Very comfortable and clean. The location is unbeatable to reach all strategic sites and it is a quiet area. Also consider the proximity of restaurants and supermarkets. The attention and explanations received by the receptionist are unbeatable! We would return to Castle Inn without hesitation. Thank you!!

This is a great little hotel in a great spot in San Francisco. On Broadway between Van Ness and Polk gives you public transportation to anywhere. The front desk is incredibly helpful. It's clean, well and logically appointed and the beds are the best I have slept in.

This was a surprise gem, especially for the price. This hotel is tucked in, in such a way, that it is quiet and private, and if you have a room on the 4th floor you even get a bit of a view. The free parking is very secure (important to me as I had a car stolen at a nearby hotel once, and SF is notorious for break-ins). The rooms have been updated (but apparently the photos have not, so at this writing it is much better in person). Great location, within walking distance to restaurants, coffee and attractions. If they allowed my dog, I would be a regular visitor.

I like how the hotel staff accommodated w/ our request for a quiet room (away from foot traffic/other guest) because we were traveling w/ 2 young children. The room was clean & was properly stocked w/ sufficient numbers of towels/shampoo/soap. Truly appreciate that the hotel didn't overbook # of rooms/guests & therefore, the parking on site was available to us (this is critically important in SF). The hotel was also conveniently located in the city. Over all, I recommend the hotel!Safety: Located in a safe neighborhood that's easily accessible to many shops & bus lines.

UPDATE: due to Castle Inn middle aged shaved head nightclerk’s inappropriate behavior and upon reviewing the evidence, my company has removed Castle Inn from its hotel options and further reported the incident.I strongly advise not staying at Castle Inn. I have reported their unjust refusal of service and disparate treatment. If you choose to stay here, please be clear on the RISKS:INCIDENT: Upon checkin around 8pm, I reported issues that there was no wifi and the phone line is down, providing photo and video evidence. The nightclerk, communicating only from behind a security window, claimed to have notified the manager but refused to provide a resolution timeline. The nightclerk became hostile and accused me - with no basis - of harassment. The nightclerk then told me “the room phone line being down is a safety issue and so you need to vacate the premises". After instructing me to continue waiting outside in the dark and cold, the nightclerk locked the front desk, ignored me, and proceeded to my room. At this point the nightclerk changed tunes and said that he was the manager. The nightclerk again told me to vacate the premises. I asked “It is nighttime and unsafe outside. All I asked for was to have wifi. Why are you refusing service to me?”; the nightclerk refused to respond. Instead the nightclerk started shouting at me to leave (my travel agent was on the phone line and has this all on recorded call; I also have photo and video proof). I feared for my safety throughout; I remained professional throughout. The nightclerk forced me to leave.Immediately following my leaving the premises, my travel agent called me confirming recording of the incident and expressing concern over the nightclerk’s behavior. The agent mentioned an investigation into issues with terms of service and disparate treatment, highlighting instances of the nightclerk yelling at me and instructing me to leave. The agent said “I heard Castle Inn nightclerk start yelling at you for no reason. I heard him tell you to shut up and stop calling out for help. I heard him tell you to leave. I have it on recording.”

Free parking and security cameras all over the property so I felt safe staying here. The older man and the woman who work in the office were both very kind any time I spoke to them and very polite. Check in was super easy and no-fuss. It's an older building with no real frills but my room was spacious and very clean and they obviously tried to make it cozy. I had noise-cancelling earphones so the street noise didn't bother me much but if you're a light sleeper you may want earplugs just for traffic noise since it's in a busier area. My only recommendation would be that they fix or restock their vending machines - their drink machine was broken altogether and snacks were totally empty except for one bag of Gardettos! But there's plenty of stuff within walking distance and the rooms come with mini fridge, coffee pot and microwave so you can make food in your room or keep drinks!

The whole place is dirty, even wirh mold. The lobby is permanently closed for entrance and the staff only responds through an opening in a window. The staff was also rude.

We stayed two nights. All we needed was a place to sleep and shower as we would be sightseeing most of the time. The rooms were very clean. Housekeeping did a great job. The front desk gentleman was friendly and helpful. The free onsite parking was great. Our car was fine. We left it parked from check-in to check-out. We felt safe the whole time we were there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an inexpensive no frills stay within walking distance to many sights.

Great little gem in Nob Hill.... Very safe, comfortable, clean AND PARKING...walkable to a Walgreens and a couple of pubs and restaurants. It's not fancy but it's a fabulous deal on a sweet little hotel. Front Desk was great about finding us extra pillows when they were in short supply...thanks for a great stay!
