Dropped off our rental car on May 5. I spoke with Miguel over the phone and he was great. He stayed on the phone with me the entire time I was trying to navigate to get the the drop off parking garage. Super easy, in/out in a few min. Friendly staff.

Their garage is not clearly marked. I ended up going around the block twice before I pulled over and tried to contact someone. I am now late and have the car for another night. My next step is to get my credit card company to reverse the charge. Fun. From pickup to the now postponed drop-off, the whole experience with Alamo is weak. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Alamo, National, and Drive Alliance. Edit: I didn't get charged extra. Miguel was very understanding and made my life easy. Traveling is stressful, and the SF streets did no favors. Besides my ire of being late charged, the remediation is what made me change my review

Horrible horrible horrible experience. I booked online at alamo.com to pickup a car at this location. I get there and I'm told there are NO cars available. How is that possible if I was able to book online? The manager is extremely callous and unconcerned about the situation. They tell me to go to the Ellis street Alamo location which is a 25 minute walk away. I ask them to confirm with the Ellis branch whether they have a car. The manager confidently tells me to go there, they are open for the next hour, and have plenty of cars. I rush to the Ellis location and am met by the security guard at the garage. I ask him to get the manager and am told they have closed. The manager there is just as flippant and tells me he's not sure why I was sent here by the Folsom street branch. Can this car company be any more callous? Not one word of apology. I'll be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau.

I've been renting from the crew here for over 4 years and I love giving them my business. I always get the right price on the right car, right on time. They even pick me up from home, which is almost always. The entire renting and returning process is painless and seamless. I tell my friends and family not to rent from big, impersonal agencies but become a member of the "family" at Alamo Rent A Car. They will provide better prices and service, so why not??? I'm a lifer.

It was a bloody nightmare. After 100 miles the engine warning light went on. We called the roadside assistance. During 3 Days and about 3 hours of time on the phone they were not able to organize a exchange car. We were forced to drive about 350 miles trough death valley with a „damaged“ engine. Let‘s see if the folks in Las Vegas are able to exchange the car.Additonal: very long waiting on the line.Positive: People in the call center were friendly but could not help.

We had a reservation for a full-size car, so that we could comfortably drive down the coast from San Francisco to LA over the next 7 days. We called them in the morning to let them know when we'd pick up the car (early afternoon). When we arrived via Uber with our kids and all our luggage, they said they no longer had any full-size cars so they downgraded us to a compact car. They said they were not able to credit us the difference in rates, and that it didn't matter that we made the reservation several months ago. The best they could do was give us a free tank of gas for the 1 week rental. My main problem with them is not that they ran out of cars, it's that they didn't have the courtesy to contact us earlier to let us know what the problem was. We could have easily Uber-ed to another location that had cars. Once we arrived, we we really had no practical option but to accept their downgrade. Oh, and they couldn't give us an upgrade because someone else had already "reserved" that car. I guess reservations are only honored for some customers. Update: Alamo has asked me to contact customer care. I will do that as soon as I have the final charges.

They were helpful and nice, but definitely need better instructions on their contract regarding return location, e.g. a little map how to enter the back garage, the address on the contract simply gets you to the front of the store and the instructions at the front window isn't that helpful

Shouldn't take 45 mins to pick up your car that you reserved online. Understand somewhat but there are more efficient ways

This was my first time renting a car with Alamo and I would like to share my positive experience with their exemplary customer service. I picked up my initial car at the Alamo at SFO. Friday afternoon comes around, I met up with my friend for brunch at Mission District. Upon getting to my car, my friend was going to the back seat. She hesitated and as I turn around I saw that the seat was down exposing the trunk. Turned my head to the left a little and noticed the small window was shattered. I rented the car with my Chase credit card points and knew my card covered rental damages. Called Chase to file my claim. Called Alamo and spoke to a representative who was very apologetic and accommodating. She referred me to the closest Alamo to switch out the car. Upon arrival, the man who was helping me made the process very smooth. Apparently this happens a lot in SF. Funny thing is that there was nothing in the car. I assumed they broke in because they saw I had a Nevada plate. He took down my claim number and I was on my way with a new car. The return and exchange process with Alamo is super relaxed and I will definitely be doing business with them the next time I need a car.

It was a little hard to get to place were you can return your car. The entry to the parking is from the 3th Street, you have to take the ticket for parking (on the enter there is no alamo logo or any information how to enter) and then follow the signs. When you gat to a car wash there should be an employee that will get car from you. Besides this one problem everything was ok and the crew was nice.
