Excellent hotel!! Very nice staff and the layout is great. Only complaint is that they put us in a room with a connecting door to the other room which you could HEAR VOICES TALKING next door. That was not ok whatsoever. Also the loud lobby beat/music is highly annoying!!Valet parking is about $60 per day.Rooms: Not very large rooms.

Great spot for work or family visit to area. The restaurant is tasty, stylish, and efficient . Juan is a supurb waiter. The lobby has nice nooks and crannies for reading or meeting, or sipping. Lots of other restaurants nearby.

Super friendly staff and service was awesome both in the hotel and at their restaurant, Bronze Bird and To Go coffee stand. Rooms could use a refresh though. Shower leaks and has low water pressure. Location was excellent.

The $25 a night "resort fee" is ridiculous. The hotel is in the middle of downtown San Diego and doesn't even have a swimming pool! It's difficult not to perceive it as a deceptive practice to disguise the true room rates and make comparison shopping more difficult. Valet parking was a bit awkward when arriving. Afterwards, it was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised to find my car waiting out front when I checked out, without having to phone the valet, because I told the valet what time I planned to leave during my final turn in of the car. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. My room was clean but a bit dated. The cut off valve for diverting water to the shower head needs to be replaced. Very disappointing that the bar closes at 11:30pm.

Rose is an amazing concierge, the location is nice and surrounded by many eateries that are walkable. The only issue we've had being here is the hot water....but there are also several conferences happening at the same time in the hotel.

I would have liked to give the Westin San Diego Gaslamp more stars because of the friendly restaurant service at breakfast, and at the bar, and the friendly housekeeper. I would have liked to look away from the VERY NOISY air-conditioner (even when we tried to turn it down/off), and the sink and bathtub faucets that only did two temperatures (very hot or cold, nothing in between). But what put things over the edge was when I called at the end of an expensive five-day stay to ask about the check-out time, and was told it was 11am. In my experience (I have stayed at a lot of Marriott properties) Noon is more the norm for a higher-end hotel, and I pointed this out only to be told very curtly that “11am is standard”. At this point (and perhaps I have been spoiled by the superior service at other properties) I would have expected to be offered a slight extension if I needed it, but the offer did not come (I would have liked 30 minutes). So I asked if that was an option, and the reply was “well we can only do that if you …” at which point I felt unwelcome and could not get out of there fast enough.

Wonderful stay! Many thanks especially to Nadine who went beyond herself to help us printing a voucher that we urgently needed. THANK YOU, NADINE!!

The Valet is an all star. Probably the best valet I’ve ever encountered. If you’re wondering why? Why is this guy opening with this line about how stellar the valet is? All I can say is they helped my wife when she needed it, and they were prompt. Rooms are good. Service great. Location…it’s freaking San Diego, but downtown San Diego; so you get that downtown vibe. To close, Valet 11 stars.

The restaurants inside the Westin were absolutely amazing! Hot honey pizza and the pork belly tacos were 5+ stars!!!! Both are the best things on the menu (per me and the bartenders there).

I struggle to reason why this hotel selected this type of glass paneling for their showers? It is meant to hold a towel in place but in the time period of a 5 minute shower, the floor became soaked. Otherwise nice hotel.

Good location. Ok rooms. Cleanliness is ok. Good service from staff. Good restaurant. Their a la carte morning menu is better quality than the buffet. Be aware that if you don't ask for fresh cracked eggs you get eggs coming out of cartons (vegetarians be aware that there might be animal fat added to eggs coming out of cartons). Poor sound insulation between rooms and windows. Guests that are sensitive to noise won't be happy. I didn't get much sleep during my stay due to noise. Ok hotel.

Our stay was amazingggg!! The service was top tier. Mike the manager was so accommodating. Rob, the bartender, makes theeee best spicy watermelon Margarita!! This location set the the bar really high for every other hotel we visited on our girls trip this month. Thank you all for the local recommendations to visit as well!! We had a blast!

YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!Overall. Nice lobby, only staff that was helpful was the barista. Be careful outside, the hotel has agressive homeless nearby.1. Given a room that was already occupied.... C'mon..... Really... Pretty sure I scared the heck out of a couple.2. No irons (avail on request) and NO... a steamer is not the same.3. Not given my points as an Elite guest.

Update: Our actual stay was much more pleasant. The rooms were clean and the staff were helpful. The location is also fantastic - it is close to restaurants, grocery, and the harbour. We loved being able to walk to most things. With regards to the destination fee. We did end up doing the harbour tour and it was enjoyable. Although we don’t drink, we were able to use our daily drink tickets for Starbucks in the morning. The complimentary water and wifi is also great. If you are able to make use of the amenities, the resort fee is very reasonable.________________We have an upcoming reservation for 3 nights which we were super excited for. To plan ahead, I reached out to the hotel to inquire about a few details that were not explicit on the website, however, it took multiple attempts to reach someone. The hotel has a mandatory $25 per night amenity fee, which we were aware of at booking and did not mind. However, after receiving more information, I realized that we were not made aware of the many limitations and restrictions. I am traveling with young children and we would not be able to participate in many of the amenities (kayaking, biking, etc.) that are provided. The hotel staff was not able to confirm if they had equipment suitable for children, nor did they direct me to anyone that could.Despite it not being indicated on the website or anywhere for that matter, I was also informed that we would only be given 2 harbour tour tickets, even though our booking was for 4 people and we are staying 3 nights. Note that you would receive 2 tickets even if you stayed 1 night. My husband and I also do not drink so we would not be able to make use of those perks either. Many of these details would have been helpful to have on the website beforehand. With this new information, I likely would have booked with a more family friendly hotel. Even the pool is not kid friendly at 4-5 metres deep and no floatation devices provided. The interaction with the hotel staff was not very helpful either. For a hotel of this caliber I expected more in terms of service. There was a lack of resolution, empathy, and desire to help.Given the reviews, I’m sure that it may be great for adults, but perhaps not so much for young families.

I booked a room for my sister for her and her friends for her birthday and she had a wonderful experience. Thank you to the team and general manager for their attention to detail, great communications setting everything up and for overall making her feel special and welcomed at the hotel in my absence. :-) 5/5
