The manager at this location, Imelda Gemoto Quimpo is fantastic! I came in with an unusual request for assistance, helping out a CU member now in Belize. Imelda listened carefully and we worked together over a period of days trying to get things working. I ultimately had to refer my friend to the official SDCCU Technical Support line, but Imelda did everything she could up to that point. A really sweet nice person, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating.

Avoid SDCCU - they refused to fix fraudulent charges even with proofavoid at all costs! Do NOT bank with SDCCU! If you can go to any other credit union do so! I had my card stolen back in 2017 and used in a completely different city than where I live - and in the middle of the week while I was at work. I have tried to fight this every single year since then, and ended up just paying the charge off to see if it would help. After that they kept refusing a pay for delete on my credit report. I have sent proof multiple times that the charge wasn't me and that I wasn't even physically near where the charge was made and they keep denying everything! This charge was made at a bar in LA on a Wednesday in September 2017, which I didn’t do because I had never been to that bar and I worked second shift in San Diego on weekdays (didn’t get off until 1am) throughout 2017. I provided proof like hardware test reports and my time card statements from that week to show that I was at work in San Diego and couldn’t have made it up there. I even tried getting in contact with the bar but no one responded and I’m sure they wouldn’t be able to provide proof I wasn’t there anyways. It's so hard to talk to anyone at SDCCU and they kept sending me to different people to talk to. I've emailed, called, and visited different branches but no luck at all. I’ve even filed a police report for card theft and SDCCU ignored it. I ended up emailing the CEO with disputes and proof because I can’t get anywhere with anyone, all they say is “sorry can’t help you” even when I explain that I can give them proof and try to show it!Do NOT use SDCCU if you want to bank with a reasonable organization!!!

I went to the branch in Poway to open an savings account for my social security check. They wanted to do a hard credit check and I pay them 26.00 to open an account. Since when do I have to pay to open an savings account and for them to use my money? There is other institutions that would be more then happy for me to open an account with them.

AVOID! Seriously! Do NOT believe that they are "San Diego's Best Credit Union." It's still like kids are playing bank at SDCCU. 10 years ago I transferred my business and personal checking accounts to SDCCU. That was a trainwreck -- the ATM in Carlsbad didn't even accept deposits, and finally they asked me to always come in to deposit my business checks. The debit card was poorly embossed and would get rejected as a fake. The computer system was often down. And somebody cloned my debit card -- even though I'd only used it at the Carlsbad ATM. They also would charge overdraft fees when there wasn't an overdraft, leading to me having to confront them in-branch, and a class action lawsuit settlement that cost SDCCU millions. I was more than happy to pay Chase to give decent, modern, trustworthy service and transferred my accounts out. 5 years ago I reluctantly refinanced my home with SDCCU. The kids were still playing bank: the refi took almost 90 days of redundant phone calls and completely unnecessary paperwork. Got a 2.75% rate, but also lost hours of my life that I'll never get back. I thought by now they'd have their act together. I was wrong. I'd applied for a SDCCU Visa online because it had a good rate. The site indicated I was instantly approved and I received an email stating "Congratulations! You're approved for a SDCCU Visa Platinum with Cash Rewards credit card with a $xxxxx limit and 9.99% APR on purchases. Take advantage of your approval today!" Seemed promising. But the kids are still playing bank. I've had to deal with several calls and emails about my "approved" credit over the past few days. These include: 1) Requesting a copy of my drivers license 2) Asking which credit card I had applied for because online application system appeared to have not reported which. 3) Getting a call saying oh sorry, that's a mistake, your interest rate is actually 12.99% 4) Getting a call saying that they didn't have my current address in their system (even though I applied using it and any credit report will verify it), and that the caller couldn't update it. 5) Being on the phone and on hold for over 28min at this time just to update my address and get online access... which gives me ample time to write a Yelp review about my mistake of getting involved with this credit union again. Supposedly the card is coming in 7-10 days, as was promised after surprises #2 and #3 were resolved. Any more silly follow-up calls from them and they can just cancel the whole thing...this card isn't worth it at all. SDCCU needs to stop spending money on getting people to vote for them in that silly Union Tribune annual survey. They need to stop spending money on advertising and stadium naming rights. Instead, they need to dump those millions into becoming a reputable financial institution.

I absolutely hate this credit union! Have had them for years but this is the straw that broke the camels back. No wonder everyone switches to mission fed! I called to get my account unlocked that has been locked for a week. The representative stated I got my beneficiary incorrect, so she locked my accounts further! I was speaking and trying to explain why I couldn't get to a branch and she cut me off trying to LECTURE me. I was placed on a LONG hold had to disconnect the call. Called again! Alonzo tried to assist me there was no use my account is fully locked now I'm going to have to lose time at my bank to go into the bank physically and get this resolved all because BRENDA from the call center interrupted me while talking and locked my account the worst member services I have experienced from sdccu

The staff is super friendly. You will get the best banking experience. Near to lot of offices here. From my experience, I bet you will get the best loan rates. There is a free gift for first check-in... Few goodies.
