From San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History Museum (The Nat) in San Diego's Balboa Park features the natural history and unique biodiversity of Southern California and Baja California. The Nat has five floors of exhibitions, a giant screen theater, and San Diego’s only Foucault pendulum. Through its permanent collection, special exhibitions, numerous educational programs, and the opportunity to see scientists at work, we seek to foster in visitors of all ages a lifelong love of learning about nature and the environment. Founded in 1874 by a small group of citizen scientists, the Museum is also still an active research facility for Southern California and the Baja California Peninsula.
