This is actually a 4.75 Star Review. We thoroughly enjoyed our first and recent stay at hotel. Most of the hotel staff are friendly and helpful, they are the heart of the hotel!

Don't get too swayed by the outside appearance of the hotel. The outside look is not fantastic, but it offers amazing views at a great price. It is not perfect, but the beds were comfortable. The water was hot, perhaps too much. The microwave and fridge are in the sink and dressing area. The microwave covers and uses one of the outlets in the area. It would be nice to have more accessible outlets. The bathroom fan does not have a switch, and I did not hear it running or see any effects that it was working. The shower seemed to have a lingering algae smell. The curtains have a plastic retainer to keep them from blowing in the AC breeze. The patio balcony door is hard to slide at times. We heard neighbors whopping and hollering one night. White noise from our phone helped. The pool and hot tub are great. It is important to note that harbor renters are able to use the pool and hot tub. The view, pool, hot tub, and restaurantmake it worth it.

Great hotel, many rooms have back patios that overlook a marina. We has a nice room, staff so friendly and the hotel restaurant had very good food and drinks.Rooms: The room we had was a nice size with refrigerator and microwaveNearby activities: Cabrillo Monument is not far.Walkability: Fairly pedestrian friendly. Beachside park in front of hotel with paved path, picnic tablesFood & drinks: A few restaurants with in walking distance. The restaurant ob the hotel premises was very good, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and also had a happy hour.Noteworthy details: Hotel right on a marina.

The hotel staff are very nice. The manager made our stay really special with a great deal on our room upgrade. It's an older place, so expect to hear your neighbours. The rooms have a very practical, holiday inn express business motif. Otherwise, the location is really nice. Shelter island has a walking trail and green space. There are also a couple of restaurants within east reach. Please note, rooms on the first floor with a bay view, have to look past the parking lot, so not much of a view.

The location is awesome and the view is fantastic but we had to cancel our reservation minutes after checking in as the washroom was old and smelly. The furniture in the room seemed like it was upgraded but the room itself is too old.Appreciate that the staff was considering and helping with our decisionRooms: Old and smelly

The staff is incredible, and the service is 5+ stars. I held my Navy ship reunion here in 2022, and everybody had nothing but great things to say. I'm lucky enough to live local, so I visit regularly just for drinks. Oh, and you can't beat their view from Shelter Island.

I spent a week at this hotel. The environment was always mellow. The staff and patrons are all respectful. I even enjoyed chatting with the security staff. Everything about my time in San Diego was better because I had this hotel to go home to in the evenings. I would certainly stay here again.Rooms: The room was arranged so comfortably. Everything was perfectly cleaned as well. I was impressed.

Honest review as a solo trip! I booked the cheapest room available - Standard Room, 1 King Bed, Patio, Ground Floor.Service: always helpful and friendly, every staff I encountered!Room: the room was very large and cleaned well although outdated bathroom for sure. It was ready upon arrival. My view overlooked the front parking lot, but the bay was there and provided light. The balcony is shared which is weird and at times made me uncomfortable as a solo traveler and the large glass sliding door. The bed and pillows were comfortable and firm (but not everyone may appreciate that). The heat worked well and I kept it on often because in the evening at night you could hear neighbors talking or the TV easily otherwise. Pictures online showed rooms with no carpet but ours did have carpet. It didn't have any stains though. We did notice walking by some rooms being cleaned some had hard floors and no carpet. There is a mini fridge, microwave and coffee set and ample closet and storage space, desk, large chair and ottoman. The bathtub/shower combo didn't always drain properly when we were showering but the water was hot. Needs updated bathroom & tub (even though it was clean). The room door was hard to shut. All the room doors and bathroom doors are old wood doors.Location: This hotel is on Shelter Island which is safe, fun and great views. The hotel has a great view of the bay and the marina! Great area to walk across the street along the bay. It is very clean, safe and beautiful. Lots of fresh and fun restaurants walkable although coffee is a very short drive away. The food we did get at the restaurant (breakfast mostly) tasted good and larger portions.Parking: while there is parking both upstairs and downstairs garage is ample, the spaces are very tight!Property itself was cleaned but needs updates as it is much more weathered then photos show, although they are not misleading, just the natural progression of things. I think in the evenings, I would hate to stay near the lobby/restaurant as it can get loud. Overall I am giving it 4 stars (but a 3.5 star hotel) because it was comfortable, safe and great location. I would return!

overview (room 207)The room was very large and clean. It was ready upon arrival. We paid for a 2nd fl bay view; however, we received a room with a VERY small, unusable balcony. Barely two chairs could fit on it and the AC unit took up most of the space. There was alot of landscaping in front of the balcony so we could only see a very small side view of the bay. It did make the room feel more private and since we were not in the room very much during the day, we did not ask for a different room with a better balcony and view. Because of the size of the room, it felt fairly quiet. Pictures online showed rooms with no carpet but ours did have carpet. It didn't have any stains though. We did notice walking by some rooms being cleaned some had hard floors and no carpet. There is a separate changing room which was convenient but a bit awkward with the placement of the small microwave and outlet. Our bathtub/shower combo didn't drain properly when we were showering but the water was hot and had good water pressure. Good flushing toilet too. A few suggestions: 1- add more outlets, especially in the dressing area. 2- change the doors throughout the property. All the room doors and bathroom doors are old wood doors. They may be what is causing a slight odor and make the property look dated. 3- add a working fan to the bathroom 4- for how large the room was, there was only one small sitting chair. Adding another chair or small table or small couch would be helpful. This hotel is on Shelter Island which is great! The hotel itself doesn't have much outdoor area but across the street is a wonderful walking sidewalk along the bay. It is very clean, safe and beautiful. There is a little hidden gem on the fishing pier with a spot that has local brews, homemade sausage and snacks. There isn't anywhere convenient to grab a coffee or breakfast though other than the hotel restaurant. The food we did get at the restaurant (breakfast mostly) tasted good and good portions. And when we stopped for a drink, Dan the bartender was super friendly. The parking was tight but since we were there during January, there wasn't that many cars so didn't have an issue in the small parking spaces in the garage during our stay.Staff for the most part was friendly. Overall, we had a good stay. We would definitely keep this property as an option to stay again!

For the price you can't beat it. Views of the water from almost every room. The staff here is so gosh darn friendly it's awesome. Give me island vibes. Sau was great and went above and beyond to accommodate us. He really added to our experience. The employees here really make the hotel great and add a warm vibe that most hotels don't have. Hotel was clean and nice. Will be coming back again :)
