Great staff! I really enjoyed this stay. I was here over Christmas and was treated like a king. The pups loved the room as much as I did. If you’re looking to stay in San Francisco look no further. If you don’t want valet parking us the lot across the street. It will save you some money!Walkability: Great location for walking to the trolley or Union Square.

The hotel is in a perfect location for events. Every December we like to come to the Union Square ice skating rink. There’s a lot food options around and super close to Union Square. The hotel is really pretty once you enter, We chose the standard room king size bed. Our room was really nice with a view of the city. We were in tower 1, which I read is their updated rooms. From the other reviews I was expecting it to be small, but it wasn’t as small as some make it out. It was perfect for our one night stay. Staff were friendly and informative. They let me know about the $25 credit to use for the hotel. And made me aware of the deposit I needed to put down and a resort fee. They also use contact free options to make check out faster through text messages and any other questions you may have throughout your stay. Be aware of parking fee $65-$75/night. We traveled via bart. And we were intimidated by the parking fee, but next time we plan to bring our car next time to venture more in SF.Rooms: Clean, quiet. Although, room 1185 in tower 1, bathroom door doesn’t close all the way. Just a small detailWalkability: Union Square is only several blocks awayFood & drinks: A lot of restaurants in vicinity of the hotel

9/29/23 - Emmy at the front desk went above and beyond for my partner and I. We took a red eye to SF and hadn't slept in over 48 hours. We arrived at 10am and check-in was at 3pm. She was able to get us a room upon arrival and hook us up with a very nice upgrade. She was so amazing, helpful and attentive. Emmy was kind and understanding as well and I felt like all our questions were easily answered. When you're exhausted, stressed and in an unfamiliar with the area, a professional, kind, sweet employee like Emmy is exactly what everyone needs. Give this lady a raise! Thank you Emmy! We love you! <3

I stayed one night at the Hilton Hotel in San Francisco Union Square with some friends, and I thought it was going to be a really nice hotel. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues when we got there. First off, when we were checking in, they warned us that the system for the doors malfunctioned so we had to have someone escort us to make sure we could get into our room (this is can forgive since I know technology can be difficult at times). The Bellboy who escorted us, didn't really look too keen on getting us to our room, but he did. Then, once we reached our room, there was a do not disturb sign on the door which was really weird. The bellboy was also visibly confused so after knocking on the door a couple times and not hearing an answer, he warned who ever could have been there that he was coming in. This is when we found out that the room that was assigned to us was double booked. The room was a mess and there were other people's belongings in there too, so the bellboy had to call the front desk to get us another room. We got another room a couple doors down, but the room had a couple of issues too. The bathroom door was broken so we can only slightly open it, there was a spot on the floor that was sticky, and there was an outlet that wasn't working. When we were checking out, the only thing that they offered was $25 for their little food court area. We weren't going to eat breakfast there so I asked for a discount on the room instead, and they said they would apply the $25 off to the room cost. That didn't end up happening because when I checked my bank statement it was more than what was on the new receipt they gave me.I do want to say that the staff themselves (for the most part) were very kind, but I don't think this is enough for me to want to stay at this hotel again.

I took a star off for several reasons.1. Beds are horrible.2. I was initially told I would get a high room with pool view as city views were relegated to the stupid crazy room prices and not the rate I was in. Room was not ready at checkin but was told in an hour or so it would be ready. Checked back and got a room with the loveliest view of a rocky/pebble roof you could ever ask for.Shot back down and talked with a front desk rep who apparently still believes in customer service. She put me back in the room I was originally promised.3. Breakfast buffet is what?? $60 per person? WTH is on it that it costs so much. Burger King here I come.

We like the Hilton Union Square for its central location and great staff. There are plenty of on-site food options, if you want to eat at the hotel. But there's many restaurant options right outside the door as well. We like the rooms in Tower 1. They are updated, clean and quiet. Tower 3's rooms are dated and worn, as that's the original building. This is why the hotel only gets 4 stars. The hotel has a lot of historic significance for San Francisco, which we like and appreciate. All in all, Hilton is our brand and the location at Union Square is where we stay when we're in town.Rooms: Rooms in Tower 1 are updated.Nearby activities: Close to Union Square, theaters, and the trolley.Walkability: Close to a lot of food, attractions and shopping.

It was OK. Just what you'd expect from Hilton. Nothing great. Room in fine condition. Exorbitant prices (including a "service charge" to receive delivered packages and a $50+ breakfast buffet, including taxes). Central location reasonably close to a BART station, not that anyone would want to stay in this area for anything. Fine for a business trip as long as you're not paying the bill yourself.

Great hotel. Extremely well maintained. Staff is very friendly. Excellent housekeeping. Very comfortable bed. I took off one star because of the $57 breakfast. Yes $57 before tip for a bland breakfast! It’s a ripoff.

Hilton Union Square San Francisco exceeded our expectations during our stay. The hotel's prime location in the heart of San Francisco made exploring the city a breeze. The room was spacious, well-maintained, and clean. What truly made our stay memorable was the exceptional service provided by Che'. Her assistance and attention to detail ensured that we had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The hotel's amenities, including a fitness center and diverse dining options, added to the overall excellence of our stay. We wholeheartedly thank Che' for her outstanding help and look forward to returning to this exceptional hotel in the future.

I stayed here because I was taking my son to the pier for the day and it was a good price so I booked it not really know in San Francisco. We checked him first and put our stuff down we walked from the ferry station which only took about 15 minutes. The front desk guy was so nice and so sweet gave me room options and everything told me about the bar grill that was on site. The rooms were really nice I’m not sure if they recently remodeled but the rooms were large it came with all the regular amenities. The only thing is there is only ice and soda machines on every other floor I wish I would’ve known that because I came with kids so I would’ve picked a floor that had the soda and ice machines.Safety: There was no safety issues this hotel was safeWalkability: We actually walk to Pier 39 from here but we did take a Uber back that was less than 10 bucks.Food & drinks: There is a bar and grill at this location and there’s lots of restaurants nearby within walking distanceNoteworthy details: Front desk is really nice. Checking in and checking out both times staff was really nice somebody tried to actually cut me in line and the front desk lady actually told him that I was first.

The view from the room was beautiful. The room was comfortable, albeit drab and dark. However, they truly hate the customer here. They charge $50 for the breakfast "buffet" that is generally free for diamond members. In addition, they charge a $15 a person tax and service fee. So for two people to have the most subpar breakfast you've ever seen at Hilton, the cost comes to $130. Not even an omelette station or typical things you find at a Hilton breakfast. Also, $10 fee per item\box delivered to the hotel, so I've encouraged my association to not host our annual meeting here. Hard pass on the "trapped" fees.

The location is great! Stayed on 29th floor - the view was fantastic!I took a room with two double beds: each double bed is fairly narrow - I wouldn't call it double. In addition, names of meeting rooms on 36 floor are at least confusing: skyline, bay view, sunset (don't remember exactly, but something like these). The names suggest there are available beautiful views for hotel guests... But it's not the case: the meeting rooms are not publicly available for guests.

Great location where mostly has everything nearby. Room is clean and spacious with shower amenities. Big screen TV, wish it had a smart view function which I can enjoy my device screen connected to a TV. Refrigerator is placed as well. Gym has enough equipment for workout while little to small compare to large amount of guest rooms. Outside of the hotel has number of homeless people and commonly smell weed. Not so safe to hang out at night time.

A month ago I was driving to LA from Seattle and I decided to stay in SF as my middle point. It was 11AM and I had been driving for ten hours straight overnight. I booked a room here and Nick at the front desk ensured I had a room so I could shower and sleep as soon as I submitted my booking inside the lobby of the hotel. Nick was super accommodating, acknowledged my Hilton Honors status, and gave me a great room! After sleeping for 8 hours I went out to dinner nearby. The hotel rooftop bar was a total vibe—I didn’t drink or hang out there I just peaked in and was shocked that was the rooftop setup I thought it was awesome. The hotel as a whole is great—amazing service, the most clean hotel I’ve ever seen, great rooms, and customer service from Nick was out of this world. I will be back here when I’m in SF for sure. Thanks for a great experience. Also—I recommend parking in the garage across the street. Cheaper and secured in my opinion.

We stayed at this hilton property during August of '23 for a family visit to San Fran. The property is very well maintained with the room and common areas being in very good condition. Our room was cleaned daily. The room had a safe and fridge. We arrived after MN with our rental car, parking is to the rear of hotel and appeared very secure, well lit with restricted access. You honk your horn and they open the door at night, during the day you show them your keycard. The hotel was very convenient to public transportation in Union Square and the cable car stop. There was a homeless encampment about a block to the west, and things got dirtier as you went further west toward tenderloin. However in the touristy areas south and east of the hotel things were fine. My family and I walked these areas at night for restaurants and to use public transportation and never felt unsafe. The biggest downside of this hotel was the price of food. They charge a daily $25 resort fee (honestly just include it in the price!), and then credit you that amount for eating in the hotel. That money does not go very far however. The breakfast buffet is nearly $50 per person. Even the grab n go market will run you about $20 bucks for a coffee and a dunkin style breakfast sandwich. With all the great food options around the hotel you would otherwise not think about eating there, however you feel obligated to try the spend the credit and invariably we ended up spending significantly more than $25 per day.Walkability: 5 min walk to public transportation. During our time if appeared safe to walk even at night. Concerns about safety and homeless issues appear overblown.Food & drinks: Expensive, breakfast buffet was nearly $50 per person.
