Had to move to another storage company due to several issues. The rent increased quite quickly, which was to be expected. However, many of my boxes were destroyed by something like motor oil leaking in from an adjacent unit. Obviously not the fault of mgmt but imo they did not handle it well.
I had to take off some hours of work to move everything before the oil seeped into more of my things. I asked to be refunded for that month (which I thought was fair) and Irene fought me on it and questioned me about how much time I really had to take off work ... I was not in the mood to argue after moving all my stuff. About a week later she did get me a refund though, and I appreciate that.
Then, I followed up a couple times about where the oil was coming from, if it actually was motor oil, etc. so I could write an insurance claim. Management would not provide me any info.
Finally, I was forced to move into a new unit double the size of my original one bc there were no smaller ones available. My rent promptly doubled. :/ Felt like I was being punished for something beyond my control...
