Needed some applewood pellets for my smoker. I called, they told me they stored the pellets away for the season but happy to check to see if they had the applewood. They did and brought up a bag from storage and had it at the counter for me when I came to pick it up. Needed it because I'm making homemade bacon

This is an excellent network and no matter which of their stores I have been to so far, I have almost always found the goods I need and competent, friendly salespeople who have unobtrusively been nearby whenever I have had difficulty finding the goods I need. That is, quite often :) This is a truly excellent level of service. Thank you guys

I went shopping at Cole Hardware at around 4:30pm on June 10th 2023 for 2 Hepa Filters. The store had a 20% off everything sale. An associated guided me to the Hepa Filters, we both saw the price was 16.99. When I came to the register the price was 22.99. I told the associate that the price on the shelf was 16.99. and the associate who helped me came to the register and verified that my statement was true. The associate argued that the SKU numbers were different and the wrong product was in the wrong place. I cited California's law for retail establishments, which is that the price on the shelf has to be honored at the register. I said I believe this is the bait & switch law, intended to protect consumers. The associate tried to disregard what I was saying, but offered to get the manager, I insisted that the manager join us. He gave me the price that was on the shelf, but then he said "nobody ever wants to pay more than the price on the shelf" then he said "I'm so tired of this day" then he said "this customer is just trying to scam us" he continued to say other things that indicated that he was unhappy with the customer and his job. So on the one hand he was being verbally abusive towards a customer, which the reason for my review, and on the other hand he thought that I was trying to scam the store, but if he believed that why did he give me the price on the shelf, and the 20% store wide discount like I requested? I was not trying to scam the store, I was standing up for my consumer rights under the law in California as I am aware of them. I did not deserve to be verbally abused by the Cole Store manager. On the one hand I paid the amount that I wanted to pay, in that sense the store was helpful, but on the other hand a manager ought to vent behind close doors, not infront of the customer to their face. His verbal behavior was not socially correct for someone working in retail in San Francisco or was his behavior correct for someone working in management at Cole Hardware.

I am all praise for Frank, a senior citizen like me.He is thoroughly knowledgeable about the contents of the store and is super helpful.I was amazed by his cooperation. When I told him so, he humbly replied that he was answerable to his God and not only to his wife.He praised the Lord. Americans need to learn a thing or two from him, if not everything.I wish him a good life ahead.

I began going to Cole Hardware after moving to the city because it was close. I had continued to shop there for a few years for 2 reasons. The exceptional customer service the staff provided and their wealth of knowledge. I guess that's a thing of the past. After my visit today, I'm done. I was treated rudely and after 3 attempts at getting help with 3 different store associates, none of which even attempted to help me, I had to just walk out. One would think that their customer service game would be sharp since that's the only thing speaking them from any other. Bad employees like these are a huge part of why the "brick and mortar" stores are disappearing. I encourage the owners to provide some training and/or final to the inadequate help before you lose any more customers. Good luck with the future of your business.

This branch in North Beach is my gold standard for all Customer Service. Don continues to be instrumental in my furnishings of new apartment in Russian Hill when I arrived here from NY a year ago. He educates me and together we have made all the right choices. Especially on the lighting and also restoring my chair. Everyone should mimic their attentiveness, knowledge, and emotional generosity in giving their clients expertise , time and energy.

Hardware stores are underrated and so fun to go just to browse. You will find things that u had no idea would be there and that u need. I'd rather shop n browse here than any mall.

I reviewed this location yesterday giving my honest experience and they somehow got it removed.So, now you know that this location is also able to have actual patrons sincere reviews removedMy experience in this store is always the same.You will be followed and treated as though you are stealing instead of being provided assistance. You will receive nasty and snarky remarks from anyone who you manage to get to assist you, and you will leave feeling like you could have been treated with more respect.A good example… my neighbor and I relayed this experience to a group of friends last night over dinner.We were checking out during Christmas time and I had made a purchase of an ornament the day before. The cashier says to me in an infinitely snotty tone “again”.AGAIN?!? Again?!! You should be so lucky as to have again!I hope they try to have this review removed again so that I can post again on how they treat their customers. It’s really just silly
