What a nightmare working with this bank has been. Their online portal is abysmal, their branch hours are inconvenient, and doing business with them is way too complicated. Not sure why anyone would bank with them.

I lived for many years in New York City and this bank is the bank that was made to be union friendly. In addition, they have branches that are located near middle-income housing developments. BANK, BORROW, INVEST, LEARN is found on their webpage under personal banking. It is true to its word. The information that they offer is sound and generally timeless. It is also written in easy-to-understand English. It is not a bank that has lots of branches so if you are looking for a Starbucks type bank, then this wouldn't be the one for you. It does, however, have affiliation with the surcharge-free ATM Allpoint+ and they seem to be everywhere. The bank offers online banking, mobile banking, free bill pay service, and checking accounts with no minimum balance. I continue to use this bank because I am a union representative of the American Federation of Government Employees. My union's PAC (Political Action Committee) uses the Amalgamated Bank for its contributions. I was EXTREMELY HAPPY to see that choice since the Amalgamated Bank is pro-UNION. If you are able to stop by a branch, I would strongly recommend having this bank as one of your choices for your financial well-being.

The person above is delusional. Multiple folks at my branch are beyond great and their investments are far better than any other bank investing in the stuff that pollutes our kids' lungs and accelerate all the other negative things happening. They are the bright beacon - money is the only thing that talks so stop complaing on social media and DO SOMETHING that will actually make change - placement of where money resides. Love Amalgamated!!

This was our bank for 11+ years, so what I say here is very considered and deliberate. We joined near the beginning on the promise our money would be invested in solar etc. Don’t believe their marketing. Their policies are horrible and designed solely for their benefit. They are just another huge, greedy, mean, and disrespectful bank. Or that is certainly the slippery slope they started down on as the years went on, which quickly turned into nothing more than a downward slide. The number of times that we saw these—in theory—more ethical bankers, screw over the little guy and engage in dysfunctional, inappropriate, and petty interactions...
