Thank you, Dr. Daniel E. Hart, for performing the emergency outpatient surgery and helping me heal. If they give awards to doctors, nurses and front desk folks at Kaiser, your team deserves it. I am eternally grateful to all of you for finding a time for me when there was a mix-up about my appointment date and time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My thumb is healing and I am grateful for the feeling of small town care in a big city. Roberta M. Chávez

I had an appointment at 3:40pm on 3/28. I went to the dermatology department for a sudden skin allergy. I was received by a Chinese woman named Niki (pronounced niki, I don't know how to spell it, I'm not good at English) who spoke Cantonese. She was very unprofessional and rude. Her attitude was very bad ?. She told me in Cantonese that she was a doctor's assistant. When measuring my blood pressure at the door, I told her that I didn't understand Cantonese very well. She said in a very unhappy tone that there was nothing I could do if I didn't understand. She didn't speak Mandarin, but there were translation software in the hospital. She didn't use it for me. When she entered the room, she asked me in Cantonese while typing on the keyboard. I could only understand 50% Cantonese. I said I didn't understand and I spoke Mandarin. She ignored me and deliberately made things difficult for me. I think she was very unfriendly I insisted that she use translation software for me, and she did. There was translation software in the room at that time, but she refused to let me use it. She deliberately spoke Cantonese. After I got home, I asked my friend, who is also a member of this hospital. She had also visited the dermatology department before and was also received by this Chinese woman. She also said that this Chinese woman who received her was very unprofessional and unfriendly. I originally wanted to call to complain about her, but I forgot because she made me feel bad. This time you asked me to fill out a questionnaire, so I will complain about her here. I will never let her consult or receive me again. She is very unprofessional and unfriendly, and even discriminated against me. Thank you for investigating her seriously. I hope you will not let her treat patients like this anymore. You should educate her. You must educate her. Thank you.

I was not listened too. She kept repeating that I was an over exerciser even though I clearly stated that I run for my mental health 4 days a week on average and most likely walk 20 min the other two days for 20 min. to do errands. I explained how important this is to my mental health. She told me that I had to stop running or that my heart could give out. (which is not true but terrified me). I asked her if I could swim and she very dramatically asked me "Do you want to drown?" She also told me I should not ride my bike with my 8 and 5 year old" I kept telling her that everyone in my life, including my therapist could verify that I was not nor have ever been an over exerciser. She just kept repeating this term three more times. Again feel very unheard and disbelieved . Defiantly scare tactics and not empowering or trusting me as an adult to make my own choices. Aside from this being unethical and harmful, this is defiantly not client centered. If there is any doubt to the credibility of what I'm telling you, as I should not have to advocate this hard in the voluntary care of my own health, my out side therapist and oversite organizations can verify the unethical actions of this apt. When I messaged my primary doctor about getting an eeg and seeing a cardiologist she also used the term over exerciser and said I didn’t need it I just needed to get my "over exercising under control" so that language and label is in my chart. There was the intake coordinator in the room so he can verify all of this. This is not denial on my part. This is a refusal to listen to the patient and doing real harm. This is illegal

My specialist doctor was extremely thorough and professional, and at the same time friendly and personable. My visit was most pleasant - I hope others have as good an experience as I had.

Dr. Vala and all staff are invariably engaging and solicitous. Despite popular thinking to the contrary, I now know that medical care can both technically adept and caring.

The provider has no compassion or concern for me as a whole human being. I was treated poorly, did not receive answers to my questions. Other than telling me to use crutches for 4 to 6 weeks and check back then, I received zero guidance on how to navigate my days with a fractured knee and other disturbing findings. Having already suffered with this knee pain for 3 months, using rest, ice, etc., it was extremely frustrating to now know my knee is fractured and be simply dismissed by the provider as a.person with "just arthritis". No concern for my quality of life, no sensitivity toward my needs, it was horrible. All the provider did was ask ME what I wanted her to tell me. And in my struggle to explain my concerns, the provider just typed away on her computer and said, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, as if it was a bother to her to have to listen and provide suitable care. After I asked for a second opinion, she left the room, refusing to come back in to answer any more questions. I was extremely distraught. To be honest, I felt invisible and left the office without hope.
