It was my second time there and as expected the food was delicious. Even my dish which was modified to omit dairy was impeccable. Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant.
Established in 1987, Piatti offers finely crafted fresh Italian cuisine. The soul of the menu is our housemade pasta that we roll, cut and cook by hand everyday. Offering a fresh take on the neighborhood Italian trattoria, Piatti combines a warm, inviting atmosphere, seamless service and an immersive market experience so you can enjoy Piatti at home. Whether dining in or taking home, Piatti brings friends and family together.
About the restaurant: Although part of a Northern California chain, Piatti has its own homey feel, making it a neighborhood favorite. Kids are welcome and often seen dining at this fun, sometimes raucous La Jolla Shores gathering spot. Staff is well-trained, and even though the menu changes often, they always know the food.Food: Start with the sweetbreads (sautéed with mushrooms, garlic and white wine) or the soft polenta with Gorgonzola, mushrooms and truffle oil. We also recommend the grilled hearts of romaine wrapped with prosciutto. Thin-crust pizzas, with such toppings as fig and pancetta, come out of the wood-burning oven piping hot. Among the pasta dishes, we prefer the house-made ravioli stuffed with ricotta and basil, bathed in a light lemon cream sauce. Comfort food-seekers will enjoy the herb-rubbed rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes or the meatloaf with mushroom gravy. Classic Italian desserts (think tiramisu) are offered, along with warm chocolate bread pudding.
