend solely based on the discount rack and organization alone!

Update: When you're shopping in the store, you may park in the lot that's directly north of the store! Otherwise, it's street parking, which is always in short supply in this neighborhood.

I used to frequent out of the closet's locations in LA and was excited to check out the SD one today. They have cute stuff but the prices are prohibitively high for secondhand goods. Especially the clothing.

F this place! I was in the area for an appointment and noticed a halloween costume dress in the window. I asked the associate if I could see it to try it on, and he proceeded to tell me that he cannot sell me any of the clothing off the mannequins. He said they rotate the clothing periodically to give it a chance to sell, but that he could not do it at the moment. WTF! Isn't that the point of putting merchandise in windows - to sell it?! He said I could check back later next week to see if it's on the rack. I told him I do not live in the area and I asked why they wouldn't just sell it to me NOW, and he said they would be changing out the clothing on the mannequins everyday if they let people buy them... um WOW! What a waste of time. I call total BS. Never going into that store again!
