This resort is a beautiful getaway with all the amenities you want for relaxation and fun. My favorite things about it are the in-room balconies, location on a walking path next to the water and cozy fireplaces active whenever there's a chill. It's not very walkable to other sites/businesses, but that adds to the quiet atmosphere.

Warning!! Not as described on their website! Our family stayed at the Mission Bay Resort a couple weeks ago. We opted for a suite which was NOT worth the price. Immediately upon entering the room was dirty, dust everywhere, hair in the sink and shower, makeup satins and holes on one of the pillow cases. The furnishings are disgusting as you can see from the pictures. Stains on everything to include the lamp, artwork falling apart and wrinkled like it was thrown in the bay and placed back on the wall. They talk about renovations but all the furnishings look as though they are 25+ years old.At the pool there were glass beer bottles around the baby pool for days and clumps of hair floating around with nothing available for the patrons to use in the water to clean it that I could find. Apparently no one polices for trash removal, leaving an unsafe environment. All of the outdoor lounge chairs with cushions are extremely faded and worn.I have stayed at nicer and cleaner Embassy Suites for a fraction of the cost. The only pros were that the food at the restaurants that were opened (the first day only one was opened and the rest of the time only two were opened) was good despite the staff being cold and unfriendly. They all seemed rushed and stressed and there were not that many people there. The location was great. The other patrons I spoke to while there all had similar complaints and felt taken advantage of based off of the value we thought we were getting vs. the reality we walked into. The lady we checked out with didn’t even ask how our stay was….. hospitality is dead here.

The room is very old, and there was a strong musty smell in the room. The bathroom drain is clogged and water keeps accumulating when taking a shower. I came here for a vacation and relaxation but I felt very uncomfortable and really disappointed.

Wow. I loved this place. It would be even better of it were beach front and not just bay front. But wow, it was still so beautiful! I recommend staying in the villa rooms that are right there facing the water. The rooms don't have microwaves. Just a heads up. And the fridge is tiny. I just thought that for such an expensive resort, they would have everything in the rooms. We always need more charging port options besides the beds (everywhere we go - not just here) and that was the case here. We needed more places to hang towels and swim suits too. I'm surprised that beach resorts aren't totally geared up for stuff like that... dealing with water sports aftermath in your hotel room. Anyways...the view was beautiful and it is right by Sea World. It did not take us too long to get to the San Diego zoo as well. There were restaurants nearby to choose from. You can also eat at the resort, but I know it is probably more expensive. There are activities that you can do at the resort but you have to pay extra so just a heads up. Make sure to look into those fun things. We love the pool here! And there are two hot tubs. And we really enjoyed the fire pit in the middle of it all. Parking your car at the resort is not free unless you are a member of AAA. It was cheaper for us to join AAA for a year, than to pay for 3 nights to park our car at the resort. If you are a member of AAA, then they also waive the resort daily fees. The beds seemed a bit small in our room but they did just fine. We needed a rollaway bed. Those are like $30 extra a night. There is a convention room, a spa, a game room, and lots to do. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Such a beautiful place!

Our stay was decent but the best thing I can say about this "resort" is the location is great. I don't think it warrants the advertised 4-star hotel rating; other 4-star hotels I've stayed in are laughably better quality than this. The rooms are felt very dated/worn with only a thin veneer of refresh and smelled of mildew. Our fridge hadn't been cleaned for at least multiple days before we arrived -- leftovers from a prior tenant were very spoiled and stunk up the whole room. Housekeeping quickly cleaned the fridge for us when requested but the smell lingered for our two-night stay. The bathroom was 'meh,' the toilet rattled and shook loudly when flushed (woke folks up at night), and the beds were saggy and uncomfortable. Proximity to the beach was nice but because it's a public beach, we had loud partiers at a bonfire literally 20 feet outside our balcony door one night. My feelings are heavily influenced by the price we paid, which in hindsight feels about twice as expensive as the value we actually received. Overall, it worked for what we needed but I wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed in the garden view 2 queen standard room overlooking the back of the pool.Pros:The concierge coordinator, Katie, was amazing. Went above and beyond to make our little guy’s birthday special and a day to remember. She had a birthday cake and decoration ready for the room upon our arrival. The front staff were polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is located on the lagoon and is conveniently located near downtown. Excellent distance to yummy food locations for delivery. The room had a good working mini fridge that was cold enough to keep our ice pack frozen for three days. The sheets were clean. There was a very big tv. There was a sliding glass door that went out into the grassy area. They also supplied two nice robes and house slippers, which came in handy. The room had a waterproof laminate and a car per rug under the beds.Cons:The room smells like rotting wood which might indicate that was either molding or there was a leak somewhere. The carpet and floors were very dirty. It’s was nasty walking around. The carpet was filthy and looked it was never cleaned as it had plenty of stains and dirt tracking. The house slippers came in very handy as the family refused to walk on the floor with just socks and took turns wearing the slippers around the room. The trash can was the size of a paint can so it filled up very quickly. The coffee maker was a pod style machine but it was not a keurig. It was some other generic brand that my simple mind could not figure out and the instructions were not useful. Luckily I brought my own instant coffee fix for such occasion. No desk or place to really eat your food in the room. I am not sure if this was done on purpose, but the room only provide a small circular (less than 12’) side table and a bed side stand for the clock and smaller lap for the room. This became extremely tricky for us when it came time to have lunch or dinner with food that we had ordered in from other places. With two young rambunctious kiddies, they had to hunch over this tiny little table to eat their food. I felt so bad for them and their poor posture that I helped feed them instead. I never really appreciate a hotel table/writing area until this past weekend. Conclusion: it wouldn’t recommend this place for families who are like ours that prefer to eat in, like clean floors because it’s just plain uncomfortable to walk around in shoes. There are plenty of other nice locations that we will consider staying next time.

First off, the location here is fantastic. It's right on Mission Bay and both the restaurant and the pool area have great views. The grounds are pretty, the rooms are HUGE and the beds are extremely comfy. This place isn't exactly cheap, but we've stayed at similar resorts elsewhere in the US and I would have expected to pay a lot more for this place than what we did.Special mention to the on site Covewood restaurant breakfast/brunch staff. We tried other breakfast places off site but the staff was so nice and the options so tasty that we kept coming back. Good gluten free options too.One minor grumble is you do have to make sure the bar staff are paying attention RE: dietary requirements when you order food. We ordered gluten free and the food that arrived was definitely not gluten free even though the server said it was. Other than that though, excellent.

We had a good time at the hotel, but the remodeled rooms are enhanced Motel 6 rooms and not befitting of a 4 Star hotel. The walls are very thin, and on our day of departure we had a group of adults party outside our room until 3 am. It was frustrating that the hotel permitted this in a family resort. We also ran into some service and billing issues that the front desk wasn’t able or willing to resolve, and the management team didn’t contact us during our stay as we had requested. The hotel is in a great location and has a nice outdoor area, but the rooms and service weren’t what we expected.Rooms: Remodeled but not luxurious. It looked like the upgrade was performed as cheaply as possible and that there was little quality control based on the paint job in our room.Nearby activities: Many activities nearby, including SeaWorld.

We stayed one night, we got a room with a fireplace which is great for kids to roast marshmallows and for the parents to drink wine and have dinner ??? rooms were clean and I loved the design. They have a restaurant in the resort which you can see the ocean and has some fire pits and glass wall to keep warm. We went on a Sat and I think we were there around 7pm to watch the sunset and sea world was setting off fireworks ? you can walk along the beach which also has fire pits. There is an outdoor pool which is also great for kids.Rooms: Fire pit right outside the room is perfect for families to roast marshmallowsNearby activities: Walking on the beach and has fire pits that can be reserved on the beachFood & drinks: Great restaurant Covewood I ordered the Cioppino which was delicious ?

I’ve stayed in many hotels over the last two decades but this is the only one I recall where I didn’t feel safe.?4 San Diego squad cars were parked in front investigating a matter on my first afternoon.?Someone tried to illegally enter my room from the adjoining room on the first evening.?The room’s front door was busted and jammed, maybe from someone trying to break in??And when I asked reception how to turn off the bright balcony light at night, they said it couldn’t be turned off for security reasons!! I was in the 7th floor. I asked if there had been balcony break ins on the 7th and 8th floors and all the gentleman could say was “not on his shift”.?The hotel fixed the jammed front room door but never bothered to clean all the door shavings and neither did housekeeping.?I didn’t receive a bar of soap for my bathroom sink until my last night?Coffee capsules were not always replenished.?The gym water machine had no water? The gym hand sanitizing matching had no sanitizer? First “resort” I’ve stayed at where room slippers are not supplied?Shower head was broken and squirted as much water to the wall as to me; at least they were prompt about fixing that cleanly➕Pool was nice, jacuzzi was okay, view was terrific, restaurants were pleasant, and nightly music by the bar was a nice touch.➕Conference food was quite good.Overall, felt like an extra mediocre “resort” especially with a daily resort fee charge of $50.

This was one of the best vacations I've been on and what a great place to stay! The staff was great their food was wonderful and the overall environment was so relaxing. You're close to SeaWorld so you get to see the firework show every night! There is a separate parking fee but the lot is secure so it's worth it. Also when you rent a towel you have to swipe again before you return it, I say this because the instructions don't specify. It was so much fun my son forgot all about his tablet. They kindly mailed it back to us when we returned home. Amazing place to stay!

The resort is nice place to host a wedding. There were several weddings that took place while we were there for a birthday celebration. The rooms were nice and spacious. The staff was amazing and polite no complaints here. The pool (i feel) could have been cleaned better, there was this filmy type of substance around the pool that was a little unsettling. The restaurants on the property were reasonable and the food was decent. The resort was larger, so walk to some of the rooms was longer than we liked, but it wasn't unmanageable. Great location, roughly 10 minutes to Belmont Park and the beach, it was 5 minutes from Sea World (you can see it from the resort) and the airport was less than 10 minutes away. Great location!

I stayed at Mission Bay Resort for 3 nights with my toddler. The rooms and facilities are really nice. The location is ideal for kids in that there are about 3 playgrounds walking distance. You do have to drive to get food outside of the hotel though. However, I have to say I was less than pleased with the service. There were multiple instances where the staff lacked common sense. For example, there was no elevator to my room yet the bellhop never mentioned this when he delivered the stroller to my room. We were waiting for towels by the pool and I inquired about food service and how to order. The person said there would be people walking around. I wait and make eye contact and hand gesture to one server and he never comes back. Later I find out that food service had already ended. This is information the initial towel person could've told me or the server who acknowledged me could have come back to tell me. There were many of these little lack of common sense incidents during our trip.
