Huge ImprovementSITREPMy first time back to San Diego since all the Car Rental Companies have been consolidated into one Rental Car Terminal Campus.THE SETUPIt's obviously been the trend at major airports these last 20 years to bring all the rental car agencies together under one roof. Makes for a far far better customer service experience because when one rental car agency may screw you over the reserved rate - or they are out of cars - then you conveniently have all the rental agencies shoulder-to-shoulder that you can then pivot to.BUDGET / AVISMy preference is for Budget and Avis and I like that they are now closer to the airport instead of their standalone office that was a long Tijuana-Bus-Trip away from the airport terminal, so that's a HUGE plus.THE LOWDOWNAn excellent consolidation of car rental services in one convenient location.

Taking like 30 minutes to just get on the shuttle to the rental car center. Is this how it's supposed to be and is it normal? In the future I think I'll just take an Uber. Line is longer than the Cars ride at Disneyland (overstating it but I'm just impatient)Or better yet get a Turo and get into the car at the lot

This is the nicest airport rental car center I've been to. It is clean and well lit. I've never waited long for shuttle service. The only knock I have on this place is the distance from the terminals, which is approximately a 10 minute drive.

I had made a reservation with Thrifty for a car at the time I purchased airfare. However, when we got to the Rental Car Center, there was a line out the door and we had to wait in that line for an hour with only 3 service representatives working the front desk. Unacceptable. Poor management. Here are some suggestions: make a separate line for people with reservations and fully staff the front desk on busy days (it was Labor Day weekend).

Oh wow! This Rental Car Center is pretty awesome. It's its own thing, separate from the San Diego Airport, but works in conjunction with it. First, I like that all of the rental cars are located a short (10 minute) shuttle ride away from the airport. This means that when you get your rental car, you're not competing with airport traffic. So it's a more mellow driving experience, which is appreciated, especially because these are rental cars and we're all just trying to figure out how to drive these new-to-us vehicles. Second, there are lots of clearly marked signs everywhere, so you can easily find your rental car company. Third, they have a system set up here where, after you check in at your rental car company, all you have to do is walk to your designated rental car and open the door. The keys are waiting right inside the car for you. Then you can take your time and learn about your car and get set up. Then you drive to the exit and give your license to the person at the booth. They check it, and off you go. This is probably the most efficient rental car experience that I've ever had, and I love that. There's also art everywhere, created by local Southern California artists, as well as a coffee bar on the ground level, as well as bathrooms. The RCC is a very nice place to rent a car!

Although one the other side of the airport, it is huge. The signs make it mostly clear, minor confusion upon arrival because signs were missed getting off the bus. Return was very simple. Loved the tail lights and side mirrors art work there. So unique!

While the San Diego Car Rental Center promises convenience and efficiency, my recent experience was anything but. To begin with, waiting for the shuttle bus felt interminable. Given San Diego's reputation for stellar service and impeccable logistics, I was frankly shocked by the considerable delay. Many travelers, including myself, had tight schedules, and the lack of punctuality on the center's part was both frustrating and stressful. When the bus finally did arrive, it was noticeably crowded. All in all, the San Diego Car Rental Center seriously needs to reconsider its transportation logistics. Travelers are looking for speed and efficiency, especially when returning rental cars and heading to catch their flights. The center's current system is a letdown and doesn't meet the standards. Give yourself an extra 45 minutes in order to ensure you can catch your flight.

The service here was great the facility was nice and clean . We rented a small compact car when we arrived they upgraded our rental for free which was a bonus. Thank for the great hospitality San Diego ?

I travel to San Diego often and the service provided by the off-site rental car center continues to degrade. If you are traveling into/out of San Diego (especially at popular times) expect very long lines for the shuttles and often rental agencies themselves. I’m all for consolidating the rental car companies into a singular building but it drastically reduces the customer experience, specifically when it comes to wait times. I hope they find a way to improve the shuttle service.

Rented with thrifty. Purchased online via 3rd party app and it was a seamless check in. The lady at the counter made it happen for us when she wasn't sure she had a convertible which I reserved. She got me more then I bargained for without a spike in cost. I appreciated that, it made our trip that much better

I've rented cars from this location multiple times and it' always been fast and reliable. Easy to get around and the staff is great. The shuttle service is also quick and gets you to and from the airport with ease.

Been here many times. Always easy to find Hertz and get my car. The sculptures are definitely modern art. I don't like them. I think that they are stupid and ugly. But someone liked them enough to put them up. ? I guess they are better than a blank wall but not by much. I would rather see a mural of something local. But beautiful things are in the eye of the beholder.

Pick up and drop off was great. I dropped the car off at the wrong lot but they didn't make a big deal and let me off easy. The car however should be retired. 76k + miles, car pulled hard to right and had some very hard miles. Staff has always been great

I have always received the best service here but this particular driver wasn't interested in working hard. I'm 71 years old and if I hadn't tripped on the mat, he would have made me put my own large bag on the bus by myself. He had my husband who is 75 put his own large bag on the bus.

Very convient not far from the airport. If reserved vehicle stick with what you reserved and not accept an upgrade. Fast in and out process. All rental groups under one roof so very nice. Easy drop off as well.
