I opened an account at the Fairfax location about a month ago. The new accounts rep was caring as well as knowledgeable. I have been back a few times for various transactions (mostly at the San Rafael location) and found every exchange refreshing. A great alternative to the big banks (where I was for nearly 40 years).

0 stars for bank policy and customer service So I opened a CD at First Federal at their other branch outside of San Francisco. I go to the San Francisco branch since it is closer to home as my CD matured and I wanted to take money out. Not able to find my savings book, I was told that I could not withdraw my money there because I did not have my book, although I had the proper identifications. I was told I had to go back to the branch where I opened the CD to sign an indemnity agreement. So I asked, I can't sign the indemnity agreement here? I have to go back to the branch outside of San Francisco, which is purely out of my way? So being that their headquarters is in San Rafael, does it mean that I would have had to go back to San Rafael to sign the indemnity agreement had I opened an account there? So here I took off early from work for nothing. What a waste of time. Now I have to take off early again to go to the branch where I initially opened the account. I have to admit, though, that the individuals I dealt with were really nice personally at both the branches. The bank policy did not give them any leeway to give me good customer service.
