Raf, Bo, Kai, Lucie, Muna, Millie to name a few of the awesome workers who make Haight street a community. The people who work on deli and fish are amazing and hardworking. The sushi and sandwiches are fresh every day

This Gus is always very fresh food but it is on the pricier side. The deli options are consistent but good and the poke bowl stand is a great option when on the run. Be prepared to dance around and squeeze past people with your basket in the small aisles when it gets busy on weekends, but the check out registers always move thru quickly.

It has been just long enough to forget how angry their gluten free sandwich makes me. The bread disintegrated and I had to eat it with a fork and knife because it just kept falling apart into smaller pieces. There are far better breads out there. Even the Costco GF bread is leaps and bounds better. Not asking for the best GF bread, just one that doesn't completely fall apart. So mad!

Went to get a steak and when I asked for the cut that I would like the guy behind the meat counter just said, "we ain't got that" and smirked at me like I was asking for something irregular. I then asked for a t bone steak and he turned to his friend and laughed in my face like I was asking too much of him. This dude had no respect at all and really hurt my feelings.

I have been enjoying the deli sandwiches for years at this particular location, on Harrison, so it pains me to write this. Like anything else I do expect a few misses now and then but this is the third consecutive time that the sandwiches were a total disappointment. Addressing the latest purchase, The Chelsea, which is considered a hot sandwich, was anything but! Also, the sandwiches are put together in such a way it's close to impossible to eat one using your hands; which forced me to use utensils...as with the other times. However, I must say that Gus's has the BEST selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables of any grocery store in San Francisco. Which is why I still recommend Gus's Community Market.

White guy who was working as a cashier accused me of stealing. When I had a receipt for what I paid for in my pocket. Then proceeds to say he has to deal with it all day as if, that should grant some sort of sympathy. It was an uncomfortable situation that left me dissatisfied with my overall experience. CFC should never profile anyone that comes into the store let alone accuse someone of stealing if they aren't sure of it.

While all snuggled up in my bed watching season 4 of vanderpump in my bed, I kept going back and forth in my head on getting the second half of my seal rock sandwich at 1:12am. The intrusive thoughts won when I waddled from bed to fridge and back again with sandwich in hand.I'm a s***** for olive tapenade and Pepperoncini. The seal rock has that and more- but maybe too much? I ended up removing the cheese from my sando because it was ultimately too salty with the cheddar and pepper jack. And I'm a salty girl!!Overall I'm thankful for this second dinner to chow down on while contemplating the now deceased relationships of tom Sandoval, Arianna, Kristen and of course, James Kennedy.

I found this market after a search for the best 'whipped cream' (love it on my coffee). Whole Foods used to have a great whipped cream but they stopped making it awhile ago, along with many foods that I used to love....including the hot bar - which looks good but tastes like garbage! However, i tried Gus hot foot and there is a limited choice but it's a lot fresher than Whole Foods, so it's going to become my 'go to' place for shopping. I'm not going to Whole Foods any longer!!! Time to try their salad stuff!!

I'm done coming here for the time being because the staff acted like jerks.Let's say you have a peanut allergy - I don't, but my guest today does. One thing the staff of a grocery store can do is have a polite, clear yes or no answer for whether or not their prep areas, stuff, whatever, have peanut allergy whatever. I don't know, I'm not a peanut allergy expert, I'm just a guy, I don't have the allergy!Maybe in the popular imagination there's some Rubicon allergy people cross, and they go from not being able to deal with eating out to being able to deal with eating out. But I do not have a peanut allergy, so I will never cross the Rubicon, I will never master someone else's something something about allergies. I just need a decent answer.Instead the guy behind the deli counter was a j**** He didn't answer the question: he said there's peanuts everywhere, or nowhere, he doesn't know, but he does know, it could be, it's your problem, etc. etc. There's a lot of gesticulation and attitude and get-outta-my-face about a question delivered super politely and succinctly, by maybe one of the nicest people in the world. The guest didn't do anything to deserve a food-service-Subreddit style response. This isn't a restaurant, this is a grocery store. It's not some kind of peanut-based ethnic food. There's nothing holy about the food they make. Like where does Internet Reply Guy draw the line on places that can accommodate people with allergies? In summary, if you're going to read this review and think, "Well allergy people have to worry about their own allergies:" (1) It's a grocery store. If you think grocery stores aren't obligated to deal with food safety questions competently, where exactly do you imagine do people with peanut allergies get food? (2) I do not have the allergy, so I will never master this skill, but I am a payer, so my opinion does matter. (3) Gus's could have been nice about it, and instead they were jerks. Why is the food service guy antagonizing a peanut allergy guy at a grocery store? I don't know.

Tasty sandwiches! My favorite is the BLT sandwich on soft French bread (pictured here), though I haven't had every kind they make. I came around 3pm and there was no line, but I'm sure it gets busier during the lunch rush. I was debating about ordering takeout through DoorDash to save time, but I'm glad I decided to order at the store and wait because it was a couple dollars cheaper.

It was my first time ordering through door dash for lunch. I ordered the Gus's special box lunched. Disappointed in the way they cut my sandwich, who cuts sandwiches like this ? everything was just falling out. It was a good sandwich just wished it was cut better lol.

Today I was looking for cheeses for a cheese plate and asked the person behind the cheese counter for recommendations. Unfortunately I didn't get his name but he came out from behind the counter to give me several suggestions, as well as suggesting the bread, grapes, and meat. It was everything I needed for my party! I often shop at Gus's. It is expensive but local and the quality is much better than that of like Whole Foods, which is nearby.

Five Star Grocery Store. Checks all the boxes for a grocery store and what they should have. I have been going here for about 7 years and it's about time I do a review on my favorite grocery store in SF. 1. Amazing Kind knowledgeable staff, if they don't know the answer they will find a staff person and get u the answer2. Love the Citrus samples here. Must try these3. They cater to the Kiddos, they have mini grocery carts for little kids to push around and give out free lollipops at the end near the end of the register for not just little kids but the big adult kids too4. How are the Poké bowls here the best I have ever ate in SF? Sooo good! I have ate at least 60 Poké bowls here and they serve it everyday only from 11am-3pm.5. Everything I swear can be customized for vegan or vegetarians or a gluten free diet. They will make it happen just ask, they are so helpful6. Their sushi is amazing and tastes better than many restaurants I have gone too. Helen works in the sushi area and has the highest standards I have ever seen of sushi sold in a grocery store and they even do sushi catering and When I served it at a party no one thought the sushi or poke' bowls came from a grocery store7. They do amazing catering and u can pick up on a Sunday and their prices are affordable and cheaper than like places for the same quality of catering (like Bi-rite)8. The chips many times are on sale and cheaper than many other places. Also they are always on top of their chip game and always have the newest chips. I recently got Air fried chips from there! Nom! 9. They have a happy hour here for all the beer drinkers.10. There is a cafe on site and have indoor and outdoor eating! This place is amazing! Just go! It's way more than a grocery store!
