I just had a very disappointing experience at this BevMo location due to the rude behavior of one of the managers. I was simply trying to check out with one bottle of wine—there were still customers shopping and a line at the register—when the manager abruptly shouted to me, “Hey, my store is closed, you have to go!” There was no courtesy or professionalism, just unnecessary hostility. I understand closing time needs to be respected, but there are much better ways to communicate that. This kind of attitude makes customers feel unwelcome and disrespected.

Updating: I still look back on my experience and the lack of company response to having one minority person on the register the day before a major U.S. holiday. I will never go to BevMo again, and will spend my money elsewhere. I will let everyone I know my experience and why they should spend elsewhere. Years later I’m reminded of how I spent over a half hour in line for checkout by an overworked employee the day before Thanksgiving. The company culture must be brutal.

I've just encountered a very rude sales associate at the Van Ness location. I frequent Bevmo every 2-3 months. I was buying a liter of Campari and grapefruit soda. The associate: Jon said I need your ID to scan. He didn't say to verify. I declined the scan as I have before and I usually show my ID. He then became defensive, not sure why. After I said no to the scan he became upset. Now I work in hospitality, luxury hospitality. I myself would NEVER have engaged a client/customer they way he did. His approach was unprofessional, unfriendly and uncalled for. All I can think about is his obvious and blatant bias. This is not the first time I've encountered this type of behavior at Bevmo, sad to say. BTW don't think he scanned the ID of the person before me. Staff needs training BADLY.
