Highly recommend. Staff here is super helpful. I came here to figure out a solution to widen a hole in a metal door. The guy I talked with walked me through different options and ways to go about it. The end solution was wayyyy easier than what I would've done without talking to them

I dropped off my Dewalt scroll saw and left instructions - clean, calibrate, adjust, check motor bushings and install any missing parts. I also asked that I be informed of the cost before the work was completed. Four weeks later, hearing nothing, I called. I was told that a part needed to be ordered, hence the delay. Ten days later, I received a call saying the saw was ready for pick up. Not receiving a prior quotation (which the receipt clearly stated), I asked the price and was told $60, which seemed reasonable. I picked up the saw and on my return, after inspecting, the only thing they did was attach a new air hose. The entire hold-down assembly was missing. I called and asked why. Jeff told me the tech forgot it. I ordered the part over the phone and since I live 20 miles from the Depot, I asked that it be mailed. Another 2 weeks, I received the part and was charged for shipping. I called Jeff and asked why I was being charged shipping for a Tool Depot mistake. After a short back and forth, I hear a click. He hung up on me. The company did not follow my instructions, took nearly 2 months to get it back, and I still have an a tool that can't be used. But the rudeness of Jeff was appalling.

Most customers rather go to 'BIG' name brand hardware stores but under value and under estimate the local stores.Tool Depot is definitely a hidden gem. Staff is very helpful and polite, gives 'Local Shop' vibes. Came a long way from when it started.Highly recommended!

I needed a Porter Cable sander part. NO ONE in San Diego has it but Bob. I could order it from several places online and the price ran from $3 to $12 and would take a couple of days at the fastest. I drove down to see bob on a Thursday afternoon during rush hour (thank you Google maps!) and the trip was easy and reasonably quick. His dogs were at first an issue because I had 4 in my car and I did not want them to start "talking" to each other. His big dog wasn't sure of me at first and walked back into the store. Next thing I know the dog has "nosed" the back of my leg (a very accepting sign) and he brought me a toy to play tug. Then we were besties! Great dogs and super friendly.Back to the part I came for. So Bob gets the belt I needed (Who knew a random orbital had a belt in it anyway?) and it was ... $3. I would be happy at $6 or even more because I needed it now and he has it. I actually offered more and he wouldn't have it.You can go to all of the usual stores in San Diego and buy these tools. But when you need help NONE of them can help you. Yes, I called and asked for the part by number and all they could do was refer you to other stores that could not help either. Will I go back to see Bob again? Absolutely. He doesn't put up with nonsense or guff. Other reviewers may have brought junk that could not be repaired; I don;t know. But this is one straight forward nice guy who wants nothing more than to help you and he charges a really reasonable price. Truth be told he offers a rare and hard to find service and ought to get more. I am a fan and will be a repeat customer.

Bob's dogs have attacked me twice while entering the junk yard known as tool depot. Today Bob threatened me fiscally after his dog attacked me again, I am 60 years old and 5'6" and did nothing for that threating behavior from Bob the owner of tool depot. I own another business in the midway district and would never behave like Bob( its just wrong). The used equipment is over priced and are of a dubious sort.Like I said it's a junk yard .

Complete j**** Refused to give an estimate for a table saw repair and when I asked for it back he had the nerve to bring it out and drop it on the ground in front of me. No worries, I can afford to buy a new one. Can they afford to keep losing customers? I have steered away at least 10 so far, and will keep doing so.

Sharpening service, tool repairs, replacement parts and many common ones on site. By all means support this business because they are few and much needed for working professionals and home craftsman alike. Don't bother asking questions of Home Depot and Lowes tool department because they are idiots. Tool Depot rules them all.

A horrible experience. I took 5 Hitachi NR83 nail guns in for repairs and only one was repaired properly. 1 put of 5 is not very good. I won't be going there for anything any more.

This store should not advertise sharpening. They told me that they do not sharpen knives or many common garden tools (lopers, shears, etc.)
